Ummmm.... Hmmmm.... Good question! How are they s'posed to be used?

I reckon they must not be "necessary", as I am runn'n DWC without a clue as to what you're talk'n about! :biglaugh:

Hope that helps!

I believe they are talking about the rubber gromets for the hose fittings going into the buckets so they dont leak.

neoprene inserts are used in aerocloners to hold the cutting freely in the air/water mixture for rooting.

To answer your question as simply as possible, imo I would not use them in DWC at all, in aerocloners they are safe but after the plant develops roots it begins putting off gas’s that needs to escape or could lead to root-rot.

so they basically hold the plant gently over the mist
could they be used to go mediumless dwc
if not how would you hold the plants in bubble field in a dwc

and bzzbob anything i need to know like problems i might encouter or good hints to make thing easier before i set up my dwc

Fetanylking – I have seen people use them for MDWC but I still would not recommend it, just to many foreseeable problems that just imo, oh and btw just set your plants in some good old store bought lava rocks, wash very good before using!! Or hydrogen balls, that will give the roots something to hold on to.

for dwc you do not need neoprene inserts or collars to cover the net pot. As others have said moisture needs to transpire.

If you don't wanna buy the inserts because you find them to expensive, I suggest buying 'pool noodles' instead. I havn't done this, but it was suggested to me.

I haven't, but have to admit it sounds like a winner!!! Just slice off a hunk, slice it to the hole in the middle, slip in your clone, plop in the top of a DWC, and you're off with a mediumless grow!

Sounds cool!

I cut a small piece of air tube, 1/2". I then wrap it with some kind of foam. Doesn't really matter. I used the kind that you use to put around air conditioners to keep outside air out. Doesn't get any easier and some air and moisture can still escape through the foam.
