I was told by a Mod at OG they don't log ip's. Even if they do I only got pics up there. The Po's can't raid your crib for that.

Who in Canada really thinks this is cause for taking down your grow? Do you really think the feds are going to go threw the 1000's apon 1000's of ip's to trace growers and start kicking doors off... Just can't see it.

Yes, Seymore Katz is right, the Mods should inform the OG'ers what if any info the LEO's have.
I'm very saddened by the news that OG and CW have been taken down! I've been trying to access them for the last few days and after the second day, I figured that the pigs had got to them. Sheeeesh...dont they have anything better to do than go after mellow stoners? But I do appreciate that there is IC mag to turn to. K+ to RC and everyone else involved with OG n CW. It was GREAT while it lasted. Peace and be safe to all stoners everwhere!

* Overgrow does not require you to verify your email address to register.
* The Overgrow servers are physically located in Canada, one of the most progressive countries for marijuana laws and freedom of speech.
Technically, the server must know your IP address in order to communicate with your computer. This information is stored only in the server's RAM for the time that you are actually on the site. Once you leave by logging out or timing out, that information is dumped from memory. It is never written to a hard drive. If you are still concerned about your internet safety, please see the GrowFAQ section on Computer Security.

I've removed any vBulletin vulnerabilities from 2.2.9, I've just chosen not to follow the upgrade path to 2.3.0 because the 2.2.9 is heavily modded. 2.3.0 was not a security release.
As stated in the FAQ, IPs are never recorded to any hard disk here, ever, they are only stored in memory for the time you are on the site. Only 2 admins with direct database access can possibly view them and only when you are online.

Simply snatching a load of IPs from offsite linking isn't going to do you a whole lot of good when >30,000 servers hit the site daily. I think most are concerned about being able to tie a specific post to a specific IP.

Don't forget, folks, if we don't take care of each other, no one else will. In these times of Fascist Mindset, we are strangers lost in an unholy land. I spent six years fighting this kind of shit in Central America, only to have our country slowly turn into a Fascist domain with designs on the rest of the "free" world [what a bunch of wankers our government officials are]. Man what the fuck is goin on here, i dont know about your neck of the woogs but in mine, LOS ANGELES, it seems like theres a cop around every corner waitin to fuck up your day or at least make it shitty one. Is our intrepid soup sandwich of a president trying to go out with a bang on "THE WAR AGAINST DRUGS". Ya know i really screwed up ky neck and i used to be able to get meds online, now i dont blame em theres a ton of junkies gettin there meds as well, but i have sheets of paperwork proving my injury, but if the junkies cant get why should i be thrown in with them, im sorry thats another story im afraid at what this guy has planned. Hes a fuckin total nutcase, in charge of the most powerfull country in the world(sorta) he has to have his minions or we would all be dead by now.

Well i found you guys yeasterday and the news is bad as I feared. I felt it in my bones all week but kept hearing the same thing on all of the message boards, "that the servers were being revamped". As time went on I knew that it had to be more, and only one week after the installation of a new govt to canada also fed my fears.
I just, dont know what to say or think right now. What a blow. and it hasnt even made the news yet as far as I have heard. When it DOES, what will change? This was just a matter of giving the feds an extra week to sort things through before alerting their soon-to-be victims?
I mean to what end do we go to to protect ourselves is what I want to know. From what I hear from friends, there isnt even any word of this in that locality in montreal.
I am feeling a bit fragile (No humour intended!) may stick around here a while to hear what you guys have to say but this isnt the same. Still though -
You know for a bunch of people on the internet who dont know each other, this is kind of as close to a family as you can get. Best wishes for RC.
