The union leader heading protests against France’s bitterly contested pension reforms has accused Emmanuel Macron of playing with fire and showing contempt for the country’s workers.

Philippe Martinez, head of the powerful CGT, said the president and his government were “disconnected” from the real world, and their advisers needed to “shake the hands of a few who actually work”.

I watch the yellow jackets and think to myself how the closest thing in America is a riot. Problem is those are usually all about looting. Nobody cars about losing the country to BS because the tee vee said to.

Free speech is the rule here, so if one is willing to talk about the big game of politic, then he is free to do so. As long as there is no hate speeches and all that kind of nasty things, it's ok. We're adults, supposedly we should be able to communicate in a civilized way, about every kind of subject.


Where I'm at, it's business as usual. Nothing 's going on, nothing to look at. The same old shit. Democracy is a fallacy, no matter where you are.

One thing you need to know about the French people is that they are not afraid to express themselves. Strikes happen fairly often shutting down large parts of the infrastructure. Yellow Jackets or people protesting Macron are just part of it. In many ways the French people are more free and less apathetic than Americans.

It would be a big surprise if the French people went along with anyone messing with the pension system. There would be huge riots. More likely, this was a threat pushing to find money somewhere else.
