Deficiency issues

It’s my 2nd run in coco and I’ve been having problems with deficiencies. Not 100% sure what the issue is so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Growing in coco/perlite(buffed the coco prior to using hopefully I did it correctly) using fox farm nutes and calmag. 1500W maxsisun LED.
Temps/RH around 75-82 / 55%-60%. Been feeding 700-800 ppm, 6.0-6.1pH.

(Currently in veg)

I’m thinking it’s a calcium issue or pH. Any thoughts?

It's almost always Ph if you're using modern nutrients as you are. I don't grow in Coco but it's still a hydroponic medium so 6.1 is the top end. I Ph to 5.8. Should probably check Ph of your runoff and see what it's like. The Coco guys can probably chime in and help more.

I feed 6.0 pH in coco. Check the ppm/ec of your runoff and make sure it's within 300ppm of what you're feeding. If not dilute you feed to half concentration and flush continually until you reach something close to whatever your input is. Also make sure achieve 10% runoff when you feed regularly.

I ran a high dose of pH’d calmag water (400ppms pH 6.3) through and got runoffs of 5.8 pH and 1300ppms.

I noticed I was having this issue when I pH’d my feed at 6.0-6.1. Could it possibly be the plant not accepting calmag due to the pH levels I’ve been giving her or the high ppms in the medium?

Should I also lower or raise the pH from 6.0-6.1?

If you're feeding at 400ppm in and getting 1300ppm runoff you need to flush till you get rid of some buildup. Personally I would Ph to 5.7-5.8 for a while.

Fox Farms nutes are not made for Coco.

As stated flush with Quarter strength nutrients you are going to have to run about 4 gallons threw it. double check ph meter.

Whatever you do don't use plain wwter to get tds down . 1300 is not that extreme the f.f no being coco juice might screw ya up a bit

Keep flushing until you are below a 300ppm differential between your input and you output. If you're feeding 400ppm your runoff should be below 700ppm.

Is it recommended to flush with pH’d calmag water or just plain pH’d water?

I flush with dilute feed water. I believe the reason you don't want to use plain water (especially RO water) is that you can pull nutrients out of the plants root system.

I would recommend using a fertilizer that's made for coco coir and your problems will go away.

I ran some microbes with a high dose of calmag (25 ml) through and she flourished.

I also ran pH’d calmag water (6.3, 55ppms) the other day and she’s loving life now. Trying to focus on getting the ppms In the medium lower before I send her into flower.

Would you say fox farm nutes are not ideal for coco mediums?

Whatever level you choose to feed at consistency is very important. Just pick a level of PPMs and keep your feed withing 50 PPM of variance between batches. I'm feeding a General Hydro modified Lucas formula. Post some more pics!
