Malawi X Caribe ?

Got a ACE fem Malawi I'm dusting with a reg male CBG Caribe

First time with the Malawi, but I'm really liking its thing, And I recently did a Caribe and loved its qualities and aggressiveness...seems to me like a good combo....Time will tell...but I like the idea

Anyone got input on what I can expect from this breeding?

This is for indoors, outdoors these would never finish here, I wanted to go full Sativa's indoor, since everything available and outdoors is all indica...

I'd like to try running pure Sativa's from seed in a 10/14 light regime mimicking a sub tropical winter crop, both Jamaica and Malawi have this type of winter season, so I believe they naturally should do well with it and finish in about 100 days from seed.

Big reason I choose these 2 strains to play with.
Also the way the seed parents genes have been chosen and "stacked". Should have some real hybrid vigor with these f1

My male caribe is pretty , red colors on flowers and stems, a deep but not overpowering stank..

The caribe is very clear relaxing yet strong and energetic, great happy vibes, I'm hoping to keep the good vibes and increase potency with the Malawi

Anyway, Here is my Malawi Fem all pregged up with Jamaican Lambsbread goodness...

She was(24/0) veg for 30ish days and now at 30ish days( 10/14 ) flower...

could of veg longer , but was'nt really sure what to expect,,,,but I'm really happy with it :)

Surprised how fast and strong they flowered switching to 10/14 really like how that is working out, gonna keep doing it for sure.

I don't expect her to keep pushing fresh pistils being full of seed on this light schedule, but I'm sure some fattning up will take place yet :dance013:

Starting to really put on some trichomes now..

This gal has been absolutely eating all the nutes I throw at her with no problems, even getting a bit of low nitrogen in lower leafs...

Intense light. 500w led for 4sq. Ft....good for sativa.

But the switch from herbal and anisette to a unmistakable sweet strawberry bubblegum was unexpected and delightful.

Still got a good 4 weeks to ripen these seeds...

I have 2 clones of this gal in veg ready for the turn..
And also just germinated 2 fem CBG mangobiche x payote purple...

Jammal, I like the thought and research you put into doing this cross. Light cycle times I feel are very important. Your setup looks beautiful and well thought out as well. Best of luck as you continue through harvest. Happy growing! Peace

Thanks for the kind words

tried to get a good bud shot, but the camera just don't do justice, I need a better camera.

the top LED's are white T5 retrofits 2ft 216w total, the sides are blurple 300's 2 different kinds( actual like 140w)

actually the full scrog is a 4X2 but I'm only using the middle 2x2

Just started to get a bit of nute burn on the tips, I recently pushed the K a little bit , seems to be more sensitive to that..a good flush next watering....then will start backing off all nutes slowly.

think she's about to push some more pistils, the mutant bud is starting to get scary

a few more pics

6 weeks flowering now on 10/14, seeded
Shes getting ready to pop with some real bud formations now, the seeds are maturing nice.

great resins already, crap camera, sweet fruity smells, not at all overpowering, fresh strawberries and bubblegum, not a single trace of skunk, none zilch...very sticky.

expect some bud popping next 2 weeks, then I'll flush for 2 weeks then cut.

I'm liking the Malawi strain, very resilient, fresh sweet smells, not as vigorous as the caribe, that stuff is jungle worthy.Looking forward to the mix of genetics.

trichomes already pretty milky, seeded plants mature faster, another reason I think a lot of African farmers just let them go seeded...its not like they gotta worry about yield ...lol

Welcome Jammal,

Your Malawi is really enjoying under your good cares and in your indoor LED grow :)

I have never tried this concrete cross (Malawi x Caribe), but should be a good one! The outcome should be a very vigorous and high yielding hybrid, sativa dominant yet tamed and easy to grow indoors, as both Caribe and Malawi are very potent, vigorous, high yielding and very well adapted to indoor growing. I think the outcome of your hybrid could be similar to Guawi, a very strong Malawi hybrid with improved central america sativa terpenes and qualities.

Thanks for sharing the excellent development of your Malawi and best wishes with the new cross, please keep us updated with its outcome ;)

Thanks Dubi

doing some trimming yesterday and seeds falling out everywhere...very nice seeds. I'll be trying to pop some soon.

Yeah, I want to try growing sativa's in a manner something like autos, from seed and small, So mimicking a winter grow indoors SOG style....I don't really like keeping mothers and clones and all that nonsense...they just never have the vitality you get from a fresh seed plant.,growing wise...

I'll be sure to keep updates,I wouldn't be surprised if these are sprouting in 2 weeks or less

Hi Jammal,

If you have just harvested the seeds it's better to let them rest for at lest 3 months before try to germinate them. Glad you got a nice amount of good looking seeds. Good luck!

Thanks again Dubi, Solid advice, Getting ahead of myself, I should know better haha.

I have a seedling of mangobiche x peyote purple I could do up in the scrog for next round, I had some clones of this Malawi, but they just were not as healthy as I'd like and got the axe...

but I'll take this time to try popping a bunch of 17+ year old beans of what I believe was some of the last of the good mexican highland desert sativas..

try to use the old mexicans to start off my 10/14 sativa adventures...if I can't get a dozen of them to pop, I'll do the mangobiche x peyote purple in the scrog like this malawi was done.

Looks like you got the more elusive colorful Malawi pheno with more refined purple aromas Jammal :)

very interesting she is, more purple in person than in the pic, but not like an Afghani...covered in "gobs" of trichomes that have melted together , just covered in monster sized glands ....the smell is very interesting ...I like it....

this is 1 day short of 10 weeks 10/14,,,will be getting the chop any day now as I feel to do it, within a week.

took a couple up close bright pics of dried flowers to show trichome texture, will give the sticky fingers.....very interesting aromas, like
sour grape sugar durban poison..basically if you smell it in a bag you would think ...wow this smells funk'n incredible..there is no skunkyness,,,but the smell alone , you know its potent ..

also couldn't help trying to sprout a few of the( malawiXcaribe) beans as the ones I did sprout were not doing good...
tried some that I harvested at a pruning early, they have been sitting out drying for about 30+....looks like near all them gonna sprout!:woohoo: here we go now
