The story of a 5-year-old North Carolina boy who reportedly was killed when a man ran up to him and shot him in the head for no known reason apparently was not compelling enough to merit US mainstream media coverage.

There were some details that might have drawn the attention of the decision makers at CNN, the Washington Post and other mainstream outlets, that have remained conspicuously silent on the story. The boy, Cannon Hinnant, was riding his bike in front of his own house Sunday in North Carolina, and the 25-year-old suspect was a neighbor. He allegedly shot the child at point-blank range as the boy's 7- and 8-year-old sisters looked on.


The hair-raising details of the incident, however, are not gracing the front pages. While it can be speculated why the story was generally overlooked, the fact is Hinnat was white. The alleged shooter, Darius Sessoms, who was arrested Monday, is black. Critics of mainstream media, such as podcast host Matt Walsh, said they've seen a pattern of black-on-white violence being ignored by the press and white-on-black violence being hyped to fit an agenda.

“This is an actual conspiracy,” Walsh said Tuesday on Twitter. “These media companies have to make an editorial decision to blacklist stories like this. It's not like they haven't heard of it. This is a considered and intentional decision to ignore the murder of a child, and the reason is that he's white.”

Walsh added that the shocking nature of the incident belies any suggestions that the story wasn't newsworthy on a national level. “It is absolutely jaw dropping,” he said.

While the killing of a child would seem to add to the story's news value, some netizens argued that even murders of black children are largely ignored when the alleged perpetrator is also black.

Underscores my earlier remark that WE NEED REAL INFORMATION - not just ‘reports’. RT, for example, has a ten-year history of distorted and ‘creative’ reporting; I will NEVER assume anything from their feed is valid or correct without genuine corroboration (ie, multiple checkable sources). For example, the shooting in Chicago: 15? 20? HARD facts, please; without them, it’s all assertions...I regret not having any way (currently) to validate the 15yo assertion (no, I *dont’t* think I’m perfect or ‘know everything’)...but I won’t change it or erase it. I’ll just own it and my lack of source.

Man held on $1 million bond in shooting that allegedly sparked looting in Chicago

CHICAGO — The man whose shooting by police in Englewood on Sunday allegedly sparked looting in downtown Chicago was ordered held on a $1 million bond Tuesday.

Latrell Allen allegedly shot at police officers, who returned fire, wounding him, touching off a series of events that ended in chaos in some of the city’s top shopping districts, authorities have said. He was being pursued because he matched a 911 caller’s description of a man with a gun trying to start a fight at a park full of children, Cook County prosecutors alleged Tuesday.

Latrell Allen took off running when police responded, then fired eight shots at the pursuing officers, according to prosecutors.

Allen’s defense attorney immediately cast doubt on prosecutors’ story, noting in court that none of the officers had body-worn cameras and that Allen’s hands were evidently never swabbed for evidence of gunshot residue.

Police have acknowledged the officers involved in the incident were from a new unit that had not yet been assigned body cameras, so the shooting itself was not captured on video.

But Judge Susana Ortiz noted that it was “a very dangerous situation,” given that Allen apparently had a loaded gun near a park in a residential area. She ordered Allen, who is hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds, held on a $1 million bond.

False claims about the shooting, including one that said police shot a 15-year-old, allegedly gave rise to a heated scuffle at the scene Sunday afternoon and then fueled social-media messages urging people to head downtown. Widespread looting followed, police have said, despite their attempts to deploy hundreds of officers to stop it.

Allen, 20, pleaded guilty last year to breaking into a car in suburban Evergreen Park and was sentenced to probation, records show. He also faces a pending misdemeanor reckless conduct and child endangerment case from earlier this year, according to court records.

In that case, Allen allegedly posted a message on Facebook saying he would shoot his 1-year-old child if he didn’t get some money, then took off running, with the baby in tow, as the police responded. He jumped over a fence and through an alley, at one point leaving the crying baby behind on the ground, according to a police report.

do you know how many times offcom and US regulators have made claims about RT publishing fake news? they can never prove it. it always turns out RTs reporting was correct. offcom has been trying to shut them down for 10 years. but they still have their licence to operate.

its so easy to google the information, check it for yourself. please tell me they lied about this 5 year old getting executed.

as for the guy who got shot causing all the rioting and looting, he supposedly opened fire first.

edited to add: to me the story is not that some nut case killed a 5 year old, thats not why i posted it. it's to show you the msm has an agenda, they have a narrative and are perfectly willing to ignore things that don't fit their agenda driven narrative. in fairness to WB, RT does it too. they pick and chose what to report on. but they don't tend to outright lie. they just don't mention the news stories that go against their agenda driven narrative.

this is why i'm always telling folks to break out of their news bubble and look at the exact opposing sides news too. only this way can you understand whats really going on. no one side will tell you the full story. only by reading both sides can you discern the probable and logical truth.

these guys were not new hires. why would they leave their body cams behind when they were transferred? did they leave their firearms & handcuffs too? NO ONE should be carrying a firearm WITHOUT a camera AND audio working. if they bitch & say "you don't trust us!" say "damn right. wear your fucking camera or find a different job. McDonalds is hiring..."

can't argue with that, its highly suspicious that no body cams were present and running.

although it looks like he was posing on facebook holding the same snub nosed pistol they found on him.

Something similar happened near me. The Leftist were up in arms, it was a lynching. They family didn't want to release surveillance footage. It seemed to be common sense, but the local Leftist insisted it was a lynching. Because they wouldn't release the footage.

Why does the public desire, overcome the families wishes?

Is the left now calling for a more prevalent surveillance state?

That's fucking terrifying.

i think the General Public has a right to have access to the medical records of every mass shooter.

some will cite HIPAA but I dare say, mass shooters lose their access to privacy.
