How many of you have watched the movie Ocean's 13 ?
Do you know what happens when a casino pays out $1.60 on the $1 ?
Hint - if it was my casino, I'd close the doors.
Realized this today about the Mega Millions, at 10:30 AM.
Hint: the goal is not to win the Jackpot.
The goal is to win the 3 or 4 numbers - more than once.
Long story short, the Mega Millions has above even odds, until 7:30 PM Pacific today Tuesday.
Thought I would share that with the Deep Thinkers at ICMag !
Similar to the scene in Ocean's 13 when they game the casino.
Like in the picture, but take $1000 off those numbers.
So far I've played $100.
Came home to make sure the house wasn't on fire, eat lunch, take a bath etc.
Then back for more, probably.
And I'm actually putting my money where my mouth is ...
Hope a Cannabis-izer wins 5 numbers - or 6 !!!
PS One of the key statistical concepts in a betting game like this is, how much do you have to spend, to get away from "Lumpy-ness" ?
I won't know that 'in real time', before the end of game play today.
Also, obviously, you have to know - how much can $$ I afford to risk - like it was being burned up, with no return ?
I'm rolling the dice 50 or 100 times.
But to REALLY get away from Lumpiness, you have to roll the dice a lot more - like 1000 times. Which would cost $2000, when the game is $2 a play.
When today's game is over, assuming someone wins and the jackpot returns to $40 million, I can go and get the final pay-outs for 3, 4, and 5 numbers, to better understand the odds and the betting strategy.
Also, part of the situation is - you can't play when the pay-out is below $1 on the $1. And obviously, you want much better odds than that.
Long story short - most likely, after today, I won't be playing the Lottery for about 2 years. The last time the Mega Millions hit $1.6 Billion, was 2016.
