BIG UP to High Times Magazine

They were the first

They have been around the longest

They have seen some really rough times ... and now they are seeing the first steps towards outright legalization of MJ in the USA

An amazing ride

Great respect from me

Danny Danko is the man !!!

Its a fun magazine to read

Continued success

Stopped reading when professor afghani died late 90's

Have heard some disparaging things about some of the staff, and people I know who dealt with them won't anymore

i didn't forget about green merchant but tbh I never heard they were "in on it"

I have heard the other stuff but I did not want to directly slander anyone with 2nd and 3rd party info.

Had I first hand information or indisputable evidence then maybe ...

I know Danny Danko ( love him ) for many years ... and a bunch of others who work there too

Nothing but super nice guys ... who are no different than you and me ... except they work at High Times ... have a high profile ... and everyone wants a piece of them

Like everything in life - the magazine has changed with the times

if your into MJ - High Times is a fun magazine to read

High Times is still standing ... and will be around when full legalization comes

Who reads softcover anymore join the 21st century find advertisers to paid you to have their marketing on your Free site to improve, enhance and advance the causes involved with MJ from strain stabilizing to legal activists fighting to change the laws backed by research and clearer understanding, Someone needs to invent and testing system that can detect when your actually experiencing the THC's effect, meaning actively high at the time of testing and not just in your body and workplaces have no right to force testing it goes against Civil liberties and the personal information's acts most countries have..

It started with the best intentions but has strayed somewhat from its true path, of enlightening tokers to the benefits of a cannabis community ..
largely replaced with weed sites, that are fed from members experience, rather then informed from marginal reporters, and shoddy merchant ware?

I can imagine a much better mag is my opinion on it. But it's not like I am out there publishing something better so more power to them and the effort they put into it.

I had a Barnes and Noble gift certificate I was trying to use up, so I bought a High Times mag and some random WWII weapons book that was marked way down. The cashier gave me the weirdest look hahah. Haven't bought one in a while but I check up on the website quite frequently.

I would absolutely love to look through some vintage High Times magazines. Maybe I will check Ebay if they are cheap enough.

Reading "HighTimes" as a teenager and young adult helped to make me the grower and cannabis lover afficinado I am today.
Still remember showing my bros the centerfolds w cup spreads and planning my first trip to the dam as a HsGraduation trip w my 3best buds!!! Shit was beyond epic!

Wo acess to info on the cannabis culture I may hav never developed into a career grower and activist!
Now I recognize it's commercialism and glaring factual/editorial errors and flip through mostly for the comedic effect and to scope out new rediculis ADD's or outrages claims!!!

I still owe HT a debt of gratitude for pointing me on my path!!!
Also a big Thanks go out to Kyle kushman, Danny danko, Cervantes, Ed Rosenthal n many more for there assisting new growers and offering there advise on keeping our favorite plant happy and healthy.

Big ups respect and happy growing!

I was never a subscriber but would often browse thru it at stores that sold it. The only thing I ever thought critical of them about was when they did stories on some of the outrageous test claims from back in the 70's and 80's supposedly scientific tests of cannabis would claim. There was one test that made the claim it would cause young men to develop breasts. High Times ran a piece on this and although, as I recall, the story discredited the findings the fact that a story was done about it at all seems to me anyway to give the false claim some legitimacy.

Credit where credit is due (no one will argue that they weren't initially part of the movement that is flowering today) but living off of past accomplishments isn't a way to move forward into the future. There's no meat on the bone writing wise and one tends to get tired of mediocre bud shots.

I'll never pick one up again after reading the statement "We think we're the National Geographic of cannabis". I can only assume from that mental vomit they've either never read NG or have developed a corporate ego that needs it's own salary and benefits package.

I'd be surprised if more than a fraction of the readers today are much past their teen years. Saying all that, if I see a pre-90's issue in a thrift store or the like, I wouldn't hesitate to add it to the collection of old magazines I shouldn't be collecting.

I been in the High Times office - and storage room ... just for a peek

They have industrial metal racks that hold at least one copy of every issue High Times has ever published ... the rest of the room over-flows with all the products they have put out thru their many years in business

Without question or doubt ... stoner's of all ages - everywhere in the world ... including those who are critical - that if they had a few free minutes ... and if there was a copy of High Times laying around ... for sure they would pick it up ... and start flipping thru the pages with interest

Can High Times make a more appealing publication ?

What changes would you like to see ? ... what more ... or better can they do ?

i remember Green Merchant - Oct. 26, 1989.

I lived in the Bay Area at the time.

I shopped for hydro at Berkeley Indoor Garden (BIG) in the early 90's.

I always made it a point to take BART + a bus to get to and from the BIG store.

There was a quite a contrast in methods. Some guys would pull up in front in a pick-up truck, load up the bed with supplies, and drive away.

As far as High Times, it always seemed like a mixed bag.

I always welcomed the "Breath of Truth", WOW, people admitting they enjoyed smoking pot and talking about how to grow it, along with bud porn.

But the ads, the stories about the history, kind of left a person with a feeling that you wouldn't want to sign a contract with them.

Overall, I'm glad they're around.
