First Indoor Grow 9 Strains

great diary mate..i really enjoyed reading it :)

when you said regarding dj short and scrog net: I think he meant that the string of a net should be tight, but also with smooth edges so it doesn't hurt when stretching..

anyway, you think 3 and 5-gallon pots makes a real difference in plant size? also, do you think it would be easier manageable under the net if you topped the plants?

cheers mate :)

Thank you for reading my journal

Thank you for reading my journal

Hello djibra! :smoke:

I'm humbled another person read this journal.

Sometimes you learn more from a loss than a win. :tiphat:
Hopefully you learned something at my expense!

Regarding the following:

when you said regarding dj short and scrog net: I think he meant that the string of a net should be tight, but also with smooth edges so it doesn't hurt when stretching..

I was just being an idiot.

I never read any of DJ Short's books...

I certainly don't think he said pink string helps triple the yield of a scrog. :bigeye:

If you are interested in his work, you should check him out on the pot cast.

I loved listening to his interview.

Link: https://soundcloud.com/user-928350579-16614181/episode-28-ft-dj-short-of-old-world-genetics

anyway, you think 3 and 5-gallon pots makes a real difference in plant size? also, do you think it would be easier manageable under the net if you topped the plants?

I think I made a huge mistake vegging for 50 days in 5 gallon pots.

Not that there's anything wrong with long veg times but the plants got too tall.

They got way too close to the lights causing huge issues.

I vegged for 50 days and had to flower them on 850 (425 per light) watts instead of (800 per light) 1600 watts total.

If I would have kept them short...

1. I could have kept them in three gallon pots.
2. Vegged for 3 weeks less
3. Flowered under 1600 watts.

Every situation is different...

Don't be an idiot like me...

Rule 1: get a lux meter before you start anything.

Those Gavita's are powerful.

To answer your question though:

No, I don't think the pot size makes that big of a difference.

A friend on IG showed his legal commercial garden.

Huge killer trees in 3 gallon pots.

His nugs were easily as frosty as mine...

Regarding the scrog...

I've never topped a plant and probably never will.

There's something about that main cola that just gets me excited!

I think the main issue with the scrog was:

1. It was too big. I couldn't walk around my garden. Huge issue!

2. It was setup too late. I couldn't lower the scrog because I put the plants in the 5 gallon containers which made them a foot taller. Didn't see that issue coming. FML.

I don't think my journal should be used as a blueprint for anyone else.

I think the only things you should take away from it are:

1. Genetics are important.
2. Link to soil recipe. (BlazeOneUp)
3. Lux Meter.
4. Clean Water.
5. Dragon Fly Earth Medicine fertilizer.
6. Cleanliness.

I put cleanliness last because it should have been 100x cleaner.

Wishing you the best. :dance013:

One last time...

One last time...

This will be the last grow for a long time...

Hopefully this one will be a little more enjoyable!

Starting with eleven strains this time:

Duke Diamond / Dominion Seed - Mom Gooey x Cinderella 99
Duke Diamond / Dominion Seed - Purple Dahlia

Gooeybreeder / Cannaexotics - Old Mexican x Mom Gooey
Gooeybreeder / Cannaexotics - Kona Sunset
Gooeybreeder / Cannaexotics - Midnight Snow x LED Gooey
Gooeybreeder / Cannaexotics - (Dark Desire x SO) x (DDxPGxPM)

Inhouse Genetics - Jelly Breath s1
Inhouse Genetics - Jelly Sickle (Jelly Breath x Purple Punch)
Inhouse Genetics - Jelly Sorbet (Jelly Breath x Dolato)
Inhouse Genetics - Platinum Scout v2 (Forum cut GSC x Platinum)

Thug Pug - Meatbreath (Meatloaf x Mendobreath)

Going to push out purple one more time...

I think people will be tired of looking at them after this round.

Got the Roadkill Skunk and Diesel from Duke.
Just don't feel safe using those stinkers this round...

I have a few ounces left to cleanup from last round and that's it!

I leave very little leaf on my buds.
It has to be covered in crystals...
Even then a lot of it gets cut off.

Anyhoo, below is the last of the jars and my current seedbank.

I will not be using the Ethos genetics seeds.
I can't stand that guy.

Saw one video of him at a Q&A session with DJ Short.
DJ would get asked a question and he would answer it...

Then he's like...
I bought a house using your genetics DJ - Thank you.
I was like... WTF

thanks for such detailed answer mate :) i really appreciate it

anyway ill try to reply as much as i can so both can understand me lol

yeah you should definitely flower under 1600 if you can but i understand why you had to go lower wattage..my friend has a similar setup as me but double the size so that means one 600w extra..and even on 4x4 footprint you can see the difference between mine and his plants and im in 3 gal hes in 5gal ..so next time try to keep em short like you said and rock em fine :) and i will have to try bigger pots just to feel the difference although i don't want to disagree with you when you say it doesn't have any difference..but i just have to prove it to my self personally :D

im planning to use a net next run but i also don't like the fact I can't get around my plants and touch and see all of them without breaking my back hahah

and now when you said what you think could have done better it makes sense and anyone who has read the whole diary can take something useful like me for example :)

all the luck mate :)

cheers

I've been tagging along (silently) in yours.

Your pics look amazing!

Sending good vibes your way! :tiphat:

Nothing wrong with disagreeing... :smoke out:

I'm just saying my buddy on IG didn't think it made a difference.

I hope 5 gallon pots triples your yield.
Stay safe my friend! :good:

Roar!!!!!

Roar!!!!!

First time seeing the plants yesterday...

Some are on Day 16 (from being put in soil).
Some are on Day 9.

Regardless, my partner has been taking care of them.

All I asked him to do was one simple thing...
Water the plants with the correct PH.
He succeeded.

I've purposely been staying away from them so he can learn some things on his own.

Hopefully there will be a point in time when he wants to do it by himself. :watchplant:

Plants look a little rough.
They need transplanted.
This will happen Thursday.

Back to 3 gallon pots we go!

I will be setting up the intake.
Mixing the soil and transplanting them and...
Roaring cause that's what the fuck I do. :shooty:

Anyone who has never grown before, be sure to watch.
You will see many mistakes in the next 60 days.

You will also learn how to produce some crystally ass buds!

Can't wait to do this one last time...
Enjoy the shit show... :lurk:

ROAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS - Starting plants under 425 watts isn't optimal. However, I was out of town for work and too busy biting on my wife's neck.

ROAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From Cups To 3 Gallons

From Cups To 3 Gallons

Mixed up 81 gallons of soil today.

Exact same recipe as last time except for one exception.

I could not get the Bcuz 3.8 cu ft mix.
So I got the Sunshine mix.

Both of them feel amazing in your hand.
Soft and smells amazing.

I'll veg the plants for nine days.
Then I will start the flowering cycle.

The cups are to the side of the plants for right now.
They are being used as labels.
I will take care of that next week.

I think we're down to nine strains as well.
Issues with Kona Sunset and Meat Breath again.
No blame on the breeders.

Until next time... :rtfo:

ROAR!!!!!!!!!!

This grow is dedicated to Gooeybreeder / Cannaexotics

This grow is dedicated to Gooeybreeder / Cannaexotics

A week has gone by since the last pictures...

Some of the taller plants got FIMed.

This was my first attempt at doing anything with the top of a plant.

The reason for this was simple.

Trying to keep an even canopy so the indica's can catch up in height.

If I get twelve heads from FIMing great.

If I get none at all and all I did was top the plant...

That's fine as well.

Most people top their plants anyway.

No expectations except for the plant to stop growing in height.

This grow is dedicated to gooeybreeder.

I was trying to get some of his genetics.
They sold out very quickly.
I sent his rep. Matt an email that day.

We got a deal done in less than 48 hours.

I can't go into specifics but I just don't see me supporting anyone besides Gooeybreeder, Duke Diamond and Bodhi in the future.

They've answered every question and helped in every way they could.

I might still buy a pack from Inhouse when they're 40% off but...
$300 a pack with very little customer service ?
Not for me.

On to the pictures. :tiphat:

Day 3 of flowering

Day 3 of flowering

The 27 plants are in day 3 of flowering.

They should stretch for the next 20 days or so.
I feel like we're prepared for the stretch this time.

They're staying in their 3 gallon pots as well.

The scrog has been completely changed.
A foot has been taking off each side.
Now I can walk around the entire grow room.

The scrog legs have been lowered significantly as well.
I'd estimate at least 10 inches have been taken off each leg.

We're really just trying to get as many quality buds as possible from both 4x4 scrogs.

The 5x5 just made things too hard for watering, cleaning up the bottoms, and everything else.

The right scrog is all feminized (Inhouse Genetics).
The left side is Gooeybreeder and Duke Diamond.

The reason for flowering them shorter is simple:

A. No light issues.
B. Being able to keep them in 3 gal pots.
C. Being able to lay out the plants correctly in the scrog.

What I mean by laying them out correctly is...

I will know which plants are male and female before I start tying them down in the scrog.

This means no prime space is being wasted by males.

Almost all males will show in the next 7 days.

So far I'm very happy with everything.
I think the water ph needs raised to 6.3
Besides that, smooth sailing...

Yes, the bottoms need cleaned up.
They will be when I know they're all female.

Both scrogs...

New Genetics

New Genetics

One last thing...

Got some new genetics I'm extremely proud of.

Only 50 packs were ever made of these Coastal Seeds: Big Sur Holy Weed.

Can't wait to run them in the future.

Also have some new Bodhi gear: Strange Brew, Silver Mountain, Chem D x SSDD, and Tigermelon2 x SSDD.

Strange Brew and Silver Mountain are some amazing sativa's.
Some killer work weed.
A nice change from everything else.

The collecting will have to be put on hold for the next four months.

Until next time... :moon:

5 Males Removed

5 Males Removed

The plants are healthy! :dance013:

The kick of nitrogen last week got them right back on track.

5 males were removed today.

The total plant count is 22.

The exact same amount of plants as last round (I think!).

My partner found a male Jelly sickle in the right scrog.

We trashed that fucker today.

Feminized does not necessarily mean all females.

Make sure you remember this when growing gorilla outdoor!

As far as the other males...

I know there were:

2 Purple Dahlia
1 Mom Gooey x Mexican
1 Mom Gooey x Cinderella 99 ?

1 Purple Dahlia male was purpling up like crazy...
Killed me seeing the pollen sacs.

Only female showing purple currently is Dark Desire.

Time will tell how everything plays out.

Got the lux meter out, making sure there's no bullshit issues this time.

The main key to growing good indoor cannabis is to...

ROAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like a fucking dinosaur.

Day 20 of flowering

Day 20 of flowering

We're seeing more stretching...

However, we should see this coming to an end in the next few days!

Some of the plants I FIM'ed...
Ending up creating like 8 heads.
Really stoked about that.

You can see this in the back right of the Inhouse scrog.

You can also see this in the back left of the Gooeybreeder / Duke scrog.

Crystals are starting to appear on some of the plants.

The bottoms have been cleaned up quite a bit on the right scrog.

This process will be completed next week.

I'll have a better idea of what will get light penetration and what won't in the near future.

The left scrog had some cleaning done as well.

They're just so tight and compact...
It's hard to see what will get light penetration and what won't.

Next week they will receive a serious cleanup.

The entire crop.

Day 44 - Part 2

Day 44 - Part 2

So the buds are still extremely small...

Hoping they all have at least three weeks to go.

I'm starting to wonder if the 3 gallon bags and 2 weeks less of veg will have an impact on yield ? :chin:

The left light is currently on 600 watts.

The right light is currently on 500 watts.

Have some fresh air blowing into the tent. :dance013:

Have air being pulled out as well.

I think things are going alright...

I feel like the buds are a lot more frosty at this point than the previous round.

Just can't figure these fucking lights out...

They got a boost of Dragon Fly Earth Medicine Fat Flowers a few days ago.

Hopefully this helps! :blowbubbles:

Going to put the water ph back down to 5.9

Time will tell how this plays out...

I made this second post mainly to show the difference in height of the plants in flower.

The picture on the left is day 33 of flower the first round.

The picture on the right is day 35 of this round.

Both pictures are from the right scrog from both grows.

These scrogs contained the more "stretchy" plants.

I think the reason my plants take so longer to flower is because they're not mature.

All of these are from seed not clones.

If these were clones taken from a mom, we would be a little further down the road.

I'm in no rush for these to finish, I want them to fatten up as much as possible.

All criticism welcome! :moon:

Great job buddy, keep up the good work! You've got some really interesting genetics there. I don't think I've ever heard of those seed companies, however... Gotta get back in the loop evidently 😊. Are they local to your area? The phenos all look like pheno-minal😀.
