The Crap I Have to Deal with...

time for some soothing winters bleakness eh?
still have at least another month before it starts getting cool enough to start cutting things back, but the native desert stuff i can probably stop watering now, just in the middle of 3-4 days of rain so everything is getting a good soaking...blooms everywhere....

The whitewash will be a relief. However, theres still the light of the sun glinting off of crystal clear icicles, the play of early morning light and shadow across the face of drifted snow - it just makes me sick.:puke:

And even before that, autumn - more vibrant colors and spectacular scenery. :wallbash:

Id wait a bit longer to cut things back, but if I did, I wouldn't be able to get it all done. Fall cleanup, projects and winterizing doesn't leave enough time for the 100 or so beds I care for - from the size of a love seat to nearly big enough to park 2 mobile homes end to end.

Id love to see the desert in full bloom. It always looks amazing in documentaries. Bet Id become the only person to ever have an optically triggered allergic reaction if I did see it.

You guys have it so good. Soon Winter will throw a white blanket over everything ugly. All those awful colors will be replaced with a nice uniform white beauty.

While the assault on our senses here in Hawaii continues non-stop. Colors, colors always with the colors....make them stop!!!

Thank you sir.

Trichrider.... Many of us offended by this unwarranted assault on our eyes, just like you....maybe you will consider a class action? Let all of us get in. Of course you can be the lead plantiff.

LyryC....did you see the Jackson right above the plum in the first pic? They also guard fruit....and do a fine job too. In that pic is a she. Pic you commented on below is a he.

Not much left in the plant aspect of this horrible thread - maybe some pretty leaves and then some gnarly trees.

Thats rattlesnake plantain you mentioned: Native American kids were said to have rubbed the leaves in order for the tissue to loosen up enough to inflate them like balloons to play with. When you don't have Toys-r-us you make do I guess.

I never touched any of them, there were really so few - and they were all growing through a very specific medium - and having spent my whole life wandering the woods, Ive only ever seen them in this one place.

My point being, I have no idea what their physical properties may be, Ill have to take your word for it. The leaves were obviously fleshy, so I can see how a pocket could be formed. Interesting.

Nothing stunning here - of course.

Poor beech tree ( 1 of my favorites) cant find any light to grow up into, so shes topped herself.
