i tried doing my own research and had to luck with this issue. every once in a while both my lights fail to ignite.
equipment:
Xtrasun Dial-A-Watt E-ballast 1000W ballasts, maybe 6-9 moths old
1000 WATT HPS HORTILUX BULBs, maybe 3-5 months old
started with an analog timer and just switched to a "Defiant 15 Amp 7-Day Plug-In 2-Outlet Digital Timer"
each ballast is going through a different 20 Amp circuit in my house connected to a 60 ft extension cord.
each light has its own timer.
I am running dual 1000w set up in a 4x8 tent.
probably once a month or so now ill go down to check on everything and both the lamps fail to ignite. i unplug and re plug the ballast from the timers and they ignite instantly.
i tried staggering the on/off cycle 5 minutes so they don't try to both ignite at the same time and that hasn't solved the issue.
It seems weird that it only ever happens to both lights at the same time, never one or the other mis firing.
WHAT AM I MISSING HERE?
