Mashable & HIGH TIMES Announce “Weed in America” Collaboration

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mashable, the leading media company for the digital generation, and HIGH TIMES, the world’s leading cannabis media and information business, are announcing today a new collaboration to share and create content on the impact of cannabis in politics and the growing efforts to legalize marijuana in America.

The two publications will produce and share editorial content on both of their platforms under the rubric “Weed in America,” and will promote the stories across their social media platforms. “Weed in America” will feature original news pieces, features, video content, long-form journalism and analysis.

In addition to its primary focus on legalization and politics, “Weed in America” will also feature lifestyle and business pieces about the cannabis industry.

“Marijuana is either legal or decriminalized in more states in the U.S. than in those where it is still prohibited,” said Jim Roberts, Executive Editor and Chief Content Officer of Mashable. “And in the 2016 elections, legalization or medical marijuana measures are expected to be on the ballots in Florida, Maine, Michigan and other states.”

“No matter what you call it —weed, reefer, pot or marijuana —cannabis has been and will continue to be an important area of coverage for Mashable, and we are proud to team up with such an authority on the subject as HIGH TIMES,” Roberts said.

“With this new partnership, we are furthering HIGH TIMES’ goal to provide high-quality educational information and articles to cannabis consumers, enthusiasts and everyone on the issues that affect them, especially during this important 2016 election season,” said Larry Linietsky, Chief Operating Officer of HIGH TIMES. “Combining HIGH TIMES’ cannabis subject-matter expertise with Mashable’s vast millennial audience and best-in-the-business social media tools allows both Mashable and HIGH TIMES to benefit from shared resources and reach a highly engaged, influential demographic of voters.”

HIGH TIMES has hired Kristen Gwynne as its political editor. She has written extensively about the marijuana industry, politics and drug policy for The Guardian U.S., VICE and Rolling Stone. Gwynne will oversee production on HIGH TIMES news articles included in the project, and will reinforce the company’s commitment to providing valuable information on the politics of the cannabis industry.
