Sounds swank, at some point i will automate it, but right now plant care is sort of my hobby so i enjoy just getting in there and doing everything manually. The arduino/pi/etc based controllers that people build are pretty fascinating, i could see that being a fun project down the road.

Mornin guys, this thread is looking interesting.
I've been here since birth and have left and come back twice. I don't get it when people blame legal weed for the horrible situation our state is in.
The population boom was well under way before we even went medical. Now at least when I'm stuck in bumper to bumper traffic on 70 I can smell some nice skunky aromas wafting out of the warehouse grows. Lol.
Anyone try the clones from Discount Clone Club? I've been hunting for Chem for a while now and they claim to have it... not sure though. The clone scene is lame here anymore, unless you're an IG nerd. Hehehe.
Anyway, I don't really bring much value from a Networking stand point. I grow only with limited numbers these days. Much like you guys, the incentive for bigger grows is gone for me.
Any of you guys do any hobby breeding? A pal and I have been talking about some sort of collective for breeding.. but once again there's no incentive beyond having a fun community project.

Morning. When I first started growing I thought about the options....hydro or soil. I settled for sunshine 4 and perlite. I have never changed.
I have a good friend who rocks with hydro. Guy is dialed in. Never has a problem and the yields are huge. Only thing.....I like the taste and smell of marijuana grown in peat moss .
Like xavier I have the time and enjoy indoor gardening. I especially like it in the dead of winter. Gives me something to do. I back off some in the warmer months because of outside duties but I run full speed ahead in the winter.
I know there are more efficient and lest cumbersome ways of growing but in the end I love the finished product I produce.

I am into making seeds, it is fun to see what you wind up with. I got a little pollen happy and opted to knock up my whole grow. Chem shouldn't be that hard to track down, though i have no experience with the shop you mentioned.
Networking is more just shooting the breeze with local folks, not business wise. I was on another forum for a good while that had a nice active CO section but it crapped out eventually.
I think dtc and the tech boom has more to do with people moving here than weed. CA was wide open for a long time. The legal weed probably did bump up the number of transients downtown but that industry doesn't pay enough to make it out here. I came as it was a better place to raise a family than where i was before, and well, not to be hokey, but the mountains are majestic and just amazing to be able to go visit on a whim. The midwestern relatives cant seem to understand that for some people it is worth it to go struggle to make it in a new place that you find amazing rather than sit where you are comfortable and going on vacations to that destination.

Hey Jake. I know all to well what you mean about traffic. My family first moved to Boulder in 1957 (dating myself) and it was 27 miles of prairie to Denver....not now. Since I retired I don't do rush hour, weekends in the mountains and holidays and downtown period.
I am not a breeder but I mostly do clones and some from seeds. I am running 8 strains currently....many of them for years. I had Chem #4 in my stable for a long time but my friends like variety so I switched to Original Diesel. If you give me some time I can probably get the for you. I know a guy that is still running it.
I you need clones I always have to many and have to end up culling them....and will be glad to share.

@ Jake I have been thinking about trying the discount clone club they have a nice collection with a couple that I have been keeping an eye out for. Will probably be a couple of months before I do, I am going to let my grow go vacant for the holidays so I can travel without worries.

Things change, good and bad. Who would of thought we could go shopping for 1000&1 strains of weed and 100&1 clones ?

Took a look at DCC, looks like it might be worth checking out. They had a few things that looked good to pick up and try and pretty good reviews. Longmont is a long way away though so we will see. Chemlights/ssh/ak47/black cherry soda all piqued my interest. Of course i dont have room but as they sound like they are of a good size i might be able to pop a few in once i kick males.

The green ones are different phenos of a ghost train haze x mex, has a good kick to it with a strong lemon flavor. Purpley one is tropicanna cookies, not a great looking bud of it, but very tasty. Currently just growing some chucks i made, i need to go track down some new stuff to try out.

Hey old friend! Nice to see your name pop up, long time no see! Hope you and the family are well .Im Sorry to hear things are strange at Cabana (tell OP I send my best) and that things out there have gotten worse. I moved to Maine in 2015 after my fiasco and never looked back. I love Colorado and miss it but the Colorado I knew in 2011 felt long gone when I was there recently. Seems like a whole new world not the same tight circles or relaxed law enforcement and more dog eat dog. It's sad to see the real growers pushed out the market and prosecuted while the ones that shouldn't be a part of if are given the keys to the city. I was against legalization from day 1 but never thought it would change a state I loved so much, so drastically . My thoughts are with you all out there that are fighting the good fight and I hope things level out eventually. And fwiw don't feel bad, it's 125 an ounce here on East coast. Everywhere is fucked these days thanks to the postal system. Strange times indeed. Have a great one brother !
Sorry DJM. I just saw this. OP and I have had a bit of a falling out. But, if I do see or speak to him I will say Hi for ya. Was thinking about you the other day. We don't have the gatherings at OP's like we used to. I guess he got tired of the mess. Sure had some good times over there.
Things have gone to hell in a hand basket here. Prices have gone ridiculous. Commercial growers are really having a hard time.....$1,200 lb and dropping....small boutique guys are still doing ok....so far.

I'm a new grower, learning as much as I can as fast as I can. I just finished my first harvest, a Shark Shock x G-Funk I bought as a clone at Green Solution. Thankfully, it was an easy first plant to grow, and it did fine outdoors, and produced several ounces, despite a late start.
I have another girl still maturing. This is Jack La Mota x Humphrey Blues. I started it from seed the same day I bought the clone in June. It was also easy to grow. I fimmed it and got four main branches, which I spread apart a bit to get light farther down. Other than that I just fed her and watered her and watched her grow. I'm hoping the snow last night will drive her to finish faster and pile up more trichomes. I suspect she has a couple weeks left until harvest day.

Lots of familiar things being said in this thread, I stopped using my grow space for myself and actually started renting it out, simply because finding someone to pay rent was easier and safer than constantly trying to find new clients to purchase bulk flowers, dealing with shady out of state types got to be too much for my nerves. Overall it's working out for me, it's not ideal, obviously I had to go back to my day job instead of being able to pay the bills from home. I miss my garden, I don't miss the hustling.
Thanks for chiming in DVB. I couldn't do this if I wasn't (mostly) legal and retired. One thing though....if you have good genetics, you grow well, and dry/cure properly new clients aren't really a problem. I am an old man and never get out but pretty much never have anything sitting in jars.
My garden also keeps me out of the bar and from watching day time television. In the summer there is plenty to do but the winter.....

New clients are always a problem for someone who doesn't have social connections. I was a specialist in curing, having designed a curing machine that produced jar quality product within 30 days of harvest or less. I got older, trusted connections moved on as they formed residency in new areas, soon I was left seeking out strangers to buy my product. Many people are comfortable with this, I was not. Rather than increasing my legal risks just to keep being people's personal grower, I chose to move on from the grey market and into a new arena. I am well aware that the rental market here for growers is on the verge of collapse, and yet all I can do is try to ride the wave until things settle out.
Glad to elaborate Passion. DVB quit growing and started renting for fear of leo. If you have been in and around the Denver housing market for the last 10 years or so you have seen huge spikes in prices including rental housing.
I have now idea what kind of garden DVB had going but he obviously is able to rent and generate as much $$ as growing with out the fear of having his door kicked down. The average rent for a one bedroom apartment has doubled since the green rush in the city. Am guessing the avg has gotten to almost $2,000/month.
The last I heard though is the market is cooling down and more are leaving the city than coming in. What goes up will come down. Like housing most things are cyclical.
With where prices have gone....I should sell my house but I would have to pay and inflated price on anything in the area so kind of like kissing your sister. Thinking I will stay put.
