first grow 4 strain 12/12 from seed

So here's the deal, i ordered 5 auto jack 47 seeds and got these four free. Well I made short work out of the auto jacks and killed most before they sprouted. I believe high temps and impatience on my part played a major roll in their demise. So i changed closets germinated the free seeds and never looked back.
The setup
250w hps
Hyponex potting soil
A fan for air circulation
Silver kush one week old, sour kosher, underdawg og, and a dinafem white widow all 2 days above soil.

I am trying to keep it simple this time, just a little run for some learning experience before I get serious. Thanks for reading please any advice or input would great greatly appreiciated. I will post pics in a second

Not much to see but here is the setup.

Thanks man, the silver Kush is just over a week old and already starting to smell good. Sometimes I catch a wiff drifting into my bedroom. Is it normal for such a young plant to be stinky already or do I have some extremely potent stuff growing?

Some strains have a strong smell fairly early. Others not so much. In my experience indicas are on the strong smelling side.

Good circulation is important. Try to setup airflow around the plants without the fan blowing air directly on the plants. With air blowing directly on them, the leaves will transpire more cause the plant to use more water, pulling more nutrients and leaving salts behind.

Use botanicare "silicablast" @5 ml per gallon throughout the entire grow for stemwall strength and overall plant vigor.

The better you can control your temperature (around 75 degrees with lights on, no more than 10 degrees cooler with lights off), RH (humidity 60-70 % in veg, and 40-50 % in flower), and air exchange (CO2 replenishment) the more dialed in your grow will be. Try to exchange your air twice a minute, or just do what you can. They'll grow fine.

Read other peoples grows to learn more techniques !!

Good luck

Thanks man that Lil silver Kush is my baby, she's growing up nicely. She got a week of 18hr light and it must have paid off. The other three have been 12/12 from seed, they are doing good but I wish I would gave them 18hrs for a week as well. I have the light about 12inches from the canopy and the seedlings are stretching a bit, but any closer and the temps get to high. Right now it's 88f, what can I do to lower temps? I am going to purchase a 440cfm fan with a carbon filter, I have 207sqft of air so I will clean the air twice a minute. Will this lower my temps? I can't be stinking up the place so either way I will buy the filter but if it also kept the temps in the 70s that would be awsome. I found a 500w vipar led grow light on Ebay for 350 and im gonna get that baby as soon as my pockets will let me, aka after my first harvest. Until then what can I do about my high temps? I'll throw in some pictures cuz there has been a nice bit of growth. I noticed they do a fair bit of growing in the dark, man I am hooked to this growing shit, I love coming home and seeing them bigger. My silver Kush has three nodes already and leaves are coming out from where the leaves stem meets the stalk. Im rambling here's them pics... Yeah it's steak night

Yes,increasing your air exchange to twice per minute will lower your temps, assuming your outside air temps are cooler than your grow room. Put the fan on a timer so it comes on with your lights and turns off 5 or 10 minutes after lights out. Better yet, put the fan on a controller that will turn the fan on and off depending on your tempertures...example...on at 75 degrees, off at 70 degrees.

Also, buying a bigger fan than you need and then running it at a slower speed, with a speed controller, will reduce noise levels. Making your intake larger than the fan size will help with noise. Another noise reducer is to use insulted ducting, but to take it to another level, try this. For example, if you are going to use 6" insulated ducting, then also buy 8" insulated ducting and insert the 6" ducting into the 8" ducting. Finally, making a box for your fan filled with egg crate foam will help a lot.

If your air exchange is not keeping your temps low enough, to further reduce temps you'll need an air conditioner. Window/Wall bangers are fairly cheap and more efficent than stand alone portable AC's, because window unit have no ducts to exhaust hot air.

Speaking of ducts, to make you air exchange as efficent as possible, keep your ducts as straight as possible. Dead straight is best. No 90 degree turn is at all possible.

The LED light will work for vegging, but I wouldn't count on great flowering results. HPS is much better. Just my opinion after reading enough articles and grow journals to convince me to stay away from LED for flower. $350 for a 500w LED is an amazing deal though. That would tempt me into buying it for a veg only light.

Hope this helps

day 14 update

Two weeks for the silver kush, one week for the other three. Growth is really starting to take off and i am loving every minute of it. I fed them with some miracle gro 4/8/4, 2 tbls in a gallon of water split between all 4. They seem to have liked it. I know your not really supposed to fed seedlings but its a light fertilizer so i figure why not, im trying to squeeze as much out of them as possible so i am going to continue to fed every other watering, about once every six days. When they start to flower i will switch up the nutes but for now its miracle grow (i know there are better options but im poor). Here's the porn

Thanks man, I killed 5 auto jack 47 before these, I watered them right after I planted them then freaked out thinking I ruined them when I really should have left them alone but lesson learned. Now I just peak at them a few times a day and let them do there thing. I smoke with them some times, for the co2 of course. Anyways have you been growing for ten years straight? I would like to make some strains of my own eventually but for now I would be happy as hell just to break even. Im going to use whatever money from this grow to upgrade and try to get better dialed in. I want two 4x4 tents an some led lights, Ebay has really good prices. Everyone swears by black star but vipar is cheaper, plus there units have more 3w lights than black stars of the same price. I will buy one eventually and do a test flowering run to see my results. If you have ever seen how much light a little LED flashlight puts out, well the only conclusion I can draw is that thegrow lights must put out some serious light. As long as you have the right wavelength then it should be usable to the plants right? I am high and rambling, came across some morphine today, but led technology today isn't the same as it was as little as two or three years ago. But then again I could be wrong, either way if the LED don't flower well then it will be my veg room star.

So everything is going good. They are growing more and more everyday. The silver Kush is really starting to put on some leaves, it's really cool to watch. I can't wait to start to see some buds but im sure I still have a ways to go. I am owed money that should come thru any day, once it does I will order my carbon filter and fan. Im not sure if I'll be able to get the speed controller, I probably won't just yet so that I can get some seeds. I am thinking about Dutch passions think different. It's an auto that I have read good things about. So here's the pics.

super cropping

super cropping

So I pinched the top stem of the silver Kush, I would like to keep her short and bushy so hopefully this helps other than that every thing is going good they are growing pretty quick it seems, although I have nothing to compare them to. Could I take a clone or two from the silver Kush? Would I be able to change the clones light cycle without stressing them to much?

day 21 and 14

day 21 and 14

Nothing new, the silver Kush is looking good, the sour kosher is handling the 12/12 light cycle the best closely followed by the underdawg OG,and the white widow isn't far behind them. The silver Kush got a week of 18/6 but I think the sour kosher is growing at the same rate, maybe a little faster. Now sign of flowering from any yet.

Here's a picture of the plants today just after lights out. Closet to the camera is the underdawg OG, to the left is the sour kosher, the bigger one in the back is the silver Kush, and the smallest one is the white widow. The super cropping seems to have worked, most of the growth has come from the lower branches. I am hoping to get an oz or better from the silver Kush, 4oz total would be fantastic but im not to hopeful. Still no signs of flowering yet but hopefully soon. Thanks for reading, I hope someone will find some of this useful, I have learned everything I know about growing but reading things like this.

Hell yeah, im glad someone is interested. I am thinking I might get a few oz, but I really have no idea. The tips of the leaves are.curling downward, but only at the top of the silver Kush. I was thinking it could be from the heat but it doesn't feel that hot. Any ideas?

From what I've read it could be over watering, or something to do with high Ph levels. Possibly over feeding with Nutes. Not sure though because I'm on my first grow as well :dunno: Maybe post that up on new growers or search for the same problem

Damn, it could really be any of those things, its only at the top of the tall plant and not to bad so im not gonna stress it right now. They r growin like weeds and all have small branches coming in from the low nodes, they are short but packed with growth, new growth is coming in quicker that i can keep up with. heres todays pic. Forgot to mention, the white widow still isnt doin to much, but she to has new growth under the canopy.
