Shiva Rosa (High Geraniol) Rose Terpenes

🌹Hello fellow ICMag friends!
The never ending adventure of cannabis genetics continues! I recently picked up some ‘Heirloom Afghani’ from the provider Alpha Seed Bank of Colorado with a 1.96% Geraniol content! Geraniol is the predominant terpene that gives roses and rose geraniums their characteristic ‘Rose’ smell.

I just germinated 8, and all 8 popped. The seeds are just sprouting above the soil now. The plants are labeled as Afghan Rose as I don’t believe they are a pure Afghani Kush. Planning to reverse males to test (either through sense or laboratory) for the most rose scented cannabis.

Once the terpene profile is set, I plant to bred a variegated plant with high anthocyanin content + photosynthetic pigments to breed pink/magenta plants (never green) and flowers with rose aromas.

nice,,, also nanda devi has dominant geraniol,,,
i tried the same, but in autoflowering format:
i keep kalyseeds nex pintura, ortega //low light need, antiherm,// ad crossed em with auto blueberry//variegated// and this with danes candy auto. Seeds were done on these ,,white,, varegiated buds.

About 1/4 of plants growed without greens, strictly yellow from begining but ,,slow,, and named this family ROSE auto.

There is another strain Golden Canary from top tao seeds,, when we talking ,,without green,,

I want only talk you that you can use some ,,lower light need strain,, to crooss with to variegated strain to easier domination of variegated mutation based on high light

Sounds like a long drawn out and fun project. I've never heard of that variety or seed bank.
I'm under the impression that Rose aromas can be found in DJ Shorts Flo line from time to time as well.

Best of luck and I hope you find what you're looking for. :tiphat:

Hey Burmese!
That information is extremely helpful, thank you very much!! :D

Awesome to hear you’re working on a similar project. How many generations is your ROSE Auto now?

I’m hoping to get the Nanda Devi from RSC to add to the line as soon as I can.

I have a pure Oaxacan line that is variegated and I noticed less light and nutrients increase variegated tendencies.

Definitely going to check out the Golden Canary in a few minutes! Thanks again!

Hey MJPassion!
Thank you for stopping by and the well wishes! I’m excited to take the time to get the results that I require, just like the big breeder man Luther Burbank :D Thank you for the tip on the Flo! DJ Short certainly has some amazing qualities in his genetics :)

yeah flo looks amazing too,,,i always wanted flo backcross to oaxacan, but always when i had money was flo out of stock. //and only smoked diamond head and oaxacan and they were quality//

to my Rose family question: i selected by variegation tendencys//beside other//, no i dont grow em to next F2-f3, only crossed one of them to kumaoni male.
And to prevent missanderstood, the name rose in my auto family is based in name of my wife roseanna and red color of plants //not based on geraniol//

I selected strains and store my seeds families for later legal massive selection,,,thats the dream, a technical plant which gives you 500g seeds and 500g of buds/m2 together in auto format and outdoor/indoor. Thats my selecting primarily thing, the variegation was pure luck and bonus and i cant confirm that all i wroted is 100% right //keep it only as inspiration

Hey Burmese!

I grew the Flo back in 2013 or 2014 and it all grew really similar, could have passed for clones. The smell was blueberry syrup. Sorry to hear you haven’t gotten it yet, keep hope though!

That Rose auto sounds like an amazing variety, continue on your great work and interesting project.

A real seed sift is tough with unfriendly laws and harsh penalties and punishments. I am extremely grateful the there is now (due to legalization) there is no immature plant limit so I can do a huge seed sift and really look for plants that “fit the bill” for the breeding projects I have going on. Best of luck with your 500 x 500 plants!

,,,,no plant limit ,,, glad to hear something like that,, you are one piece of lucky man

Hey Burmese!

I was shocked and grateful to see that was the case for the city I live in.

I intend exercise my freedom now and really get a good selection next seed pop :tiphat:

Hey Clearheaded!

Thanks for the review of rose terps. Can’t wait to see what’s hiding inside these genetics!

I’m going to get all of those characteristics into stability :) terps, color and all, :biggrin:That is the goal of the Shiva Rosa.

All 8 of the Heirloom Afghani Kush germinated and sprouted! :dance013:
Excited to see what they hold. Really showing Broad Leaf Drug (BLD) leaves in the first set. Looking forward to smelling the flowers!

Any updates? I have been getting a ton of Rose terpines from my own seedline in certain phenos. How did they turn out?

Unfortunately I haven’t flowered any out to see yet. I ended up with my hands more full than expected :) Good luck on your project!

Funny enough the most rose smelling strain I have tried was a burmese haze. Had litchee to rosewater dominant smell with a skunky background and a racy social high.

Hey Clearheaded,

Nothing I can specify other than a faint ganja smell. I'll update when I have more updates =) thanks for stopping by.
