BEND OVER BITCHES!! LST'ed Bubba and Purple Kushes

RROG-Resinryder's Rack O Green,,,hehehe

Here's a method I've been using for growing Bubba and Las Vegas Purple Kush.
Just wanted to show you how I train my bitches here at the ranch. I do my Kush's like this to open them up to get max light penetration , grow them BIG, and to get a huge yield off of them. The process pays off very well provided you have the time, space, and patience to work them this way.
I start them as clones in a 6x6" pot. Then to a 2 gallon pot, then to a 4 gallon pot and finish them up in a 7 gallon pot.
The girls are somewhere around 3 1/2 to 4 months old now. I'd have to look through my records to make sure.
They have been repotted to the larger 4 gallon pot at this time(3rd repotting) but I'll show you the basics that have lead up to where I'm at now.
I start with assembling the equipment I need for the job.
Twist ties, zip ties, bamboo garden stakes, side cutters(any kind of clippers will do that will cut through the stakes) a drill, and drill bits that will fit the lip of your pot and is large enough to allow the zip ties to pass through. I used a 5/32" bit.
The frame work will need to be attached to the new pots every time you repot them. I can be a pain in the ass to do, but once they are tied down they just need to be retied about once until repotting again is needed.

First off gather your materials-

Next I drill holes around the edges of my pots where I think I may need them. Can always move branches and drill more holes later if you need to. I then secure the bamboo stakes to the sides of the pot with the zip ties. Length of the stake is determined by how big I intend to get the plant before repotting it. The stakes get longer as the plant gets bigger. The following pics are just to show how I go about beginning to give you an idea of what I'm doing through out the process.

Just for info purposes, when I intend to grow a plant side ways, I plant it side ways in the direction I want it to grow. Makes it a lot easier to bend the main growth stem later on.
This pic shows the Bubba Kush, already tied down, but in need of being spread out and retied.

In the next series of pics, the stakes will be attached to the existing frame work. I make a kind of grid pattern to hold everything down. I attatch stakes 2 ways. Whole stakes and half stakes to lengthen existing stakes where needed. I double zip tie the half stakes for extra security. When the stakes are in place, I cut them to the length I need them with the cutters and I cut the remaining tails of the zip ties off.

Now that the frame has been expanded, I use twist ties to secure the branches to the frame. Longer branches sometimes require 2 twist ties to hold them down. I simply bend 1 end of the twist tie over the branch and tie the other end to the frame work where I intend to secure it. It's easier to start at the top end of the main stem and progress around the plant to the lower limbs at the bottom. This way you don't get the branches bunched up more than you have to.

After tying down all the branches, it will be necessary to remove any fan leaves that are blocking light to lower branches, those underneath the ones you've tied down. You don't have to remove a lot and it's mainly a judgment call every time to how you want the plant opened up. When the leaves are not removed the covered leaves will yellow, dry up and fall off. This is not a problem at all just natural progression. Tuck any leaves down through the frame that you can and simply remove the rest. You can also form the plant as you're training it by removing any growth from it you don't want. The last pic shows the plant all tied down and all leaves removed that I wanted to open the plant up.

The 1st pic is the 2 Bubba Kushes tied down and thinned out.
The 2nd pic is the LV Purple Kushes tied down and thinned out.
The 3rd pic is just a group shot.
Just for a reference point, those are 4 ft x 2ft T5's they are veggin under. They do get big and take up some room to do this but the yield in the end makes it ALL worth while!

These show how the plant looks from the top looking down. As you can see they will be getting max light exposure when it comes time to bloom them out.

Well, that's how I do it here in ryderville. Hope you learned something or at least got some new idea as how to do it your way. Ask any questions you may have and I'll do my best to answer.
This will be the thread to check in on when the girls go into bloom in a couple of months. That's right, a couple of months. Told ya I like to do em BIG!!! Might even up em to a 10 gallon pot for shits n giggles. Later!!!

Here's a few pics of them as of 6-24. If you look at the last set of pics in this thread you can see where the new growth has exploded over the past week. Everything you see standing up in the next set of pics is new growth.
First up is the LVPK. Both together then the last 2 pics show each separate.

These girls are about 4 months old and have another month and a half in veg before going into the bloom room. There will be 2 plants per 1K when the time comes.
