nirvana - jock horror - 2009

that's it in a nutshell
there are many a tale of the jock horror of years gone by
but what will be had? only time will tell
1st thing, i had sprouted some back 9 years ago
they were a bitch to sprout, 3 seeds to get 1 plant
and the germination was slow, 7+ days, only 1 made it - a male
so i finally picked up these seeds again, figuring a week easy to see any action
this time, just a bit longer than 24 hrs, go figure
all this is an excuse for the stretched seedling. had to use the window sill until grow chamber was empty

we still have a pack and a half from the early 2000's- our 1st grow consisted of a bunch of nirvana seeds, as they were cheap, and just starting out - we grew white widow, rhino, ice, and 1-2 others i dont remember ... and jock...

all the weed was good.... but to this day this one pheno of jock was ass-kickin... the best weed (by far) we have ever grown... and we have spent thousands of $$$$ on seeds .. unfort we were old and stupid and didnt take any cuttings .. despite growing out at least 2 other packs, never found this pheno again- as said above still have seeds from years ago... but don't have the time /space to pheno hunt... maybe one day

not so good

not so good

well, it shames me to post a sad seedling
but i believe the situation is salvageable, small containers have not worked well for me in the past
my organic type soils do much better in 2 gallon pots
which is my plan, pasteurizing the dirt right now
we'll see how it works out

I grew it around 2006. I kick myself for not taking a cut. The plant was a monster. Top cola the size of a 2 liter soda bottle. The whole plant was covered in trichomes. They all turned cloudy about the same time and it looked like it had been dipped in sand. It was a bell ringer for sure. The trim made wicked hash. I'd love to get my hands on that one again, it would stand up to anything going around today. And it was only like $20 a pack.

recovery

close call, root rot at the center it was, or at least too wet with the little cup
but has recovered, we'll see what the next curve ball will be

As I recall, the standout pheno I had was a pale green. It had huge leaves, like the old Colombian we grew in the 70's. It had long inter-node spacing. Big stretch when flipped 12/12. Christmas tree shaped, huge top cola. The tops of the side branches made fat spear shaped buds, maybe 6 inches long, not much bud along the branches, just small buds at the nodes.

That's about all I remember. Pics were lost when the computer they were on shit the bed. Won't forget the buzz though. The shit actually made me paranoid like the old school shit I grew up with.

appreciate the deep recall, high paranoia is not my ideal choice
so will let it mature until 'safe'

being a micro grow, flower is going early
3 feet of head room max, and the genetics do have a haze in there
looks good going in

12/12 - 8 days

interesting
now i know this line has its fair share of wide leaf
1st pistils showed at 5 days, squat and flowering quick
so where's the haze?
i know - you have to be a bit philosophical about these things
going to be a very modest weight, look forward to reveg if it's worth another round

day 15 - 12/12

well, this is an experience
it's the most vigorous speed into flower i've yet seen
sucking the nutes out of the fan leaves like a vacuum cleaner
yes i'm feeding, thing is simply voracious
and stretching is hitting high gear, smell when rubbed is real nice

day 22 - 12/12

a slightly better picture emerging, hopefully
it goes through its fan leaves kind of interestingly
nutrients sucked fast and hard, then fans practically jump off
it is strongly bushing out at the base, on the whole doing alright
but quite a difference from my usual

well, it's not my best plant ever
my veg time was too short, need to adjust to led lights
they're so damn good, cfl habits tough to break
it's growing ok, still has the quirk of a more vigorous lower half

week 7

well, what can you do?
not every seed gives you a cup winner
gonna be a 7 gram plant imo
some sativa traits in there, intriguing but not tempting enough for reveg
still, might be trip weed, you never know
