I need some help. I've seen this before but don't know what it is or how to treat. The black ink looking dots do rub off, kind of greasy. The rest of garden looks great.

Looks like thrips and spider mite damage. You can buy a cheap scope for you phone cam that lets you get a closer look. My guess is the spider mite damage is the worst of it. To treat I'd use either Pure Crop per directions or Azamax at 30ml per gallon. Either way you'll need to develop an IPM system to keep control of the mites.

Get some cold pressed neem and mix with one drop of dish-soap and warm water and shake well. Spray the leaves on both sides and you should be ok. Do again in 3 days to make sure you get the newly hatched eggs. Spray every 3 days for 12 days and the pests will be gone.

Thrips + mites

Thrips + mites

You are all so right. I found my scope and found these buggers. I'm not sure what the little plump pink guy is, can someone confirm.

Okay, well the up close shots helped a ton! That looks like a young aphid in the first picture and in the second picture what looks wet I think is honeydew which is what aphids secrete. Hard to be sure without more pictures.

I am sure that Mites + Thrips was correct and if you have aphids as well then there is a silver lining. Azamax will kill them all. I'd get on a regular schedule with Azamax until the you've got the upperhand again then switch to Pure Crop 1 after a few weeks with the Azamax. You're not in flower yet it looks like so you should be able to get control by the time bud sets in. Throw up some more pictures and I'll try to confirm for you.

I am using Big Time Exterminator for soft body pests. In the past I have had excellent results using this product. Funny, I never hear it suggested for pest management.
