Those of us from down under lucky enough to have discovered icmag will have encountered this same problem.

Unfortunately many of the products we see here are unavailable in our country, or in our region of our country.

I thought we could start a thread and accumulate our region-specific sources of useful products and tools.

Please add to the thread as you want. Please feel free to answer questions and share.

Those grow bags are available at most rural buying places like Landmark and some independant nurseries, sorry I cant point you to a particular mailorder outlet, bunnings stocks them occasionally but charges a fortune, and I have also seen them in Mitre 10 in some more rural towns.
I have found almost anything can be bought via a rural buying service, from the chemical supply companies or via Hydroponic shops (who will order most things for you on request).......there are multitudes of uses for all the chemicals we require and you can always say your growing another vegetable or herb crop, making your own nutrient formula etc etc. I mix my salicylic acid in 99% alcohol first to help it dissolve for example, and buy that, 85% phosphoric acid and other things direct from a chemical supply house. They don't seem to care what you want it for unless your ordering chemicals that can be used for other illegal purposes. Landmark has Gibberellic acid, furalaxyl etc etc locations are on their website if you call first they will tell you what they have. Hope this helps a bit.....let your fingers do the walking.

Only thing I cant find is a decent tent.

JWP: I have found an online store that sells heaps of stuff not always in the mainstream stores. If you contact him directly he will do a far better price than his online store PM me for his details. BTW he is in oz and freight charges are good and packaging very stealth.

Great thread :)

i'm after this type pipes.. looked in bunnings so far no luck, my old mate also says hes never seen it before

heath-robinson-albums-heath-picture29855-7.jpg

note the rubber o rings inside.. so its all push together and can be taken down easily etc..

its a type of underground pipe, this type was in the UK

Have you tried a plumbing supply co. Tech? I know those are some huges pipes but you never know they may be able to order them in for you or something. Good thing about piping that big is the neighbors probably wouldn't think anything about it as opposed to them seeing you with a shitload of pots and thin black tubing...

This thread is just what us Aussies need. I'm pretty pedantic and have found it difficult to source the exact items I need on a regular basis.
That being said, with the Aussie dollar being comparitively high against the foreign currencies, you can find some good deals overseas. And our currency more than offsets the shipping costs atm.

For meters, this guy is excellent. http://stores.ebay.com/affordableinstruments786 and I just bought both the HM digital PH/temp and EC/TDS meter's for less than half of what they cost in Aus. Shipping was around 12 bucks for both meters. Best meter on the market imo.

For general hydro supplies: http://www.bghydro.com/ these guys ship to Aus. (alot of the bigger hydro stores in the US/Canada don't ship here!) They're excellent to deal with and prices are as low as I've seen on the net.

I recently just bought 30 x 3 gallon "root pruning" style pots from: http://www.rootmaker.com
20 bucks shipping and the pots were 5 bucks a piece. But well worth it as the quality is very high and they can be washed and reused. I got the http://www.rootmaker.com/products_roottrapper2.php#jump and am looking forward to using them in the QLD heat.

In Australia, for all of my organic needs, I use: http://www.nutri-tech.com.au/sustainable-agriculture.html

This guy: http://www.urbangardenershop.com.au stocks ASP kelp meal and the Healthy Earth organic range. Their Volcanic Rock dust is a winner, as is their GP fertilizer.

I use Sure Grow gullies when I run NFT systems: http://www.advanceprofiletech.com.au/

The climate controller I use can be found here: http://www.autogrow.com/1_autoclimate/autoclimate.html as good as the Sentinel controller imo.

I run Mitsubishi Heavy Industries air con units. And this particular model: http://www.mhiaa.com.au/products/srk/SRK71ZEAS1.aspx cools a 20' x 12' room with ease. Very energy efficient.

Good reflectors are hard to find here. Ablite being the only air-cooled, I know of in Aus. Aside from those cool tubes which are useless as far as I'm concerned.
We need Cool Sun's here stat. I would purchase 30 immediately. =)

I use Solarmax T5 reflectors for cloning: http://www.guppysaquariumproducts.com.au/florescent-light-fittings-and-accessories/t5-florescent-light-fittings-solarmax/t5-aquarium-light-4x54w-h/o-1200-long-individual-reflectors/prod_644.html
and Solarmax T5 6500k daylight bulbs.

Teco chillers are about the best we can buy here in Aus. and although they're designed for aquariums, last quite a long time. The entire range can be purchased from: http://www.thereefshop.com.au/

I would really like to know where something like: http://www.watercooledgardens.com/product.php?productid=16285&cat=266&page=1 can be purchased here. Amazing units!

That's all I have for now. I'll add links as I recall them. Thanks to the thread starter and all the contributors thus far.

'ave a good one.

wow nice list there Galt. Thanks puffinfresh and oldman, I am going smaller pots not big, like grow bags, now.

I really want to pull the 1.5-3gms per watt I'll achieve with Dr.Bud style growing, so I'm using 2L milk bottles until I can find something like treepots - http://www.stuewe.com/pdfs/treepots-minitreepots.pdf

I really would like to get TPOT1. 4" square, 14" deep, 2.8litres volume and I can fit 66 of them under my 600W hps.

Checking out the rootmaker.com options as we speak.

If anyone uses something similar to Stuewe's Treepots but can get them here please post info.

Thanks...

G'day Daemos!

I've never ordered a bulb from them, but I have ordered other items and the shipping was pretty reasonable and fast.
I didn't realise they stocked the Ushio bulbs. I've been wanting to try them however. I've heard good things in Europe by growers using them. I'm gonna send them an email and ask if they can get the 600 and 1000 Super HPS's in, and whether they'll ship these to Aus.

I'll let you know.

Cheers
