QWET -Best Recomended Ethanol ?

axle2u

Member
hello there gents,

ive read a few different times now, that an ethanol extraction
(with pure bud)...will deliver better flavours, and better quality smoking oil, then say the ISO alchohol 99% that ive been experimenting with...

so to you more experienced, id like to ask...
1)- what kind of ethanol do you suggest
2)- what purity do I want
3)-what brand name do you suggest
4)-where and/or what store do I purchase from (Canadian Pls)

thanking you in advance for your insight

I don't know about Canadian laws or brands or anything, but ethanol is ethanol. As long as there are no flavorings added, you'll be fine with any brand. But you do want as high of a proof as possible. Here in the States that's 95%. Some states only allow a max of 75%, though, and that 25% of water pulls in a lot of crap. If you can't get the pure stuff, stick with the 99% iso.

thank you for the response,
there is so many to choose from, if I want a grain alcohol like everclear...or a jug from rona or Canadian tire....which is intended for a flame burning unit...(not sure if that is safe to make a smoke out of tho)...I don't know...

and from what I can see, is more expensive then ISO 99%
but I have heard (read) it makes good flavour
and im all about the flavor...yup I want good flavor....lol

thanks

Don't use the stuff they sell at Canadian Tire for fire starting.

aka. BioFlame Ethanol

Bio-FlameTM fuel is made using a high grade of denatured ethanol.

https://www.recochem.com/ca/products/fireplace_cooking_fuels/bio_flamesuptm_sup_ethanol_fuel

It has Denatonium in it to make it taste real bad so people don't drink it. It will end up in you extract.

Yeah sorry I should have specified to only use food grade ethanol, like the kind you buy in liquor stores. Not the kind meant to degrease engines or anything like that.

If you have no other choice. Maybe just buy 40% vodka and distill. :tiphat:

now that's interesting....

would a 40% vodka work as an ethanol ?
and what if I utilized a flavoured spirit,

is it possible to get that flavor into the extract
by this means....? curious

if one could flavor their extract, well that just be too much
ahaha....moonshiners....love that show,
them boys know their shit....up in them thare hills.....lol

Vodka has 40% ethanol in it. Use only the unflavored kind if you do distill.

If you need a flavor. Add it after you make your extract.
