Apparently Teddy thinks Australia's future should be decided by recently imported immigrants and refugees, what about us Aussies ? don't we get a say in our own country anymore

Its exactly what the UN and the socialist want, all around the world, replace the population and get them to vote for the destruction of sovereignty

My ideas are not original. Watching ABC's "News Breakfast" I see there is a new Australian publication (did not absorb it's Title) about the effectiveness of a government that is not representative.

Now all retired . So largest part of the Oz population all going to retirement homes .

Who the fck is gonna look after all those old folks ?

Largest % of population don`t pay income tax .

Who is gonna generate the gov revenue to take care of the oldies ?

Keating said it 30 years ago we need to forget about the USA and UK and embrace Asia .

Migration will help fund a lot of retirees .

Is being a Jew a race or religion.... Interesting question... The answer is two fold. The hebrew jew that is read about in the bible is actually a specific kind of human....They are genetically close to the arabs.....Hence the reason they say the jews and arabs are cousins....Within the jewish community there is an argument over the real jew and the fake jew..... Some take the issue seriously, while for others it's a joke....The supposed fake jew is someone who has taken up judaism as a religion but is not genetically jewish... Hey Mick, Colonialism has made this nation one of the best on the Earth to live in at the current day....Considering we fucked it in 5 minutes, I'd say you are taking alot for granted....Check out Bear Grylls The Island on youtube....Paradise without much in the way of technology, isn't so great for the modern person...

Here's a story that surprised me to hear:

I went to an Eclipse Festival with one of my sons. There were only a few people around my age. When someone older was spotted the introduction was ... what are you doing here?!

So these other older people talked and we found out somethings about each other ... and I told them about a young guy I 'd met who did not know where his relations were because the Nazis had done such a thorough job of destroying the records of the village his ancestors had come from.

There's the “idea” of Australia and then there's the actual landmass. Example, If a yob wrapped in a flag of Australia with a can of VB in his hand expresses his love for Australia, he's probably talking about a way different Australia than someone who loves the mountains, the reefs, the deserts, etc, and there's all the people in between.
Australia has the fourth-highest level of animal species extinction in the world.
Travel through marginal country, which is most of Oz, and you'll see cattle and sheep destroying the fragile Eco-systems, farmers plowing fields in the hope of rain, the wind blowing away the precious topsoil that took millions of years to make, some of it staining red the mountain tops of New Zealand.
Our Great Barrier Reef is dying.
Most of our trees have been cut down and we're still doing it. Our rivers and water ways are polluted and poisoned, blah, blah.
“IF it moves shoot it, if it doesn't, cut it down” was a popular saying in my dad's time and it hasn't changed much imo.
If you're into bright lights, big cities and technology, then Australia is a great place.
I personally would of loved to have been born and lived here before the colonialists arrived. Wow, what Australia must have looked like then.
Then there'e the cane toads, foxes, cats, rabbits and the thousands of other introduced pests, and I'd include tourists in the pest category. . But we do have vast areas of urban deserts.

Are you near Melbourne ?

Unless you convince some rich Australian to pay for the fire-fighting, it's going to be paid for by "passing the cup", i.e. taxes, what some would call socialism.

Australia has the same un-answered question as the US -

how would they fuel their fire-fighting activities, if liquid fuels were un-available ?

Admittedly a "20 years in the future" kind of question.

Hey Tang, I live in a little bubble of paradise in the mountains of Sth East Oz, which I try to never leave, except to travel to the desert for a month or 2 when winter starts to mess with my head. Unfortunately we've been discovered by the tourists, but as long as they fuck off home on Sunday it's all good.
I've been to the West a couple of times but not down South, and I hear good things about Esperance, Margaret River and the beaches down there. One day. Broome was awesome.

I'm up in the mountains of the Sth East. It's been looking a bit grim but we had a little rain a couple of days ago that seems to have settled things down a bit, fingers crossed.

I was joking about the socialism. Not sure if I'd call myself a socialist but I've definitely got issues with capitalism, although the Nordic model seems to work well. I wonder why that is. Maybe genetic? Latest research seems to suggest that the Celts originated in the Middle East. I'll link to it for anyone else interested in this stuff.

The nordic model works because they are small homogeneous countries. They also have vast natural resources like dreaded oil. The corporate tax are lower than the U.S. I don't know what the corporate tax is in Australia. Low corporate tax rates fuel economic growth. These nations have huge income tax and value added taxes. Most people in the middle class are paying 50 plus % income tax.

Why do you guys refer to Australia as Oz?

Is it a wizard of oz reference? I hate that movie

We are "one", all part of a living, intelligent being, the universe. I think of myself as an appendage of life, like a thumb to a body. Experiencing that connection, even for a second, is mind blowing.
I can't see anything particularly left or right about that vid, it's just science mate.

So by that logic any country with "vast resources" could adopt a more social democratic model. Seems to be what many more people want these days. Pay higher taxes but get a lot more back. Not sure if the purpose of life is happiness, but if it is, these countries are way ahead. Of course many people seem to think our purpose is to suffer, so what do ya do?
The first 3 letters of Australia are "Aus", which sounds the same as Oz.

I certainly appreciate that you may not have liked the movie. Personally I intensely dislike Ms Garland's voice. Sounds to me like she's got something stuck in there.

Anyway a lot of us who dig the bush, the beach, the deserts, the unique creatures, think Aus is a magic place! So it follows to call it Oz.
