That's good information I will try to file away cause I really, really like the purple plants. Might be more to look into on that regard.

I don't see a whole lot of adverse effects from the way you defoliate. It might be interesting considering how they must be a lot better neighbors, meaning you might be able to grow more plants in the same area without them shading each other out.
