How to change username under title?

Hi, can someone tell me how a mod might be able to change the username listed under the thread title on a sub-forum main page? Not within the thread, just under the thread title as it appears on the main page?

I asked a mod if he could do this for some of silverback's old threads but he couldn't figure out how to do it. However, we both know that it can be done because another mod had managed do to this for some of silverback's old threads. Unfortunately we don't know which mod did it. Many thanks for your help.

Hey Gunnaknow, I know what you are asking for... we've been around and around this issue many times before!!!

We can not change the original posters name in a thread if that person had their account deleted and it is showing as 'guest.'

We as administrators can not do that... nor can anyone else. If we DID do that, all threads in the entire site started by ANY member who had their account deleted and is now just listed as "guest" would become Silverback's. That is not happening under any circumstances.

We all admire Silverback's words of wisdom, and you have done a great service providing that concise list of links to his threads.

It is 'stickied' so it stays at the top of its forum.

Hey BT, it's good to see you around. I think that one of the subscription privileges is the option to edit the title, but not the username listed under the title.

Hey Payaso, thanks for your kind words. I have just checked all of Silverback's threads again and the username underneath the titles has been restored to 'Guest'. There would be no reason for a mod to do this, so it must be down to an automated system. Why it went from 'Guest' to 'silverback' and then back to 'Guest' is beyond me; any ideas?

If I had known that this was going to happen, then I wouldn't have asked yortbogey to change the username on three threads. For the sake of continuity, could you change these three thread titles back to what they originally were?
