Oldtimer's Haze

High all!

Oldtimer's Haze is finally available after 2 years of hard work with CBG breeders. We'd love the line will be preserved in its original form in many places as possible.

Here's the official description:

Genetics: 100% sativa. Hybrid of different tropical sativas: Mexican, Purple Highland Colombian, Southern Indian (Kerala) and Thai.

The Haze was developed in California in the 1960s and 70s by crossing some of the best tropical sativas which had been imported during that period. Its exact genotype remains unknown, but it is probably a hybrid of different sativas from Mexico, Southern India, Colombia and Thailand, the two latter being the most dominant in the final hybrid.

This mythical sativa, which has been the starting point for the development of the best hybrids of the past decades, was about to disappear during the 1980s due to the introduction of skunks and indicas in the breeding scene.

Our Haze population comes from the last reproductions made with this variety in California, and it has been preserved intact until today by Oldtimer, a British breeder, and then reproduced by our breeders using a wide diversity of parental plants.

Oldtimer’s Haze still preserves the genetic diversity that many present Haze lines have already lost, and it is possible to find phenotypes ranging from the mythic and nearly extinct “Purple Haze” to the most popular “Green Haze” phenotype, and of course intermediate combinations as well.

By flowering the Hazes at low temperatures, the garden fills with beautiful autumn colours that vary from light green to red, blue and purple.

The flowers gather forming willowy bunches that achieve good volume, when grown under optimum conditions.

Oldtimer’s Haze has an incalculable value for every preservationist, collector and breeder that is looking for a Haze’s population that still conserves all quality and genetic diversity of the original hybrid.

Oldtimer’s Haze is a delight for 70s sativas lovers, a trip back into the past for all those who could not enjoy it at that time.

Structure: Slim and elegant plants, with a tall, branched structure. Medium-length internodes. At the time of growing, the leaf is very thin and shows a pale colour. It reacts very well to pruning.

Bouquet: Dark, fruity aroma, with earthy touches of ashes, incense and antique wood aroma.

Green Haze’s aroma is fruitier (like tropical ripe fruit), while Purple Hazes smell like blackberry and black liquor.

Effect: Strong stimulating and mental effect, without heaviness or physical weakening. A high level of THC and low level of CBD together produce a no-limit effect, which allows you to get higher and higher with each intake. It can produce anxiety and paranoia in high doses and/or to persons prone to these conditions.

Flowering: it takes between 16 and 24 weeks, depending on the plant’s size and the flowering conditions. Outdoors it ends between the end of December and January.

Production/m2: Medium-low.

Growing type

Indoors: we only recommend it to extreme sativas lovers and breeding projects.

Outdoors: Only in tropical or subtropical climates. Within latitudes between 20º and 35º, we would recommend a warm, coastal climate and the use of a greenhouse.

Cool, some old school genes make a resurrection. Are these related to HHFs Haze?

Hi Brithish E.

Well maybe is not a question for us, being polite. We made our honest and dedicated job.

Just for once only I will copy and paste some words from Oldtimer (hope he excuses me for using his words)

<<...To me strains of plants are a bit like land, So I’ll use the analogy of MPOV on land. You can hold land, you can work it, your family can hold it in its control for many generations but you never really own it. So I feel while you have the land in your care, that is what you should do, care for it! So future generation can have the pleasure of it in the future. If you are a good person you will leave it in better condition than you found it in.

I passed these genetics on years ago, when they were originally made there were no seed banks. Now they are in the hands of the Spanish brothers, its there turn to care for them....>>>

Hi dubi,

Thanks for posting pics of this cool project.

If memory serves, Haze was originally developed outdoors in the Santa Cruz, California area. The latitude of Santa Cruz is 36.974N (just looked it up  ), so it might be possible for these these worthies to finish a bit farther north than you suggested.

Best of luck with this effort. :D

Hi kanebosem,

We are distributing different haze lines from different female and males. The initial idea is distribute each line correctly labeled. Growers/breeders have the chance to access to a wide (and differentiated) genetic diversity.

Haze it's a very inbred line and has lost lot of vigour. We have combined parental plants from each pheno (green and purple) in most of the lines to guarantee genetic diversity (presence of all original expressions) and vigour in the next generation.

We are stocking Seedbay with the follow haze lines:

Purple Haze female 13 x Green Haze male 6
Purple Haze female 12 x Green Haze male 6
Purple Haze female 3 x Green Haze male 6
Purple Haze female 23 x Green Haze male 6
Purple Haze female 26 x Green Haze male 6

We are going to offer different haze lines in the future with new males and females. Will post very soon descriptions of the parental plants used in each line

All the best for your next grows! Ive been very impressed with your past harvests! :yoinks:

Hello bopper! It's great to see you around!

I'm sure a good gardener can finish correctly a haze a little farther north than 35º, especially if you force her 12/12 photoperiod in July/August and then let her flower naturaly in the 2nd-3rd week of september with outdoor photoperiod. Then Haze will finish in first 2 weeks of November, forming and maturing her flowers between September-November, and still flowering under decent temp and sun conditions.

Anyway, a greenhouse is the best option for all the non tropical outdoor growers. Haze resists quite nice cold temps and mold, but she shows all her potential when flowered for 4-5 mounths under warm uniform tropical conditions.

I think hazes were developed and matured correctly under greenhouses in Santa Cruz. Indeed, we have tested and reproduced Oldtimer's Haze at 37N in a warm coastal mediterranean climate, with very similar conditions.

Coastal climates provide constant humid ambient and moderate temps. Haze is a tropical plant and it could be a little bit harder to grow her in a continental climate with higher temp variations and drier ambient.

Thanks for the good vibes!

Hey Dubi!!

Glad to read the notice here... :woohoo:

It is interesting to know that a phenotip finishes in 2-3 week of November.

In my latitude it is going to be very difficult to cultivate these beasts. Because the intensity of the sun is not well at october-november... :badday:

Congratulations for the made well work! :yoinks:

Jah man!! :joint:

Hi Youngones, as expressed several times for Dubi as well, you can always force their flowering beginning indoors and then bring them outdoors in august so they can finish naturally with better climate. Take in account their size increases a lot during flowering and they are resistant to harder different conditions.
