I think the forum admin has to enable it? It's been a while, I googled and found this.

How to Get There

  1. Go to your admincp (/admincp/) and login.
  2. Look for "Custom BB Code" on the left menu. Its near the bottom.
  3. Expand it and click "Add New BBCode".
Superscript
Title: Superscript
Tag: sup
Replacement: <sup>{param}</sup>
Example: 2[sup]2[sup]2[/sup][/sup]
Description: Makes text superscripted, such as with mathematical exponents.
Use Option: No
Remove Tag if Empty: Yes
Disable BB Code within this BB Code: No
Disable Smilies within this BB Code: No
Disable Word Wrap within this BB Code: No

Subscript
Title: Subscript
Tag: sub
Replacement: <sub>{param}</sub>
Example: 2[sub]2[sub]2[/sub][/sub]
Description: Makes text subscripted.
Use Option: No
Remove Tag if Empty: Yes

The forum admin, probably Skip or somebody like that, would have to take those steps to enable Super and Subscript. I believe they are bbcode addons. I haven't used vbulletin in like 12 years so I had to google that. Once it is enabled, in the Go Advanced menu the buttons will show up.

I don't think it is enabled in vbulletin by default, have to wait for an admin to take pity on us poor plebes who just want to write E=mC2 correctly. :biggrin:
