Just got an AC. Should I lower the outtake fan CFM?

Because if I don't, won't the cold air escape? What is the downside of having a slower fan?

Yes slow the intake but maintain an adequate level of extraction to prevent excessive humidity and replenish CO2. Find a sweet spot where you are running the aircon at a minimum whilst maintaining optimal temps.
