Going to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam in 3 weeks

Been trolling for a while and found out all the info I could about Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. I also visited webehigh to check out some of the info there (although I do take some of the info with a grain of salt)

Heres a little sample of where I'll be headed..
Thailand (a week): Phuket and surrounding islands
Cambodia (11 days): Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, Sihounakville
Vietnam (9 days): Saigon, Dalat (maybe?), Nha Trang.

So I've pretty much come to the conclusion that getting high in Thailand is too dangerous for me to wanna even try. And that it will be very easy for me to acquire goods in Cambodia. I guess I jsut wanna know a little more about Vietnam and if anyone has experience in Nha Trang/Saigon (and if its really as easy as webehigh says it is). I want to get high! I have not been for a solid 6 months now, as I am in Korea, so if y'all could give me any hints/tips for these countries (esp. Cambodia/Vietnam) anything would be appreciated!!!! :smokeit: Thanks.

Greetings 8.5 x11,
Go visit the guys at Happy Herb Pizza on Sisowath Quay(on nthe Riverside) and say hello from Ed @ Delta-9 Labs. They mentioned to me that Skunk should be available around this time! But then again, they get excited when something really nice comes along and then they call it Skunk! Enjoy your trip and keep your back and head up at all times. Ed

 Cambodia and (probably) Laos would be my choices. I would avoid Thailand and Vietnam, and visit Nepal instead :D Here are links to a couple IC threads on SE Asia ...

my frend says its 10 bucks for a bag full of weed..stress though.. they say that the people in vietnam just throw the seed in a stealth area and come back in at the end of the season to harvest

So I've pretty much come to the conclusion that getting high in Thailand is too dangerous for me to wanna even try.

You've come to a pretty accurate conclusion. Tourists come here thinking they can act as if they were back 'home' but it just ain't so. Most of the weed here is compressed Lao weed anyway (there are a few growers). It works OK, but a stranger in a strange land? You could meet some one cool enough; or, someone in the business of setting fools up. Be ready to pay about $100 - 1000 US to get out of it Right Now - on the spot (cop's will escort you to an ATM if need be). They take you to jail it could cost from 2 - 5 times as much (more palms to grease).

in fact, I'd recommend you avoid Phuket completely even if you intend to stick to beer. Phuket is scam central as far as Thailand goes, google "jetSki Phuket" for an idea of ONE of the many scams to fleece the tourtists. Phuket is a shithole. The North of Thailand; Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Son, Pai, Chiang Rai are much better places to visit. You've got proximity to some western amenities but can be in rural hill tribe country in an hour or less. Pai has a few places where Ganja and 'Fin' (opium) are sold openly by Hill tribe folk. You're pretty safe as long as you remember to not try and wrap one and fire it up on the streets. Not alot of sell & snitch type hustles in Pai, or Chiang Mai for that matter.

I was in a village on the Burmese border a few years ago. Waiting for my ol' lady to finish settin' hill tribe folk up with IDs Passports and Driver's Licenses (Watchng the DL test was trip, folks made a day of it brought their whiskey, sticky rice and savory tidbits for a picnic, they did. Pa would do a few circuits of the B-ball court on 125 honda wobble a little bit avoid killing anyone and get his license!). Anyway I took a walk around the hills, came to a place where the smell of budding ganja was thick in the air (this was December). Now this smell is hard to resist but I decided to head back, ya know? Ended up in a valley between two hill-top pill boxes with canons pointed at each other, on one; the Burmese (Myanmar) flag and the other; Thai. ran into a couple humvees with mounted machine guns and some Doc Savage types on foot with M-16s. Now if they ain't found that weed patch, they are either in on it or I might've been a lot closer to Burma than I ever imagined. One of the older Doc Savage types told me the Village was The Thai headquarters of Kuhn Sa.

You can get stoned in the North relatively safely as long as you're cool about it, I have been in a bar where a couple of white boys fired up a joint, pissed off the mamasan but she held her tounge, I tend to avoid dipshits like that though. I've been here for 8-1/2 years, I've never been searched or hassled, I've got hair down to the small of my back and harldy look a fine upstanding citizen, but then I'm an old fucker So they tend to try and avoid disrespecting my age.

There is some rudimentary Green bud here; poorly dried, cured and manicured; mostly from Dutch seed companies grown by foreigners. The local stuff is good before they start man-handling it and compressing it or over drying it or a myriad otehr things you can do to make less appealing, but the high is there, sometimes you even get that old time Thai flavor or a bag of gems. I've yet to find anything on a stick except every kind of meat you could imagine. I know one guy buys the Laotian weed in Bangkok and brings it up to CM. There's a pretty strong market here and not a lot of real hard core enforcement of ganja rules.

While you're over here, try Laos. Luang Prabang or Vientien has some action. The country has some suppressive laws but enforcement is kind of sketchy, at best. Up country is about as fontier-like as you'd want, opium and ganja are grown in many places, but it is a true adventure. You might get lucky and cop some uncompressed Lao #1 in Vientien (pronounced "Wiang Chan," fuckin French huh?), the Tuk-tuk drivers will sort you out. about as good as it gets in this part of the world. I like Laos for a visit, it's close, cheap and laid-back language is close enough to Thai I can get by. Food's better than Thai food too! Only good thing that came out of the French colonization was Lao coffee and bread, but it IS good!

If you are mainly coming here to get stoned and find some once-in-a-lifetime ass-kicking weed, stay home; there is no doubt the weed is better there.

Enjoy your trip, I'm coming home (for a while, anyway).

er.. I'm going to put in a vote for Thailand. (good advice from frisco above) I've never been to Phuket (mostly cos i dont like the sound of it) but Ko Phan Gan is nice if you avoid HatRin and the horrible, horrible full moon party nonsense. I found realy good weed on KPG, some of the best heritage weed I have smoked. Ko Tao is even nicer as an island. And on the other side (for the other beach season), Raileh is an amazing beach, and you can (or could a couple of years ago) enjoy relatively safe and hassle free toking in Ton Sai (cheap cheap place to stay too). And then there's Pai, of course, if you are in the north.

Ok, I agree, Laos in nicer in many ways. Not sure about safer though. heard some pretty scary tales there.

Vietnam - not so keen on the north. Saigon's a blast though. And dead easy to score. The bookselling touts on the tourist street all (or mostly) sell. Just be discreet about where you smoke it!

Cambodia - I have only been to Siem Reap but the weed there was ok and Angkor is,of course, unmissable.

Nepal, if you can, a must.

thailand - islands like phangan and samui rock and you can smoke there if you stay cool about it. i would never smoke in bangkok but still love this city.

cambodia - awesome country and you can smoke virtually everywhere. just been there two weeks ago (hi mota!). angkor wat is great!
scored some nice nepalese hash from the happy hippi, the guy was kind of weird though.
sihanoukville was kind of boring bc they closed all places down at midnight due to a new law.

The closing at midnight has stopped, back to normal.

I spent three months in Asia. I covered a lot of ground, traveling from Bangkok through smaller towns to Laos, up to Luang Prabang, flew to Hanoi, flew to Bangkok, travelled by bus to Malaysia, took a train to Kuala Lumpar, and flew to the Philippinnes. What a trip!

I wouldn't discount Thailand at all. I notice most travellers who go land in Bangkok, go to Chang Mai, and then down to the islands in the south. Realize that most scams, touts, and general bullshit follows these types of travellers. I would rather focus on places less well known. I never had the chance to get to northern Thailand, although I do recognize that it lures a different type of traveller from the beaches of the south. The south wasn't my favoriate experience. YEARS of exploitment have made many locals bitter. I fucked over a few occasions, and was wise enough to spot these scams before anything too dramatic happened. BLEH, not MY scene.

Laos is pretty cool. Quite rustic, and laid back. I fell for a girl in Luang Prabang, and still think of her often. I stayed for over two weeks, fuck, I would go back in a hearbeat,

I took a bus ride through the south of Thailand into northern Malaysia. Tucked in the back of a minibus, with blinds drawn, I peak outside the curtains and see islamic women cruising on mopeds, dressed in black from head to toe. I see sandbag fortifications with men armed to teeth with big machine guns. Civil unrest.

In Malaysia, I was terrified. All alone in an islamic country. Babies look at me from their mothers arms, and nobody seems outwardly friendly. Funny thing is once I took a breather, looked around, and smiled.. they were some of the nicest people I'd met!

I have to agree with the consensus if you only have three weeks. I did enjoy Phuket though. It is a big island and you could avoid the riff raff if you wanted. We rented a cool villa and managed to get some good indoor from some expats, I think we just got lucky though. I enjoyed koh phi phi don and the boat rides. I am pretty easy to please about most things and, most likely not the best judge. The scam stuff is really easy to avoid with any street smarts. Enjoy yourself brother, it will not be hard.

If it would be me I wouldn't use any drugs in Thailand. If anybody wants to visit clubs, than be prepared for police raids, and they usually take urine tests from everyone. If you refuse, than it's jail time for 2 weeks.
But other than that I think with trustworthy locals in the deep jungle/very remote region, it's safe to smoke ganja, opium or trip on mushrooms.

Also the phrmacons sold by chemists are not all legal. so if you buy valium for example otc and get busted by police and you don't have a prescription, you're in trouble.
