Howdy everyone!! how's everyones new year going so far!>!>! I have a bit of a bastard crop going this time. 2 larger plants vs smaller variety!!I gave the trays a solid scrubbing and also came up with a flexible line cleaner(snake). For flushing lines i cant reach!!

. Unfortunatly I lost a vast amount of babies just after the holidays due to lazyness...... I have been reduced to just 2 survivers and a few offspring!!

Anyways as soon as i have this new forum figured, i'll post some pics... Seems like we stepped backwards with the new gallary..

A quick update.clones are liking their new home, they have each jumped a inch or more in the past week. The mothers in the back will be topped this weekend and cloned. I plan on vegging for only a few weeks and im flippen them. So this should be a stocky bush grow.

have a great weekend folks!

peace

I always re-use a large portion of hydroton. I clean it simply by rinsing it first and then soaking in a light bleach mixture for 24 hours. Then a final rinse. Some dead roots do remain at first, but will eventually be broken down with enzymes.

Never had a problem, and i dont have problems with PH swings by introducing large amounts of new hydroton. The advantages are, I have way less "heat" to throw away at the end of a grow, and my grows are more profitable.I only use four bottles of nutrients that achieves above average results. Hydrozyme, GH Micro, GH Bloom and a bloom enhancer. Increasing effeciencies is what my design of the overall system is about.

Actually its way less work, prepping used hydroton, then time taken properly rinsing large amounts of new hydroton.
I do not replace 100% of growing medium after a grow. I'd say i only add back about 10 - 15 % new medium to each grow.

Honestly i dont give a shit what the little pieces of clay look like, I only care about the cola size and quality of smoke produced.lol

a preview of the past on things to come...

Those are stinky buds, no wonder with all that dirty hydroten! All humor aside, it sounds like your running Lucas with a few additives. I am trying to stream line things before I get to far along and would love some info on your feed formula, amounts, times, temps and PH. Which bloom enhancer do you use? You could PM me but I'm sure the question will be asked a few dozen more times, either way. I have read through most of your threads and have a idea, just want to know were your at with things as of now. A picture is worth a thousand words and your picture's speak. Dude, man, wow and dude, wow, wow. Karma, One Love

Well I will go into a little more detail then, although it's simple I will touch on what i do.Ill post in my thread as to shed some light to everyone thinking of runnning with lucas.

AS OF LATE

Plants less then 6 inchs tall - i use 5ml micro 10ml bloom per gallon. Ph hovers around 6.1-6.4. Room temps tend to hover around 30 degrees C when plants are small..

Once plants are 6 inches or more I start introducing hydrozyme
10ml at first up to 20ml per gallon throughout rest of grow, I also increase lucus to 8ml micro 16ml bloom. PH will be hovering around 6.0.

Ive used several bloom enhancers in the past, I still find Laters bloom booster 0 -12-12 to work ideally beside lucas. Hence I use it religiously now. 5ml per gallon to start up to 10ml depending on PPM. I begin this in the third week of flower and reduce bloom and hydrozyme by the last 4 weeks of flower. After that I reduce lucas up untill the last 3 weeks. This is when i start adding water only. At 2 weeks remaining i dump entire system and flush for the remaining time.

I run a nutridip trimeter which allows me to closly watch ppm ph and temp levels. In flower it it typical to see ppm at 1500 ph at 5.8 and temps always 55-57 degrees F. My system is a true recirculating system, I do not flush it unless ph/ppm gets out of wack. It's rare but most time my first entire flush comes near harvest time. I have been perfecting this method for the last 3 years, and it has paid off big time. I also run a carbon filter and dehumidifier to keep my enviroment fresh and in check, humity set to 40 %

I call the system The Magic trays. It is a cross hydro platform(ebbflow,DWC,drip). Is really a recirculating SWC, /w top feed! Low cost to build, setup and operate.

Thanks so much for expanding as I will be referring back to this many times thought the grow. I understand that all systems are different and can produce different results. I am planning on using a botanicare 4x4 tray, 5x5x6 square planters with hydroten, a 40 gal. rubbermaid rez.,and a ecopump with a aquarium filter http://shop.bhg.com/product/reptile/207254/tetra-whisper-in-tank-power-filter.html in order to keep the system clean and avoid rez. change outs. this will be an ebb and flow recirculating system that is still very portable. Do you see any problems using your feed schedule for this type of system? Thanks for any help in advance, the last thing I want to do is hijack your thread. I am willing to communicate here or wherever is best for you. Just let me know. Karma, One Love

this is what lucus can do for your plants.ppm 399-400(very watered down)

oh yeah.and.... im still using clear line>>?!?!?!?!works great still!!! Plants are definatly loving the new home.
boosted nute levels to 550ppm.. which is 5 ml micro, 10ml bloom per gallon. We should see some good darkening of the leaves and more rapid growth to come.Mommas are taken a little longer to recover(starved!)... which is good, gives a chance for the younglings to catch up

darn it, those pesky ugly old rooty lava rocks are in the pics again........damnit!!!!lol

Dubwise - Thank you!

Here are the latest shots of the garden.....16 days total, 10 day veg, 6 flower. My room stats are fantastic!! Little tweak in my exhaust venting did the trick!!! I will let the humidity sit 40-45% from this point on!

Oh, and as you can see my "dirty" hydroton has no effect on growth..It is starting to dissapear, hydrozyme is taking care of it.

Have a wonderful long weekend folks!
