Can the Calcium oxide be added into the extraction and filtered out prior to distillation to remove water to less that 5% ?

If you use calcium oxide to dry the ethanol make sure you let it react for at least 24 hours in a
sealed container. After I imagine you could filter off the calcium hydroxide before the distillation.
But do know that the longer it takes to filter the more the pure alcohol will grab water from the
atmosphere. It may just be better to siphon the alcohol while not disturbing the bottom layer.
