How much is the good doctor charging?

I just wanna throw this out there and maybe folks can add factual quotes from the doctors or medical outfits they have tried to deal with or have successfully dealt with.
No links pleas I think that might break TOU ? or I could be wrong on that I dunno.

so, I was sent a link to a physician that will hear medical marijuana patients and assist with getting legal. 175.00 east coast Canada.
I won't post the name as it was a private communication.

then off facebook, I was sent a link to 420 Consulting , based out of Ontario but I talked to a gal in Victoria BC. 299.00 plus tax and the doctor will see you over Skype. If successful, you will be granted a 1 year prescription and they have the forms for the LP's or for personal growing that they send you.

I'm waiting to hear from another friend who grows under the old system as well. The doctor who wrote up his orginal paperwork was tied to UBC and charged him nothing.

I'm gonna keep on finding these places and calling them about their fees and gonna share here. Interested to hear what others are experiencing.

This cash cow extortion must end. Doctors hiding behind stuff like their insurance policies and the college of physicians and surgeons as an excuse to use to justify charging people for access to medicine need to be routed out and exposed.

its all a giant scam. I'm waiting for the class action civil rights lawsuit .. to protect the legal right of individuals to produce...

from the webs..:

Equality rights

Equality rights are at the core of the Charter. They are intended to ensure that everyone is treated with the same respect, dignity and consideration (i.e. without discrimination), regardless of personal characteristics such as race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age, or mental or physical disability, sexual orientation, marital status or citizenship.

The Charter also protects the basic human rights to life, liberty and physical and psychological safety (or “security of the person”).

how can they let giant outfits make a living while denying "Joe Blow cottage grower" ? ....

equal access to the markets is a must ..

My family doctor retired in 2010 and left me high and dry.

I've been on this joke of a waiting list called Health Connect where they are supposedly trying to find you a
doctor in the mean time. When I got approved my medical cannabis this July the doctor there even laughed
when I told him that I was on Health Connect.

Well today, I got a call from Health Connect and they may actually hook me up with a doctor. :)

If all else fails, I guess I'll have to cough up $175. LOLZ

I'm a nurse TT...I work in palliative care and specialize in pain management...

So I'm lucky and get to chat with docs often...

Every doctor I talk to says it's a joke...that the forms are very similar to disability forms...and if you know your patient you can actually fill them out in 10 minutes...

GPs use these forms like ANYOTHER silly cost to patients at their offices...tray fees..sick notes...travel shots...it's an extra way to make money..they don't receive pensions...

it's pretty lame...there also seems to be some anger towards the government from docs in making them responsible for deciding on who is appropriate for legal cannabis..as most feel it's benefits are truly negligible...and should not be up to them

I've seen some charge 350$ for 15 mins of their time..filling forms...

And now...we have LP representatives visiting our units essentially buying the docs allegiance if and when they do prescribe...

Good luck buddy

the quotes o was given weren't for getting your grow license, it's for the doctor to hear your case and for him to write your prescription.

so I get it, doctors make XXXX an hour and because health Canada won't pay when they bill for the time it takes to see a medical marijuana patient, despite the current "laws".
where as if you have an impacted molar and need a root canal, it's a simple trip to the doctor, get a script for antibiotics and toridol or T3 , head to the pharmacy and pay for the pills. All you pay for is the pills and your monthly medical premiums and if yer on welfare or low income.... it's all free.

so really the problem isn't the doctors and I suppose we shouldn't beat up on the doctors that will step up and do this stuff, charging us the fee that they can't bill for. I suppose I get it but it is outrageous that I've heard of prices from free up to 500.00

so it's the college of physicians and surgeons (licensing and insurance) and health Canada, for not accepting doctors billing for time spent interviewing/diagnosing and treating patients with cannabis instead of the pills and poisons they are licensed and insured to supply.

it's kinda stupid and twisted and makes me wonder how so many very smart people , according to the education merits on their walls, could get this all so convoluted and screwed up LOL

palliative care eh? That's a tough job in many ways, my hats off to you. My wife works in palliative care as well , she's a care aid.

My specialist, 4 physiotherapists, a massage therapist and my former family doctor were all made aware of and totally accepted my use of cannabis, over 18 years ago when I experienced my work place injuries and my long recovery after. My doctor and specialized have retired however and are unreacheable. I have blood allergies to the carriers in many pharmaceuticals that folks consume every day like smarties for the pain events I endure. I just use cannabis and the occasional Tylenol regular if I have a nagging headache that a meal or a few glasses of water won't cure hehehe

I think for me I can just send the paperwork I have with the renewal for the new acmpr but I have several friends up here that don't bother with getting internet and use my satellite connection as an excuse to stop in for coffee and a visit. Which I don't mind at all :D So I'm kind of the hub for info for a few folks needing to find the right doctor.

thank god they ended "party lines" I remember those from surprisingly not that long ago LOL
when I first moved out here from the big city it was some adjusting .... no cable TV , no high speed land based internet. TV and internet is satellite only out here and while most folks have television of course, folks from the city would be surprised at how many people in the BC interior, can't be bothered with internet because of the near double cost of the satellite service. Telus keeps sending out there Optic tv and internet flyers anyways, mailbox is always jammed with them... shaw, telus LOL it's just a tease tho , they have been promising us a fiberoptic network out here for going on 5 years now LOL
not complaining, I wouldn't trade where I live for too many places on this rock :D

the doctor has to charge something, they charge to write a sick note, it takes their time etc just like an appointment, they shouldn't be charging an excessive amount but their time is valuable and they are filling out a form different than a regular prescription, plus if they are hearing your case it takes time out of their day and is more like a private health care compared to family doctor. To me it seems reasonable for 100-150 considering, people's family doctors should be doing it for them if you have one rather than doing it this way and charge the same as sick note depending on how long it takes to fill out the paper work. Health Canada needs to streamline this process so that the doctor can just write a regular prescription and no charge, I don't blame the doctors I blame health Canada for not helping medical rights of patients and they need to be the ones sorting it out.

I guess the debate is whether it's right that a doctor charges for facilitating access to marijuana as medicine.... but not the plethora of other drugs out there. I get the charging extra for photocopying, writing letters/notes, faxes ect ect , but most anything a doctor charges me extra for, I get reimbursed by either my extended health coverage or at years end on my tax forms. Not so with mary jane. It's not really the doctors fault, it's the bodies that govern their behavior and the bodies that govern their insurance policies. that is where the real problem lies.
anyhow, it's an endless discussion that one. hehehe

so my friend is gonna get the ball rolling for her license, will keep ya'all posted.

My doctor charges me nothing. It's like any other appointment. They can all be reimbursed by the government (well, technically me - long term) for them. So if you find a doctor normally who is helpful that is your best bet. That can be difficult though. I can't really recommend my doctor as he is retiring and moving this month.

I would just like to say the LP's are definitely visiting GP's and pushing the LP only route....almost swear there was a kickback involved or something....

I know one GP in particular who changed his tune after a visit and a bunch of pamplets were dropped off....

I was charged $147 back in February of last year for a doctor to fill my form out. I went to an LP for a few weeks. Got into a verbal altercation with one of their staff members of the terrible quality of their product, and was no longer served by this company (Tweed. Fuck them! I'll out them for who they really are!) I ended up with MariCann. They had terrible product for extremely expensive prices.
Instead of dealing with that, I built a grow box and started learning how to grow my own. So far it's been working out pretty well! ;)
