Outdoor Surveillance Cameras

G

Guest 147054

Im considering getting an all in one security camera/setup
to put out by my outdoor crop to make sure no ones visiting.

Im pretty sketchy about the security of my area and if anything happens I want to know who did it.

What im basically looking for is

1. All weather outdoor camera
2. nightvision
3. about 5-10mp resolution
4. record video or take pics
5. longlife battery, around a week or so
6. be able to take a large sd card, 16 or 32g
7. must be all-in-one so it can be concealed easily and moved if needed

I hope someone has some ideas of where to purchase one or has some info about them. Ok ya, not to expensive either if possible

I could not find wireless (battery) that worked for us. Went with a wired kit that we can see on line & it records for 7 days.
All we want is to post photos of any rip-offs, so all the local growers will know who they are. If they are so unable to grow their own, they must need it more then we do!

Lots of hunting stores and optics stores sell them.

Hunting forums are some of the best places for this kind of research. There are usually many detailed reviews that help you pick out the best one you can in your price range or with your qualifications.

examples of hunting stores might be Cabellas and Bass Pro Shop

Unfortunately I cant go wired as its my guerilla grow I need to keep an eye on.

This one will text you pics or video, and can be connected to other wireless motion sensors and stuff. Freakin slick! http://247ecam.com/zencart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=20&products_id=20

Yes super slick BUT if one is in the USA these don't work anymore since 5/15/2011
due to using SIM cards based on GSM 2G/3G MMS messaging.

AT&T and T-Mobile are the only ones offering GSM standard with MMS messaging and that's what all these cameras work with....or used to work with I should say.

GSM 2G/3G MMS messaging has been disabled since 5/15/11 and was replaced with 4G - unlike the cameras software which works only with the older now discontinued 2G/3G network. :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

Ya thats pretty spiffy alright. But still its not an outdoor camera. I want something that can be left outside in Irish weather conditions without having to worry about it

yep! you want a 'Trail Cam" then like First Tracks Said.

Be really really REALLY careful with trailcams!

I used to use them back in the days and it is SO EASY to find a pic of yourself on there leaving it behind as evidence.

When I was using mine I had them hidden so well I had to use the below to find them.

Nowadays these detectors cost only $20 shipped from China and find any & every camera in a heart beat, including yours - including the pictures the camera would be taking of yourself.

Those trail cams are a major PIA to deal with. (and I am speaking from past experience here!)

You have them pointing straight @ your grow or paths leading to it. You have to turn them off/take them down EVERY time you visit your grow. And if your grow is more than just a handful plants you will have to visit it pretty much daily due to watering, feeding, bugs, animals, mold etc. blah blah

And if your grow is just a handful plants it is not worth setting up cameras because they will be torn out by LEO if found.

Should have posted the pic in a video on YouTube,
it would have made him famous in a not so desirable way...

Yeah you made some good points. I didnt even consider them taking pics of me when I was visiting the spot.

Well its more than a handful of plants, well to me it is anyway so I think its worth the money and effort. This will be the last year im gonna grow where I am so I gotta make sure nothing gets ripped.

Moultry GameSpyi40
& a few GSM cams I cannot find atm.

Use only a game cam utilizing infrared flash,
I can HIGHLY recommend the one I took a pic of for you below utilizing a camo package such as I added.
(that's if you really gotta use a game cam, trust me they really are a PITA to deal with.)

You can really make someones day when they jack your plants and get a high dollar camera as a bonus.I cant speak for your area but around here the first thing you do when you go to your patch is to circle it and see if the law has set up a camera. If so you can take it, smash it or run a gay porn flick from your phone in front of it. Cops love porn.

Dude have you even grown yet?

The posts I see you have been making pretty much are only about X-Box, rubber balls, stink bugs, weird weather and now gay porn flicks on cell phones where you live.

Thanks strainhunter. You've been very helpful. For my own piece of mind I went ahead and got one anyway.
ScoutGuard
seem fairly reputable so that's what I went with. To be honest its more about people I know than randomers coming into my spot, so 3 cameras should do. There pretty small so hopefully there gonna work.

Ok since the one I linked isn't a viable option, anyone know of one that still works and can send SMS messages with a pic?
