High TImes Kicked Out Of Las vegas?

Come on guys, Moapa is NOT Las Vegas... and Moapa is where High Times says it will be holding it's cannabis cup in March of this year.

I remember when the entrance to Valley of Fire from I-15 was graced with a trailer, selling cigarettes tax-free as it was a 'reservation.'

Apparently they built an 'event center' like all the wineries in California have done.

Is this not the most charming, sophisticated and luxurious place to hold a High Times Cannabis Cup???

Really???

WIth all the entertainment venues and EVENT CENTERS in Las Vegas they had to go to Moapa???

Perhaps they have over-saturated the market with their cups?

Is that the stunning convention center for the Vegas cup? Man, you can even fill up your RV of car there. Doesn't look very nice to me. They should have done it on top of Mt. Charleston where they have the ski lift and that great lodge restaurant. Been there liked it.

...... maybe they're expecting a lot of overflow parking???:comfort:

Also, I don't see a lot of cameras there either.

Looks like brothel parking lots when you get away from the "glitz and glamor" of Vegas or Reno. Passed many a small NV town on explorations while living in Reno in the '80's. Brothels were mobile homes and a large trucker parking lot.

:fsu:

I did a lil looking & it appears that there are 2 actual large buildings to rent space for events.
I also found it funny that the page listing the various events for the place gave no mention of the HTCC. Dates all aroud it were listed, however.

Has HT actually secured a contract yet or are they just hoping they dont end up moving at the last minute like they had to in Denver for their last planned event there.

They did the same thing out here. Don't say the event is in San Francisco when it's in Santa Rosa.

Interesting, I'll be living about 30 minutes from there by next week.

I know the area, used to live around there. Moapa is tiny, tiny, tiny. Looks like they've upgraded the parking in the last 10 years though. There's what, 2 bars a gas station and a hotel... town is a little bigger than when I left, it seems.

Should be interesting. ;)

I'm surprised they didn't opt for Mesquite.
A little farther out, but more classy (if you can say that about anyplace in Nevada...)

Guess Vegas finally removed the billboards outside the city telling ppl they'll get busted for drugs...? (remember that from the 70s)

Are they allowing cannabis smoking in the hotels?

They really should allow it in the casinos! Can you imagine?
Although I think alcohol works better to loosen the inhibitions and the wallets.
