Study reveals substantial evidence of holographic universe

Theoretical physicists and astrophysicists, investigating irregularities in the cosmic microwave background (the 'afterglow' of the Big Bang), have found there is substantial evidence supporting a holographic explanation of the universe—in fact, as much as there is for the traditional explanation of these irregularities using the theory of cosmic inflation.

The physical universe is widely seen to be composed of "matter" and "energy". This suggests scientists may "regard the physical world as made of information, with energy and matter as incidentals.

The theory suggests that the entire universe can be seen as two-dimensional information on the cosmological horizon, the event horizon from which information may still be gathered and not lost due to the natural limitations of spacetime. The three dimensions we observe are an effective description only at macroscopic scales and at low energies.

And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour."

Surprised I missed this thread when it was posted. This is the kind if shit that keeps me up at night thinking.

You should read the shit quantum physicists are talking about nowadays.

Wormholes between block universes as a 'prerequisite' of consciousness...qubits leaving our universe and going into other worlds (entanglement preserved) ...Carl Jung's revival is upon is... there is a paradigm shift happening that is tying up all the old loose ends of a failed model of an objective universe. All things point to the mind now like they always have.

Expansion of universeS proportional to expansion of consciousness.

Thanks Genghis!

Na the universe is just a shitload of space thats it no hologram or other dimension or wormholes none of that just a vast infinite space filled with all kinds of rocks and crazy fireworks (stars). Black holes suck everything up including light thats what they are they suck thats it they dont magically transport you to another time or place they crush you thats it. I like to think that you can be so far out in space that nothing else exists but empty space so far you cant see any light because it has not reached this place yet. Then their could be another universe expanding like ours but it would be in the same "dimension" but its so far away their light will never reach us so theirs no way we could ever detect it or just nothing what we see is all their could exist Our universe trips me out bigtime

It's not evidence - it's a theory. There's a difference.

This story is hyped up and over rated.

They've been going on about this for thirty years and still no actual evidence.

Well religious people have been doing the same (no evidence, just "theories") for thousands of years!

I find this subject fascinating.

Nomenclature initially misleading, hologram kinda implies
there is a source that is projected, interesting reading though.

Some shit on icmag is too stupid to pass up not commenting on

Go read the textbook definition of scientific theory and come back when you can formulate something that even remotely hints at a coherent sentence

Lol @ a scientific theory having no evidence. Good one!

Okay, looked up definition of theory, contrasted to scientific theory:

Scientific theories are the most reliable, rigorous, and comprehensive form of scientific knowledge, in contrast to more common uses of the word "theory" that imply that something is unproven or speculative .

Go read the textbook definition of scientific theory

Good one, tessarecting.

"The holographic principle is a principle of string theories and a supposed property of quantum gravity that states that the description of a volume of space can be thought of as encoded on a lower-dimensional boundary to the region—preferably a light-like boundary like a gravitational horizon."
