Inbreeding study reveals why humans don’t have sex with their relatives.

Mostly on ICMAG we are concerned with plant breeding, but the genetic history and future of humanity is also very important if we are to avoid having kids that exhibit a whole host of congenital physical and psychological abnormalities in generations to come.

I found this article on RT about it.

'Even 34,000 years ago, our ancestors knew having sex with their relatives was a bad idea. Analysis of ancient human remains found in Russia has revealed that even among an extremely small society, incest did not take place.

The study, led by Cambridge University and the University of Copenhagen, says prehistoric humans developed surprisingly sophisticated social and mating networks and deliberately sought partners beyond their families.

The study has led to speculation that this could partly explain why anatomically-modern humans proved more successful than other species such as Neanderthals that did not avoid inbreeding.

Researchers examined genetic remains of four anatomically-modern humans from Sunghir, an Upper Paleolithic site in Russia. Unusually for finds from this period, the people were found buried together.

To the researchers’ surprise, the individuals were not closely related in genetic terms. At the very most, they were second cousins. This is true even in the case of two children who were buried head-to-head in the same grave.

Objects and jewelry found buried with the remains suggest they may have developed rules, ceremonies and rituals to accompany the exchange of mates between groups which perhaps foreshadowed modern marriage ceremonies

Professor Eske Willerslev, fellow at St John’s College, Cambridge, said in a statement: “What this means is that even people in the Upper Paleolithic, who were living in tiny groups, understood the importance of avoiding inbreeding.

“The data that we have suggest that it was being purposely avoided. This means that they must have developed a system for this purpose. If small hunter–gatherer bands were mixing at random, we would see much greater evidence of inbreeding than we have here.”

By comparison, genomic sequencing of a Neanderthal individual from the Altai Mountains who lived about 50,000 years ago indicated inbreeding was not avoided.

It led researchers to speculate that an early, systematic approach to preventing inbreeding may have helped anatomically-modern humans to thrive, compared with other hominids.'

Yes agreed, and as these incestuous populations emigrate from there home nations to the west, we are now seeing many more problems associated with the practice within our own societies.

I can't really understand why they don't make laws that are always enforced to prevent this imported plethora of incestuous unions that result in inbreeding depression, that inevitably society becomes burdened with.

Here is an interesting article on incest in Europe where the law was enforced:

Laws banning incest between brothers and sisters in Germany could be scrapped after a government ethics committee said the they were an unacceptable intrusion into the right to sexual self-determination.

“Criminal law is not the appropriate means to preserve a social taboo,” the German Ethics Council said in a statement. “The fundamental right of adult siblings to sexual self-determination is to be weighed more heavily than the abstract idea of protection of the family.”

Their intervention follows a notorious case in which a brother and sister living as partners in Saxony had four children together. The couple had been raised separately and only met when the brother, identified only as Patrick S, was an adult, and his sister Susan K was 16.
Patrick S was sentenced to more than three years in prison for incest and the couple have since failed in their bid to have the guilty verdict overturned by the European Court of Human Rights.

The family was forced to live apart after the courts ruled that there was a duty to protect their children from the consequences of their relationship.

Two of the couple’s children are disabled, and it is believed that incest carries a higher risk of resulting in children with genetic abnormalities.
But the Ethics Council dismissed that argument, on the basis that other genetically affected couples are not banned from having children.

The Council said it based its recommendation on extensive research, in which it found many incestuous couples are forced to live in secret.
In one case, it found a woman was being blackmailed by her father and ex-husband, who threatened to depive her of access to her children unless she ended a new relationship with her half-brother.
Incest remains illegal in the UK and most European countries, although France abolished its incest laws under Napoleon I and there has been growing debate over the taboo in Germany.

Around two to four per cent of Germans have had “incestuous experiences”, according to an estimate by the Max Planck Institute.
But a spokeswoman for Angela Merkel’s ruling Christian Democrats indicated the government was unlikely to adopt the Ethics Council’s recommendations.

“The abolition of the offense of incest between siblings would be the wrong signal,” said Elisabeth Winkelmeier-Becker, legal policy spokeswoman for the party’s group in parliament.

“Eliminating the threat of punishment against incestuous acts within families would run counter to the protection of undisturbed development for children.”

10 Royal Families Riddled with Incest
https://listverse.com/2014/11/26/10-royal-families-riddled-with-incest/

...One of these was the British royal family.

Queen Victoria is well known as a prolific matriarch who believed that intermarriage between European royalty could guarantee peace. Her matchmaking, first of her nine children then of her grandchild, cross-pollinated nearly every royal family in Europe but greatly contributed to the end of the imperial age. In fact, family relations between the descendants who ruled England, Russia, and Britain were very central to World War I.

Kaiser Wilhelm’s extreme insecurities and anger toward Britain was directly linked to his English mother’s insistence throughout his upbringing that anything English was superior to Germany.

Historians point to the years leading up to World War I as plagued not only by political upheaval but personal familial vendettas by Wilhelm against his cousins King Edward VII and Tsar Nicholas II of Russia. Family feuding was not the only calamity that resulted from the royal inbreeding.

Queen Victoria and her husband Albert were first cousins. Along with their descendants marrying among themselves, this is likely how the affliction of hemophilia spread: a woman must acquire the gene from both of her parents.

Five grandchildren and one child of Victoria’s died due to complications of hemophilia. Her granddaughter Tsarina Alexandra’s treatment for the afflicted Alexis, heir to the Russian throne, was the most disastrous for the world at large. During World War I, the stress of having the Tsar off with his soldiers at war, as well as the constant battle to keep her son from dying, pushed the Tsarina to keep a self-described mystic healer named Rasputin as one of her most trusted confidants. Nobles and laypersons alike grew suspicious of Rasputin’s growing power.

The Tsarina’s dependence on the mystic, as well as her German lineage, added spark to an already dangerous powder keg of Russian discontent. The Imperial Family were murdered after the Tsar was forced to abdicate the throne.

In what countries is incest legal?

Incest is legal in many countries: Brazil, Russia, France, India, Sweden, Belgium, Japan, etc. Most countries do not support sibling marriages legally as there is a high chance of birth defects. Sweden is the only country in Europe which allows marriage between siblings who share one parent. See more details here:

Permitted Perverted Desires: Mothers, Sons, and Sexual Entertainment in Japan

In the late 1980s and early 1990s there was a media panic in Japan about the prevalence of mother-son incest. For many years there has been a huge market for magazines, manga, anime, and even DVDs depicting mothers having sex with their sons. Although the reality of the relationships in the photos and DVDs could easily have been questioned producers of these products have began to go to greater lengths to promote the reality of the incest. even to the point of showing older family photographs, identity cards and asking neighbors if they are actually a mother and son couple.

Then in the mid '90s so called Mama Love (or Kinshinsokan Monogatari) Clubs began to be opened up across Japan. They were serving a subculture of the Japanese sex industry catering to a variety of sex tolerated and even encouraged and celebrated in Japan mother-son incest. Most of these businesses are believed to be ran by companies secretly funded and controlled by the Yakuza.

Into these clubs would come men eager to pay large amounts of money to see older women having sex with young men that were promoted as being their son. Then slowly a small trickle of women started to come in bringing their own sons or other young boys to watch. And now most of these Mama clubs have some type of amateur night for mother/son couples to perform on stage before the crowd.

It is estimated that there are between 50 and 150 of these clubs throughout Japan and it has become a rapidly growing part of the live sex entertainment industry in Japan these last few years. Although they do not openly advertise and are generally only accessible at first if accompanied by a current member of the club.

How has this widespread and seemingly accepted form of what most view as deviant sex come about?

The situation is normally said to be blamed on the excessive motherly love almost all Japanese women shower on their sons; idolizing them and viewing their sons as the greatest object of their hopes, dreams, and love, and Japan's obsessive exam culture.

A boy's whole future can depend on the senior high school he gets into. And it is not just a matter of pride. The difference in a single score point can mean the difference between a school where the son may associate with future political leaders and corporate executives developing life long friendships that will be his key to future success and having to drudge away behind a desk as a salary-man all his life.

The mothers get into a psychological condition where they're aware that sexual urges can stop their children from studying and feel that they are the best option for countering the craving.

Some mothers will do anything to make sure their junior high school sons pass the all determining entrance exams.

They want to get their boys into a good school and then go on to a top company. That's why the women will do absolutely anything to combat something that interferes with their boys studies.

However the truth is much deeper ingrained into the society.

Studies show that almost 80% of Japanese men report they have had some form of sexual contact with their mothers with most of the sexual contact between mother and son beginning at a very early age.

A boys childhood in contemporary Japan, although somewhat more Western than that of other Eastern nations, still includes masturbation by mothers "to put them to sleep." Parents often have intercourse with their children in the same bed with them, and "co-sleeping," with mothers physically embracing the child, routinely continues until the boy is ten or fifteen.

One recent Japanese study found sons sleeping with their mothers over 20 percent of the time after age 16. A recent sex survey reported "hot lines" of sexual abuse saying that mother-son incest in almost a third of the calls, the mother saying to her teenage son, "It's not good to do it alone. Your IQ becomes lower. I will help you, " or "You cannot study if you cannot have sex. You may use my body," or "I don't want you to get into trouble with a girl. Have sex with me instead."

The husbands are usually said to encourage the situation ........

Islam and Inbreeding.

Nicolai Sennels is a Danish psychologist who has done extensive research into a little-known problem in the Muslim world: the disastrous results of Muslim inbreeding brought about by the marriage of first-cousins.

This practice, which has been prohibited in the Judeo-Christian tradition since the days of Moses, was sanctioned by Muhammad and has been going on now for 50 generations (1,400 years) in the Muslim world.

This practice of inbreeding will never go away in the Muslim world since Muhammad is the ultimate example and authority on all matters, including marriage.

The massive inbreeding in Muslim culture may well have done virtually irreversible damage to the Muslim gene pool, including extensive damage to its intelligence, sanity, and health.

According to Sennels, close to half of all Muslims in the world are inbred. In Pakistan , the numbers approach 70%. Even in England , more than half of Pakistani immigrants are married to their first cousins, and in Denmark the number of inbred Pakistani immigrants is around 40%.

The numbers are equally devastating in other important Muslim countries: 67% in Saudi Arabia , 64% in Jordan and Kuwait , 63% in Sudan , 60% in Iraq , and 54% in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar .

According to the BBC, this Pakistani, Muslim-inspired inbreeding is thought to explain the probability that a British Pakistani family is more than 13 times as likely to have children with recessive genetic disorders. While Pakistanis are responsible for three percent of the births in the UK , they account for 33% of children with genetic birth defects.

The risk of what are called autosomal recessive disorders such as cystic fibrosis and spinal muscular atrophy is 18 times higher and the risk of death due to malformations is 10 times higher.

Other negative consequences of inbreeding include a 100 percent increase in the risk of stillbirths and a 50% increase in the possibility that a child will die during labor.

Lowered intellectual capacity is another devastating consequence of Muslim marriage patterns. According to Sennels, research shows that children of consanguinous marriages lose 10-16 points off their IQ and that social abilities develop much slower in inbred babies.

The risk of having an IQ lower than 70, the official demarcation for being classified as retarded, increases by an astonishing 400 percent among children of cousin marriages.

We will get there matey......as we address this problem around the world.

Personally I think that it is a VERY important topic, because it is all about the future of the human race, if we can evolve out of the feudal state that we are in and look to a happy and healthy future for our kids.

For that we will need intelligence and education globally, for all people to be able to reason and live together in harmony.

Inbreeding will prevent us from going forward, and will just lead to global madness and ill health.

Essentially inbreeding will cause us to to go backwards, (de-evolve) instead of going forwards.

Charles Darwin was one of the first scientists to demonstrate the effects of inbreeding depression, through numerous experiments on plants. Darwin's wife, Emma, was his first cousin, and he was concerned about the impact of inbreeding on his ten children, three of whom died at age ten or younger; three others had childless long-term marriages

Another, or bigger threat to the gene pool imo is modern medicines ability to keep people with genetic diseases alive, diseases that in the past would have been fatal, and then to go on and breed these disorders into their children. I think we are starting to see the results already and I can't see any solution. No compassionate society will, could or should deny treatment, so what do you do? Natural selection has been turned on its head. As in so many of the problems plaguing humanity, from climate change to overpopulation and everything in between, evolution will eventually sort it out.

 Yes Darwin !

Education rhymes with intellectual masturbation on this case ... Natural instincts are obviously better . Cats and dogs win !

And I agree Mick , nobody wants to play natural selection anymore . By the past, midwifes helped natural selection discretly as their job wanted . " Sorry, he didn't breath ..."
But now we have a kind of unique child policy ... And so "we" keep everybody . Every child is unique gold diamond as we don't need simply more arms to work into farms .
Decreasing child mortality numbers are actually proving how civilized is a society .

Sorry to be hardcore, but this is true . True like Will Poulter is a very reliable proof of genetic depression .

They did that so if they get divorced the money still stayed within the family.
