[Stealth] Stacked Tote Coco Grow - Blue OG - Papaya

I constructed a stealth grow box using two 30 Gal Sterlite tote storage containers using guides online. I have Blue OG by G13 Labs, and Papaya by Nirvana in 5 Gal fabric pots, only filled about 1/3 of the way with ~70/30 brick coco/perlite. I am using Canna A + B with pH'd tap water, with plans to use PK 13/14 during flower. 138 W (6 23 W CFLs) plugged into power strip mounted to lid of top tote container. I have the pots on a wooden crate to keep them close to the lights, with plans to remove that and move them down slowly as they grow.

I have been LSTing both plants, and fimmed the main stem of both, as well as two early side branches that grew out. I have also been actively defoliating to allow light to penetrate to lower nodes where I want growth shoots. This is Papaya up until today (Day 31).

I decided to flip them on Monday, so today marks the 5th day of flower for both.

Is this your first time growing this strain? Looks pretty indica dominant so I would assume it's going to stretch to about double it's height. But with CFL's, the more full the cab gets, the temps will increase and the higher the temp, the more the stretch. When I was growing CFL, I never let the platns get further than 3" from the light, but the problem there was my canopy was always around 85*F. The only way to help that was blasting my AC, which made the room too cold for comfort and the lady and I suffered a bit until I switch to LED. Not the worst thing in the world, they still grew nicely and made good buds, but the buds were a little airy.

How tall are they now? How tall is your grow space and how what's the maximum amount of space you have left between your light source and canopy?

They are 15-16 inches from pot bottom, about 10-12 inches from soil. My light fixture is taped "permanently" to the top of the lid, on the top tote container as shown in the picture. They were on a crate, and I recently switched it to a cardboard box that put them a little bit lower.

I wired a 100CFM 120mm PC fan (filtered outake) and two small 80mm fans (intake) to a power supply, and use the mesh pen cup style carbon filter. There is also a 6 inch "clip fan" taped to blow over lights and canopy. I have probably another foot of space. Right now the biggest growth constraint is horizontal area, rather than vertical.

Looks good man, you really got her to branch out. Good luck with the rest of your grow.

Thank you. It wasn't that difficult to LST the gals, keeping up with trimming fan leaves is the task!

This is day 6F.

I didn't take pictures for a few days as I was busy, however here they are at 12F. No signs of pistils yet, I'm hoping to see some soon.

Woke up this morning to Blue OG spitting out a lot of pistils almost everywhere! Still no signs from Papaya. They have been getting 10ml of Coco A + B and 2mL of PK 13/14 per gallon. I may either slowly up the PK, or keep it steady then spike it in week 3 or 4 of flower. Suggestions are welcome, this is my first grow as I may not have stated. I did a lot of research beforehand as I do with anything.

As far as the plants go, I like the grow pattern of the Blue OG plant more. It sends out a lot more shoots in response to just LST, with occasional topping, while the majority of the side shoots of the side shoots(off the main stem) have remained mostly small on Papaya. I have been lollipopping and defoliating regularly everyday to maximize light penetration, and minimize waste on growth that will not develop.

I want to take a few shots from angles not inside the grow box to further show their form and canopy development.

I may have accidentally caused a few hours of light in my 12/12 period on the morning of 3/7. I do not know when I accidentally pushed in the pins of my mechanical timer.

Papaya has yet to shoot out any pistils, and I don;t see any balls forming either. Blue OG continues to send out pistils on every bud site.

I moved them onto 12mL A + B and 2mL PK 13/14 per gallon.

Looking great man! How much more vertical space you got left? I would flip sooner than later. They look plenty full and they will fill out the space even more.

Probably half a foot or so. I flipped them 18 days ago today. My main concern is that Papaya has still not shown any signs of sex. my only guess is a light leak on just her side at this point. Tried to seal everything better, just hoping she'll show soon.

Humidity inside the grow box stays relatively high (Low of 50%, high of 80%), and I understand that this is bad for the flowering period, as it promotes mold growth. Any ideas to lower humidity? I imagine defoliating as I've been doing helps reduce the amount of transpiration.

Papaya officially has some pistils, will update with pictures later.

Looks like Blue OG might be a full week or more ahead of Papaya as far as flower development goes due to the curiously long time for Papaya to shoot out pistils. My main concern from this is nutrient schedules. Papaya already looks more yellow, especially in new growth, I think she may be a heavier feeder.
