Apollo Has Landed: 40cm and 120w to freedom...

Hello all, been a minute since I have updated anything. I have been biding my time focusing on outdoor, and finally got me something worth-while to play with in the GL40. I picked up another china panel recently, of the modular "Apollo" type (Supposed maker's of the PhytoLed that BeachBass is using, :thank you: for showing the action they got!). I chose to use my own spectrum, flowering heavy , but should work for veg as well. The exact ratio/spectrum is Deep Red 660 x 24, Red 630 x 20, Warm White 2700k x 4, Cool White 6400k x 4, Far Red 740 x 4, Royal Blue 450 x 4. I also opted for 60* lens optics. Here she is fresh out of the box...

You can't really see it in the pic's, but the heatsink is about an inch finned aluminum with these little end cap/fins directing the air the fan is blowing up and out the vent's, instead if just out the sides.

Here's the aviator plug and power switch.

Generic Label.

The fascia (Look close enough you can see I have most of the red's on the outer slot's, and the white/blue/IR and a single red in the middle.)

Here we can see the first round of clones for the test run in 1gal grow bag's.

Better perspective of the scale of the panel in comparison to the tent (40x40x120cm).

Here's the Day 1 canopy.

Here's the first of 2 Sour Diesel clones, freshly topped at 6-8 nodes.

R13800809192434063_10.jpg

Here's a Re-Veg Stretch Indy that's starting to throw normal leaf's with about 6 top's.

R13800809192434063_11.jpg

Last is my little Bonsai Mum O.G. Kush S1 I got in the 805, again 6-8 tops.

R13800809192434063_12.jpg

And here's basically the "utillity' area of the tent, plenty of headroom left, a good foot probably.

R13800809192434063_14.jpg

The plan at the moment (Yes, I have changed the script many times, but I have many priorities...) is to veg these suckers for a good 3 weeks at least and get them nice and bushy, till their almost to the halfway-point of the tent. Then I should have about equal space for them to stretch, maybe scrog if they start getting messy soon. Pulling for a solid 100g's, should be do-able with a good veg seeing as it should be really pulling 118-130w at the plug (Need a killawatt still to check everything...). Temp's are even hilariously cooler than 2 of the 350mA Blackstar UFO's (84w) I used before for vegging. Fan isn't too bad, my PC venting axials are louder. Wish me luck guys!!!

wow thats a nice led lamp, i know that took a few pennies.will be interesting to see how these babies veg under a flowering led. i would love to have something like this that could fit in the top of a pc case. the only led lamps that fit inside my space is ufo's and in such a small space i dont think i would get good coverage with it. You said you used the blackstar unit, i was thinking of getting the 100w ufo. how do you like yours? would you put one in a pc case?( 17" headspace) dont mean to jack your thread or anything

Thank's UG! Drop by anytime, there is never any worries of jacking in my thread (Try me, lol!), always open for discussions homie! Would you believe it only set me back a hair shy of $190USD shipped (Even with customization options, spectrum, lens angle, housing color...). If you check this out, the homie Rasser over at RIU has fully modded a 6-pod unit into individual cluster's housed in PC PSU cases! Perfect, plug and play for your situation. And at 200w/6, you could probably fit 3 in there, then you can stuff 100 REAL watts of L.E.D. in there. I was somewhat mis-lead into buying the Blackstar's after seeing Teri's PC and not looking deeper into L.E.D. technology in general. They only put out 42w each of low quality L.E.D. lighting. For A P.C. it should be fine, but I am wanting a little more than fluffy popcorn (I don't think Teri pulled more than 2.5 zip's if he weighed...), and that is all that the 100w Blackstar will get you. I could have had 2 more of these panels with the money I spent on the BS, not that they don't have their place, they are perfect for seedling's, early veg, and cloning. I would definetily check out McSamuels thread over here, as he is using a worthy unit (Lens and higher current...) that would fit in your dimension's (And probably be cheaper than buying from Gotham...). Gimme some of your criteria homie and I will do some research on some units for you tommorow homie.

Oh and a few more things. The BS is 7" round on the dot. It would not fit in my 7" pc case unless I cut the housing AND PCB (Circuit board...). I am currently using the two in a 11"x30"x18" cab for clones, and can get you a pic tommorow if you wanted too.

thats insane! who makes it? im going to check them out see if they can make one for a pc case. i never thought of gutting one for the lights and putting them in the pc thats a good idea, thanks for the link

Aw dang, I thought this journal was going to be about some resurrected Mr. Soul genetics.

Nonetheless, I'm gonna tag along, because I like micro grows, and I'm getting more and more interested in LED panels lately. I really dig your setup, it looks nice and tidy! :)

This is the company I have been going through. Their relatively knowledgeable and friendly. Was getting the run-around a bit, but constant contact speeds things up. There is a TON of stuff on Aliexpress that could be franken-fitted into a PC case! Like this.

:tumbleweed: Lol I will definetily try and get my hands on some TGA gear , Apollo was one of my dream strains back in the day! I miss the days of the "legend" strains with tales to back them up, seems new names are being invented by the minute... Definitely trying to keep this round clean and legit. These gals are coming back fresh from a Azamax blast-down due to the damn Russet's (Never going FFOF again! Walmart Blackgold, not a single bug, but the day I buy the "fancy" stuff my garden get's taken over, with cockroaches too! Rant lol...). They also were pretty damn root bound in Solo Cup's until yesterday. Their already perking up pretty nicely, getting their green back.

I was so close to getting that light instead! Cant wait to see what it can yeild

Nice setup Neekz! im looking at the same tent and light after i saw this thread! Did you custom-order the light with custom leds? great space in that Gl40, looks like you could fit a scrubber and a fan in there also?
Looking forward to see this grow to the end!
Regards Algreenery

Nice, I'm going to follow along and live vicariously through your grow ... every time I look at LEDs I can't seem to financially justify them vs CFLs for my application. One day!

Haha this setup could be had in a months time working at Mickey Dees! But yes, I am trying to keep it as clean and legit as possible, and will stick to my guns on this one through and through, no change-ups unless extremely necessary. This will be a control grow for future op's. If this "module" can put out a QP, I know it can be multiplied where I need. Cost is under $300 aside from nutes/plant amenities. I am trying to emulate Oneshot's Growblu set-up on a 1/4th scale. I did custom order the Light Al, and I think I mentioned the spectrum/ratio in the first post. I am not concerned about scrubbing so my 69cfm PC fan does just fine, with the canopy 1 degree cooler than ambient outside temp. The manufacturer also makes the "Phyto Light L.E.D." that BeachBass uses, and mine is only different in that I am using 60* lens (Narrow tent to boot, so might as well maximize PAR values...), and as far as spectrum, theirs per cluster uses 10-660/630, 3-460, 2-610. I chose to (After seeing Area51 and other panels with no blue...) change the 3-460's and 2-610's in each cluster for a 2700k, a 6400k, an 740IR, and another 660/630 for a broader spectrum, that shouldn't funk the ratio up too much. With the "Phyto" spectrum, there is already impressive growth IMO. Thanks for looking all!

Here is a quick little ghetto paint rendition of the spectrum/ratio. The 660/630 peaks should be a little more pronounced but all else is about what it should be.

Well here's the clones after 3 days of 18/6 under the fixture. They perked up and started regaining color quite a bit compared to under the 2 Blackstar's.

I instead will let them go back into the veg box, and throw in this big girl I had vegging for the OD...

K13803326952438014_6.jpg

She's been topped and LST'd to a nice round bush with 2 main colas in the middle. I plan on tying down all the remainder of side branching and vegging a bit more. I think my patience will pay off better with this gal then the little ones. May possibly rig a screen soon, not sure. Still got plenty of headroom too, should be able to get a nice chunky yield. Here's some more flicks.

And here's what this pheno can do at day 30 and 40, respectively, zero veg clone under the sun for refference (Mites fuck my OD's up!)...

I also figured I might as well open her up and see what the real gut's are. Quite suprised at what I found.

Here's her top off.

A bit closer look... Note you can see the large metal plate attached to the tubular aluminum heatsink's.
