YAY! Roots... but Sci-Fi Gel ball at base.... HELP!

I have new root porn for you to see. I trimmed up the plants a little bit, and added a white widow/ O.G. kush to the pot on the front left of the fridge. I am witnessing a truly weird event, there is a ball of gelatinous substance at the bottom of one of my plants. I don't know if it is a late reaction from the cloning gel, or if it is a bad mold or fungus... PLEASE HELP ME OUT... I don't want anything to die and I can't figure out what it is.

Expert: Thank you again for your continued words of wisdom. We wipa with papa towla an misa say they stay. On a serious side. We have tried to wipe it off with no result. It has a bunch of water and air bubbles in it as well as a big cluster of VERY healthy looking roots, I can see at least 4 in there. Could it be a weird case of bolivia cloning gel going crazy? I have no Idea...

I don't know what it is but, my reaction would be to stick all the plants directly, one at a time, under the faucet for 5 minutes apiece to flush them all out. Dump the tank, sterilize with a 5% bleach solution, rinse well and put everything back together with a new batch of nutes.

Overly paranoid? Maybe but, we're talking 30 minutes of work.

Freezerboy: Thank you for your valued fridge grown info!! I just got done doing just that, minus the bleach and the fresh water bath for my girls. I am going to play this one out a minute, since the roots look healthy... but I am still forced to ponder what that alien goo ball is. I am fairly shocked to see that no one has seen that happen before. If I have to do it again FreezerBoy, it's always worth the thirty minutes for the cleansing process!

I'd be curious to know too, just not curious enough to let it stick around and see what happens.

Are you using anything more than the bare necessities? Micro, Bloom, pH down. The Strange Slime thread in the infirmary seemed to conclude it was all the additives (mostly aimed at defeating slime) that caused their troubles.

Now this weird shit is on all four plants. Does nobody know what this stuff could b. I am at wits end and I am just about to tear it apart and start over. Could it be from light getting into the sump? Is it a fungus that is harmful? Is it something that happens in hydro with northern lights? Is it normal? Anyone that knows anything please help!!!!!

Whatever you do, don't go tearing your grow up. It could be completely harmless, although it's very weird.

IMO, it's best to watch, wait, and try and find out what it is. Don't go taking drastic measures until you're sure it's the only option.

Thank you for the input Kizzattack and ScrubNinja.

I went over to the local hydro store and showed a buddy a few pictures. None of them had ever seen anything like it either, but one of them gave me some drops for root promotion that were really expensive. He said it would help the roots grow and kill anything that would stop them from doing so. So far the stuff is still on all the clones, but... it seems like the combined methods have helped a little bit... So for now, I am going to give these 5 baby girls awhile before I make the decision to term them. Thank everyone for all your help with my gro.

The new and De-Aliened Mini Fridge

So do you remember the weird slime that was growing in my sump? If not, here's a reminder:

I think it was starting to grow doner livers in my sump. Crazy shit man, don't look if you are light of heart...

So that combined with all the other Sh*t growing in my sump...

So I decided to take her apart and clean the crap out of everything. I scrubbed my sump 3 times with bleach, then let it sit and bubble in a light bleach solution. After that I rinsed my sump 3 times with fresh water. Then I re-filled with water and peroxide, and got rid of any and all evidence of any Alien-Liver-Crap! I took out 4 new net pots, and new clay balls. I also decided on changing the plant lineup a little bit.

The change is going to be that the new girls growing are a plant that I personally created. She is a heavy duty kind of girl, a BBW if you will. Short and dense, with Heavy and dense nugget growth, she is the Purple of my dreams. Mary Purpins is what I have named her and this is her world debut! Everyone...... Meet Mary Purpins!

So now the new fridge setup has a smaller and different light, just for getting the roots started. The back left plant is Northern Lights, and the other 3 are Mary Purpins. When they start rooting I will install the 168watt new lighting arrangment!

Good gosh-a-wally, what the hell was that? That was disgusting. I've seen nutes precipitate but, not like that. Are you using FloraNova? I've heard some growers use an electric paint mixer on it before putting it in the res. Wish I had some advice ... all I can say is I'd do exactly as you did. Nuke and pave, baby!

I'd drop the lamp to the height of the screen. Plants know where the good light is and will stretch out to get to it.

All the algae is gone. The water is beautiful. No more Alien donor lungs. All in all looking very nice. Thank all of you for your suggestions, but I think that there is a much better probability of success this time. The new Mary Purpins clones are looking like someone is holding a gun to their cola! They should be rooting soon. Look forward to new posts. The Purpins goes Ape Sh*t! Really something to look forward to.

Just found this thread. cool idea, I'm sure you'll get it squared away. I've seen that kinda stuff in my res before. Thats what I imagine my lungs look like!!!! nasty!
