A Reflection on "Obama and weed"

I started a thread here a while ago titled Obama and weed. It was quite popular.
So I was right, he was elected, I did vote for him, he was a better choice than mccain I'm sure we can all agree.

I am very unimpressed with what he has said about weed so far. Just that its "not how to stimulate the economy" doesnt really act like hes going to "change" anything He appointed a drug czar thats less strict on weed, and says he leaves it to states to decide on medical marijuana. But he really hasnt done jack about it yet. Yes he does have more important problems (2 wars, economy, etc)
But I really expected more. He seems like he'll be a good president but as far as weed, were probably looking at at least 8-16 more years of the same shit we've had to deal with.

Im chiming in before the lock comes in.

How has obama bennefitted anyone? He bailed out major car manufactures and banks.
The "war on terra :( " is still going on.

California dispensaries are still being raided by the DEA.

I dont see any changes other than negative ones.

George Bush is looking like a decent president lately.

Dirt - When have you as a pot smoker ever had it so good? Ill answer for you! Never thats when. Stop acting like pot is the only thing on the planet the man has to deal with or even like it is in the top 20! You cant be that naive or stupid to beleive you had it better or would be getting a more honest and deligent reply to the weed question than he as given from say the Repubs.

Not even gonna touch the rest of the rants comin down.

Ok now you can close it!!!

Thanks Obama. And to whoever said he has bigger things to deal with...I'm sure you'll be singing a different tune when you are locked up with violent criminals for growing a plant. I'd say that's a pretty big injustice. Absolutely enough to warrant a presidential response. This country is supposed to be about exactly the thing we are fighting for: freedom...and not just for those who are "too big to fail." :joint:

These raids deal with state law and have nothing to do with Obama. They were not federal raids.

It's fine that you hate Obama, but please stop making shit up and posting it as fact.

Read them. I don't hate anyone, but if federal agents are involved (which they were) then it's his responsibilty. Making up shit? What are you, blind?

A Bakersfield medical marijuana dispensary was raided Wednesday afternoon by Kern County sheriff's deputies and DEA agents.

A DEA raid on three Westside medical marijuana dispensaries has generated outrage from supporters, some of whom had expressed hope that the federal government would halt such actions once Barack Obama took office.

Federal agents had arrested a Riverside medical marijuana dispensary operator after raiding his shop.

There's much more, should I continue?

Read the articles, they're all about disputes of state law. California has it's own DEA agents.

I'm still waiting for any proof that these raid are at Obama's directive. Most of the investigations in your links began before Obama even took office.

They don't have to be at his directive. He still has the authority to stop them.

I seen all of my valid points deleted.

Nice to see a political axe being ground before your very eyes.

I got positive reps on post that were deleted.

were any of your "valid" points about Cannabis legislation or laws?

if not, then don't bring them here. That isn't what this forum has ever been about. Hate on whoever you want to hate on, but if it isn't about Cannabis laws and legislation find the right forum.

seems simple enough to understand, and I doubt has anything to do with a political axe to grind, just peoples inability to read the rules.

Incitive opinions based on no facts are going to be deleted.

Every once and a while we let one of these go for a while and it always turns into the same thing.

I do have something to add though. I read recently that there is a record number of dispensories in Cali now. I wonder why that is?

Mods can edit what they choose to but the reality is Obama has no intention of helping MJ users. He will likely though ask for your vote and dangle another carrot almost four years from now.

Obama has lied about most of the things he was supposed to do. Don't expect anything from him hes just another self serving polotician.

All this gloom. Harmless offenders are still being arrested and that needs to be changed. Obama could be a sell out - too early to tell really though. He's done more good in his first months for MJ reform than Bush or McCain would have.

I mean, would you guys really have preferred the latter choice? Instead of a handful of dispensaries being raided, there would be a more wide scale attempt to continue this war on drugs.

I checked some of those dates on the articles, were any of them after Holder (or whoever) announced that there WOULDN'T be raids on medical dispensaries in COMPLIANCE with state law?

Also, just thought of something. Obama is also a father isn't he? I remember
when I was young, my father appeared more strict and concerned about matters
involving drugs and sex - stuff I was too young to be getting into. (although I personally dont think MJ is a drug drug)
I mean, I'm not sure how old the Obama daughters are, but the only sure fire way
for Obama to have to deal with this realistically is for his daughters to be found experimenting, as most of us have-
in any related activity. No one wants their child to go to jail for something so harmless.
I think its hard to maintain an image with so much spotlight, maybe he's just trying to look
like a good dad. But, whether its family or close friends, one way or another he will see
and be forced to sympathize with the innocent victims of this war on the citizens.
Surely one of Obama's daughters will have that one friend or boyfriend whose obsessed
with blazing up in the white house.
