What do you expect in a country that has 24 hour drive-thru gun and liquor shops......have that many guns and such a rabid gun culture, and folks git shot....even kids, by accident.

I am still on the fence where or not the 8 year old should have been shooting that gun, I guess if he had shot a big caliber gun or shotgun before, then sure... I grew up around guns, as did my parents. My Dad was hunting his own food at 7 years old with a .22, at 9 a 20 guage...

i was soo pissed, this was on the local news here last night, they had a poll online, and the answeres were yes, no, or "submachines are dangerous and should be outlawed completely" or something just like that. 22% of the retarded population here agreed with that. Surely criminals would get rid of the guns once they were banned.

And yah, sorry we dont have any drive thru gun stores, although that would be pretty cool and unnecessary. Down south there are some drive thru beer and wine stores, but they are not open 24 hours a day.

when will people realize that guns don't kill people....
LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY AND CARELESSNESS DO.
we'll never keep driver's licenses and guns away from
people who have no common sense. i really think we are
experiencing natural selection at it's finest today...
more-so than in the past even!
so the lesson? stay at home as much as possible, away from
people with guns and cars... you may live a longer life! :joint:

edit: btw, i like GUNS, it's people i don't trust!

easy guys, i didn't mean to cause dispute.

and for the record i don't care what stance you are, .22 rifles and other bb guns aside, an 8 year old boy shouldn't be handed a firearm that is setup to fire more than 1 round of ammunition since there is recoil involved. it wasn't the first round fired that killed the boy, but a subsequent round. as in 8 year old is handed an UZI (how is this not already throwing up red flags to people, AND I LIKE GUNS!) and he faces the target and squeezes and they gun fires and while firing the barrel kicks back and points at his face while his finger is still on the trigger.

i don't care who u are or what stance u are, but that is negligence on behalf of his father. even if the laws can't prosecute since a licensed instructor and guardian were present and that IS the exact stipulation in the law, that father should be ashamed of himself.

ok, got that out of my system. sorry!

i was about to start a thread about this

how horribly tragic.

He was led by an instructor and the kids dad is a medical director at an hospital

I cant imagine what they were thinking

my guess dads career is demanding and he does not spend that much time with his kids and

A) didnt know his sons real limitations

B) wasnt willing to do something that was child appropriate because it doesnt interest him and /or went for something over the edge to compensate for a time demanding career

maybe because you insulted approximately 30-50% of people with your "comment"...
maybe they didn't like you calling them "anti-people" or you insulting their intelligence.
maybe they didn't like the "anti-freedom democrat lobbyists = idiots" remark....

if you had only said that you felt bad about it, instead of judging half of america's political stance, maybe no one would think you were insulting....

by the way, i'm a liberal for the most part with some conservative views...
now you may go ahead and judge me! :biglaugh:

I think someone should have the right to own a hunting riffle but semi and full automatics should be banned outright.
There is no need for a SA or FA ever unless your a psycho.
Who the hell needs a machine gun for anything legal like hunting?
Often I think even hand guns should be banned but I also believe a person should have the right to protect their home and loved ones.
Thankfully I live in a peacefull and quiet city/province.
Everytime I have been to the US someone has shown me a gun, told me they had a gun, and a few have used them, never while in my province has this happened.
I've said it in other threads and I will say it again, the US gun situation is out of control, the laws are protecting gun nuts not people.
Of course if you take a citizens gun away then he is defenseless against criminals which will continue to own use them regardless..plus cops have them and they are just as bad IMO (these jackoffs tazer old women...wtf).
I'm sure there are alot of people who are trained and sane and are willing and able to enjoy them properly but at what cost?

It doesn't make me angry but just sad, especially for the parents.
I can't imagine coming home to my daughter dead from a shot from a gun I bought and owned...

No, actually I completely agree with you about feeling for the family. I too think it is a terrible thing to have happen. I also don't agree that guns should be heavily regulated, not just for hunting purposes either, I truly believe they are a citizens guard against criminals and an oppressive govmt. This is common ground.

I DO however completely disagree with labeling people who are anti-firearm as anti-freedom. This statement is the full of pretense and insult even before you equated it with idiocy.

I also take issue with you telling some one they shouldn't take offense to you blatantly stating that they don't know what they are talking about. Of course they are going to take offense to a stranger calling them ignorant. And why not? Where are your credentials? Your non-biased studies?

Fact is we are all entitled to our opinions and your first thoughts were good, just fell into a trap on the second part. I can't imagine a good reason to spread a hate filled message around. Positivity begets good, negativity bad.

For the record, I wouldn't hand my child a weapon of war for such a silly reason as machismo.

Listen to me jerky
Very tragic event. I look at it kind of like buying a kid a ferrari for his 16th birthday. Can he drive it? Sure. Will he get killed. Most likely. Bad call on the fathers part that he is going to have to live with for the rest of his life. Sad.

This is true. It was a horrible accident. I feel for the family and friends.

I've had a large friend of mine who knows guns lose control of a fully auto uzi in a shooting range, and they kicked him out. This was a careless error, but wouldn't have been that bad with a semi auto.

A different subject-
This is a unique gun store for sure.
Here's a link to an independent article describing the store.

speaking of the ferrari, i personally knew multiple people who got mustangs on their 16th birthday... 2 of them are now dead, and 1 of them totaled his mustang within the first year he owned it and broke both of his legs. he is lucky he can walk today, where our other two friends are both six feet under.

if my kid deserves a car on his sixteenth birthday, he'll get a honda accord, not a damn mustang or a miata... some parents send their kids off in a speeding sardine can, and then wonder why their child did not survive a car crash... i don't think you could wreck a miata without at least hurting yourself.... LOL... some people just need to think more objectively about the risks they take. personally, i'm a hermit for a reason. most of the time i'm not busy or working, i'm sitting at home reading IC... or doing something productive... the real world has gotten too out of touch with family values and positivity for me to surround myself with the public... i'd much rather sit and smoke a joint with you fine peoples... :joint:

A child that age or size should not have been firing a semi or full auto weapon even in a controlled enviroment. Shooting ranges I go to would never allow that size child to shoot a wepon of that caliber. As far as banning certain guns, did that not happen to weed when it was "re-classified" as a dangerous drug? Let the government take one right away, they will take away all they can. 24 hour booze and guns? Keep your euro-socialism to yourself. I have a constitutional right to do as I please to protect myself and I damn sure will if necessary. Can you say the same?

sadly, i live in the US and i can't... in my state u have to be in a fear for your life, and the court have rulled basically the person has to shoot u first. On top of that, due to a small MJ possession charge, it would be a pain in the ass to get a FID card.
