Aptus vs FloraSelf! Organic slow release pellets

Hi and welcome all!

I'm comparing 2 products:

attachment.php

Aptus All in One
http://aptus-holland.com/aptus-all-in-one/
2x100 gram sachets (each should be sufficient for 40L soil)

versus

FloraSelf Hochbeetdünger
http://www.hornbach.de/shop/Hochbee...ikel.html?sourceCat=S1955&WT.svl=artikel_text
ca. 500 gram

I got 2 similar beds:
*Drilled 8x 10mm holes in a 90L plastic tote
*Filled the bottom 2cm with used coco fibers for drainage
*Put in 50L of the cheapest soil around
And mulched it with the cheapest mulch available at 20L for each bed.

I went for low costs and I think the soil is pretty good after using it for house plants for a few months.

As for prices comparison, the Aptus sachets are 7.90 euro a sachet (you might be able to find it a bit cheaper) while the FloraSelf is much cheaper at 6.49 euro per 2 kg bucket.

I got the side by side in a 1.2 x 1.2 x 2.0 m grow tent on a drain table with a Philips Green Power 400W for now. (with an open reflector)
There's a 16" fan and a 5" vent with a thermostat.
I would probably add another 600W in flowering.

Here's a visualisation of the amounts:

And this is the end result:

Strain is Golden Diesel (by Yekke Seeds)

Yields before curing:
FloraSelf - 216 gram
Aptus - 178 gram

Wish me luck ;-)

Temps are low, about 23 at lights on and 13 at lights off. I'll put another tent to work nearby at alternating hours for some heating.

Temps are still cold. Going to get to it soon.

Gave each of the girls 8 water of pure water today. (nothing until now since transplanting. I could have skipped this one for a couple more days for sure)

Interesting...:lurk:
:-D

I was out of the country for the weekend and the plants got a bit light burnt. Nothing major for sure.

I flipped the switch and today is the first day of flowering - 16/12/14

So far they look 100% the same. Might be because of all the nutrients in the soil, it is quite heavily fertilized.

Very interested to see how this works out for you.

Good Luck

Thank you very much :)

Tagged up for this side by side

I switched the light to a 600W and will add proper heating tomorrow.
Temps have been at 12-23°C and the RH was VERY high at around 70% at lights on and 90 at lights off. That is due to the lack in ventilation in the cold lights off period. Tomorrow it will be fixed when the heating is turned on.

Science in the making =)

12°C sounds shitty... But since they both suffered these temperatures, it's still a valid comparison. The plants you transplanted were all clones from the same mother, right?

Heating added, now it should be fine.
They were clones from the same mother at the same size.

Hi :tiphat:
I got them too but I haven't tried them yet.
Please let me know what you think of them!
Nice side by side. Subbed. Just water only right?
I added predatory nematodes (for fungus gnats) with the watering last time and I alternate between rain and tap water for some supplementary magnesium.
