the revered Salk Institute (yes, THAT Salk) reveals research showing that cannabis is, indeed, a viable option for treatment/prevention of Alzheimers disease just as others have speculated/postulated prior to now. the govt can ignore anecdotal evidence coming from pro-cannabis sources, but will they have the political will to ignore research from the folks that rid the world of the dreaded polio virus? this is getting more interesting by the day...:woohoo: "no accepted medical usage" my ass! :tiphat:

Was reading a recent article about how cannabinoids help to remove the plaque that surrounds neurons in Alzheimer's patients brains.

Just posted this in another thread.

"This new found property makes cannabinoids useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of a wide range of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases."

From the abstract of US Patent No 6,630,507 granted October 7, 2003. That was quite some time ago.

The most interesting take from the actual research paper the article is based upon, is that the cannabinoid therapy should start early and be continuous. The underlying causes of alzheimers disease effects are gradual and cumulative and the neuroprotective basis of the cannabinoids is not a complete treatment or a cure.

So smoke it early and smoke it often, that's science.
