What's new

My Four Legal Girls in DWC.

I haven't posted a grow online since 2003, back when forums like these were the only way to learn the tricks of cannabis cultivation. After 2005, I quit growing entirely, and got a real job. Apparently parents frown upon their kids living at home practicing forbidden botanicals.

Now that Canada has legalized it, I thought I'd just sweep 14 years of dust off my skills and get back to it. Turns out that's much easier said than done, but I haven't killed them yet.

As of today, they are on day 24 from first getting the seeds wet, and day 18 from taproots poking out of rockwool.

Here's the specs of my grow space. I went all out for my first jump back in.

9' x 5' gorilla grow tent next to drain in basement
2 630 cmh lights with phillips 3k bulbs on 240V
AN 3 part fertilizer and Calmag so far
2 105L DWC tubs with 8 inch net pots, 2 plants per
1 80l/min fan cooled air pump, 4 stones per tub
1 6 inch intake fan, 1 8 inch exhaust, 730cfm max
2 small circulating fans inside
1 humidifier commandeered from girlfriend
Reverse osmosis filter

The babies are Cali OG Kush x Amnesia Haze. Definitely some variations in phenos for me to pick from for next time. These are the first pics I took of them as little seedlings.

That fifth one in soil was the extra I germinated. Couldn't just kill it, so I gave it to a friend.

These pics were 12 days ago. Day 6 or 7

These pics are from the 10th. 4 days ago. They were recovering from me almost killing them. I had forgotten to add Bloom to the reservoirs, leaving their only source of P as the bit of phosphoric acid I was putting in to adjust pH.
I had them around 190ppm, no phosphorous. I couldn't figure out why they stopped growing, and was in a full panic for 2 days. Redid the nutes at double strength thinking maybe they needed more. Realized the night of Feb 7th that Bloom was the only fert with P in it, so I added that to the solution, and they started growing again.
The front right plant has always been the biggest, and continues to outperform. Back left was the slowest, and suffered a lot from the lack of nutrients.

A couple days later one seemed to be getting droopy. It's -30 outside and humidity is non existent in the house, so I added a humidifier, raised the lights a bit, dropped the new nutrients from 630 to 550 or so. Seemed to work.

The giant plant seems to be getting nutrient burn on her immense fan leaves, but the other plants are unaffected. Guess this is the downside to multiple seeds in one reservoir.

Day 17

They were recovering nicely, though the monster was still getting a bit of nute burn. Kept pH between 5.5 and 5.9.

Day 18

I think this is the day I actually added the humidifier to the room. Diluted the nutrients a bit more, as they had risen a bit from the previous days.

Definitely getting the routine down to watch these girls. Check pH, adjust pH, check ppm, check water level.

Don't mix up which bucket is getting the pH down. Learned that the hard way.

Also moved the plants to the middle of the room, so I can start LSTing them out to their respective corner. Having the one runt is gonna mess up the spread a little, but it'll work out. Just have to remind myself this is a practice run. And yes, I know 4 plants in 45 square feet is ambitious lol

DAY 19

All caught up now. The runt is growing nicely now. Too bad she's a full week behind in veg. 560 ppm in the left tank, no nute burn. 5.8 pH

460ppm in the right tank as of this afternoon. The Monster had continued to burn a little, so I pulled 5 litres and replaced with RO. Damn her leaves are big. She went 1, 3, 7, and now 9 fingers. The 7 finger leaves are huge!! Also has branches growing from the cotyledons. Never seen that before.5.9 pH now. I'll correct it in the morning.

Also started training the front 2.
