By Far THE BEST Rooting Gel, Dip, Powder I Have Ever Used!!

ACTUALLY.....

Most products sold are .01, .001, .0001 % IBA. Green Lite was .10, by far was the strongest out...

Looks like Miracle Grow is the same strength...

Not at all, you got some bad information somewhere. .1%, .3% and .8% are the common strengths for IBA products in horticultural circles, and .1% is intended for the leafiest, thin-stemmed plants (which generally is appropriate for cannabis) and completely common. Here's a couple of the stronger concentrations, available on Amazon:

https://amzn.com/B005EJ82HA
https://amzn.com/B005EJ87KC
https://amzn.com/B017DT4AY2
https://amzn.com/B00A2YJ2V2

..and some non-Amazon sources, if folks want to avoid the big boys:

http://www.great-pruning-products.com/roothormone.html
http://phytotronics.com/product/rhizopan-aa-12-3-dry-powder-rooting-hormones
https://hydroponics.com/shop/stim-root-powder-1-2-3-rooting-hormone/

If there are brands selling rooting hormone with less than .1% IBA that's a pretty good indication of an overall brand to avoid, since the stuff isn't exactly gold, and diluting the IBA to 1/10th or 1/100th strength isn't helping anybody.

..and to anybody thinking that 'more is better', do NOT buy .8% IBA to clone your cannabis plants, it's probably just as likely to turn the stems into mush. All rooting hormones mess are messing with the plant's natural growth cycle and that early root growth doesn't come without a cost...the increased energy to rooting can cause a decrease in energy sent to leaves and stems, which isn't always necessarily a bad thing, but increasing the percentage of IBA is only going to throw things off further, and the .3 and .8 stuff isn't meant for leafy plants like cannabis, though the .3% stuff might be worth trying with plants that are especially hard to root.

It seems like rooting hormones is one of the (many?) products that cannabis-specific growers are being slightly scammed over....the higher concentrations are really hard to find and expensive if you stick to canna sources, but shift your vision just slightly over into the more generalized horticultural world/sites and the shit is everywhere and relatively inexpensive. You can find the common/cheap .1% IBA brands like Green Light or Miracle Grow in some of your local hardware stores, but go to a hydro store and they'd rather sell you Clonex for $50, and act like it's some kind of secret.

does this stuff have a shelf life? I feel like the powder shouldnt go bad. Does the hormone expire as quickly as it does in liquid products?

I remember using it for a few runs and after a bit, I started getting almost all dead clones. Maybe I was doing something else wrong, but I ditched the stuff because I blamed it for putting a halt to my cloning success.

thats a good question. when mine sits under the sink (which is dry & clean area) i feel its not as effective over time. i've never gotten all dead clones. my success rate is usually good. on my last bottle of powder i tossed it after 6 mths to grab what im using now.

Its best to keep rooting hormone in the fridge but any cool dry place would do.
i keep the root-tech gel in the fridge. id give that stuff away. not my favorite. really like the powder. not as concentrated as the gel but the old school powder i just love using it for years now. very reliable. great results.

These powders last years and years in the cabinet dry. It develops a smell when it's going bad. Don't expose it to moisture in any form and it will be fine.

This is the brand I've been using the last few years, but only because that's what the store sold when I ran out of whatever brand I forget now. And I'll be using AOK's like the OP for the first time soon - always used perlite/vermiculite or Jiffy's before.

Old school indeed, cloning was perfected with Rootone F or whatever IBA powder in pre-Green Merchant days. HT readers from back then should be pretty good at cloning. I don't remember these ever being really weak, but whichever powder that was sold next to the fertilizers in the garden section since the 80's are 100% successful with the right technique.

Then there's these gels and whatever since the 90's and it's like what for? And these fancy newfangled cloning contraptions is that all necessary?

I cant help but wonder how long it's been on the shelf, outside, in the garden dep. Then add how ever long I had it. How can it not expire? ya know.

But it's cheap enough that maybe it's ok to toss it after a few months? I dont like being wasteful... but honestly, I've had to toss out half bottles of some liquid rooter due to expiring, so wha's the difference really.

used MANY different powders, gels and whatever to root clones...

have had many aero cloners.....

then i found out about a $5 rooting powder from Home Depot called Rooting Hormone....

it has a PGR in it called indole-3-butyric acid. that is used in some rooting gels and dips, that ARE NOT allowed to be sold in grow stores...

i get roots in 4-5 days and when i mean roots, not 1 or two coming out of the cube, i mean 8-12 roots shooting out!! its really a thing to see! its impressive!!!

several people have told me since i started using it, that my clones are the best they have EVER got from anyone....

if your turned off by PGR's for rooting, im sorry, but dont preach it here please...

may you have better root success and happy harvests!!

So I found a small container of clone powder at wally world for $1 and it was inside, in the air conditioning. High hopes for this stuff.

My old man got pissed when i did a side by side with this cheap powder against his $30 a bottle hormex #8 powder. I had roots a good 4-5 days before the expensive shit. He didn't like it when I showed him how he was wasting his money, lol.

No surprise since Clonex is nothing more than an mild NPK solution. Not a drop of cloning Hormones in it. At least the Walmart stuff has 0.10% Indole-3...
Buyer beware, a cloning solution is not a cloning solution if theirs no cloning solution in it :tiphat:
