Ok, it's been a couple years, and I did keep trying both, and for rock wool cubes I have found that just the powder works the best. The gel helped seal the cut, but with a clean cut and a scrape, they throw roots like crazy. I have given up on both in favor of a diy aerocloner. I converted my old mini flood and drain system and as long as I clean it right it hits at least 90%
