They'll dry out and come out of it if there in a good size container pretty soon. I'm not to great with slow release fertilizer but used some in my holes 12-5-7 or 12 -7-5 I'm not sure. Man I nearly broke my ankle and fell and snapped one of my prized plants completely into. This growing shit isn't as easy as people want to think. If growing weed was so easy everybody would be growing the way I look at it. Plus I'm sure the humidity is probably crazy were your at? Is there anyway to tell if the helicopter threw something out?? They'll usually toss out something unless there waiting for it to get bigger maybe?? There should be shit blew everywhere if they got down very low, I guess you can't tell if anything moved? You legal guys should thank whoever you pray to at nite, the paranornia is crazy for illegal guys. This supposed to be the greatest nation but states 4hrs away are illegal while 4hrs and across state line your legally growing???? There's some things that's been needing addressed on cannabis for 20yrs, I'd gladly move to Michigan in the wife and kids would go lol. Can we at least be allowed 2 rec plants per adult 21 per resistance each indoor and outdoor?? I wish one of these southern states would be the leader in legalization, because the others will follow soon, at least I fell soon.

You're probably right, it's most likely fast release. I tried not to get too carried away with applying it. The only time I've had Nitrogen deficiency in the past was during flowering. If these clouds would pass the sunshine could get through already!

You're totally spot on about growing not being easy. It didn't take very long into my growing career to figure out how labor intensive and physically demanding it really is, not for the faint of heart. :Bolt: Growing (as some people believe) doesn't give you free weed... You pay for it in time, supplies, labor, and taking a risk. Not to mention there's no guarantee it will all pay off in the end. And yes, the humidity here is insane. Mosquitoes are rampant and I can only hope for stem rot not to be a problem.

I have no idea if the chopper was over my grow or not and probably won't have an idea until I make it back out again. I didn't see it myself but heard reports from around town. From what I heard it was a bit close for comfort. Still not sure if it was LEO related or not, sure sounds like it though. I always keep my face covered when entering and leaving the plot and spend as little time there as possible.

I feel you on the legality bullshit, I'm a 3 hour drive from a green state. I started school late but plan to be done in the next few years, so if it's not legal here by then I'm seriously planning on relocating. Cannabis has improved my life so much and allowed me to get the rest I need to function normally. It's completely nuts that I have to risk everything just to get the medicine that helps me be a more productive member of society.

Growing indoors would be really nice too. Total control over what happens in the environment and I could get growing down to a tee. No more playing weed ninja while feeling like some sort of Vietnam commando behind enemy lines treading through water, swamp, and woodlands in the middle of the night. It will certainly make for some great stories about the wild west days of prohibition though!

Stopped out at the plot last night and was pleased to find that the plants were there, not dead or had become pig food, and doing well! :dance013:

First off, I had a run in with a pair of skunks... The animal not the strain fellow potheads! :joint: I was taking a different route back on my mountain bike than I normally do and while in route I heard a chirping sound to the right of me (I didn't know they made that noise.) I looked and caught a quick glimpse of 2 skunks, whom I assumed were happily married and in search of fine dining.

Their tails were all fluffed up and one must have taken a pot shot at me and missed, as I had caught a wiff of that familiar and somewhat pleasing smell while passing them up. Luckily I escaped without taking a hit.

It's nice to see the plants catching up finally! 3 weeks until they should go into flower. Should be enough time for them bulk up a bit... :watchplant: Each were given 3/4 a gallon of pH adjusted water but their soil was fairly moist already. Could have easily gone at least 4 or 5 more days without watering. Also staked up the plants. They're around 2 feet tall now.
These are my favorites so far, definitely more on the LVPK side of things...

The first 3 seem to show a bit of Deep Chunk influence, with the runt really being on the DC side. This would explain why it seems to be behind the others in growth. Leaf hoppers seem to be attacking the plants at the moment. Going to have to break out the Captain Jacks.

The last picture is of a Northern lights seeding I added to the plot. It's in a 5 gallon bucket with fresh Happy Frog soil. I found a couple of NL seeds I had forgotten about and got one to pop. Figured I would toss it out there and see what it can do.

Sorry for the bad pictures... The mosquitoes were insane out there and bug spray didn't seem to phase them. I cant stand it when they're trying to bite my eyes and ears like they were and I couldn't get a steady shot. Once had an eye swell shut while night fishing with a friend cause of a mosquito bite. Somehow drove home on winding country roads with only one eye open. Good times.

Put the plant in the first picture in the ground is my recommendation, pots restrict growth, not to mention the surrounding foliage is very lush and green, this will also help with the nitrogen issues(over or underfeeding either or) as you can decide how much (of the amendments) such as guano (hard to find), Dr. Earths fert.s (easy to find),vermiculite, earthworms or their castings, you put into the ground.
once the plants get big enough and start attracting pests they also attract natural predators of those pests such as praying mantis and spiders and lizards and more that I probably have not seen yet.(lady bugs if they stay?) they would if you had mites lol
PS I still use pots to this moment but plan to do away with them.

I've always grown in containers at this site because of the poor quality of the native soil and the area is actually a buffer zone for flooding. The native soil is all clay-like mud with no drainage whatsoever.

This year I thought I'd experiment and put 2 plants in the ground. The holes were 2 feet wide and 15 inches deep with amended soil from last year. Both drowned.

I totally agree that they can get bigger in the ground, but not when they're underwater. This method has produced some big girls for me in the past, last year's tallest was an 11 foot Northern lights that produced over half a pound for me. The Orange Groves weren't as tall but were comparable in yield.

On the pests and predators, I also agree. I found a praying mantis ootheca (egg case) attached to a blade of grass near my plants last year and also saw a daddy long legs clenching onto a slug at the base of one of the girls. Gotta love free pest control!

Made a trip out tonight to spray the plants down with Captain Jacks (Spinosad.) Should hold the leafhoppers back for a while. It's a good organic insecticide that isn't too toxic. I've used it to treat a variety of garden pests on other plants. It even kills spider mites!

Plants have grown out well! Looks like the sun came out! They're going to yield just fine I think!

Spinosad is not an OMRI organic approved pesticide. The plants aren't eaten up very bad. I would just leave them. Its not an invasive level. Thats my opinion using an integrated pest management strategy using pest surveying to determine if the threshold is passed where a pesticide should be used.

I usually only give them one or two treatments when I first plant them in spring since they're vulnerable to pests when they're so little. Usually they'd be a lot bigger this time of year when the leaf hoppers show up and I wouldn't be concerned at all. Obviously, I'm running a bit late this year and don't want anything to slow them down further so I gave them a light misting to get the leaf hoppers to back off. When I stopped back out I could see the bugs were chewing up the lower leaves more so than before. I don't plan on spraying them again, and I NEVER spray while they are in flower.

On a side note I have had a huge problem with pests in my vegetable garden at home. Leaf miners, leaf hopper nymphs, and aphids were crazy this season. I'm losing all of my tomatoes and peppers this year to spotted wilt and black spot!

Dropped by the plot in the evening to check up on them. Everyone was given 3/4 a gallon of pH adjusted water. NL seedling in the last picture... Going to be one small plant.

A shot of the whole plot in the first picture followed by 2 more Orange Grove hash plants. Last two are of a leaf hopper which had been chewing up some of the leaves and a white plant hopper that landed on my fishing pole (these don't seem to bother the plants.)

Nitrogen deficiency. This is the first time I've ever had an issue with it in veg. It's definitely slowing them down too, shouldn't be this short. I added plenty of fertilizer and this strain is not a heavy feeder, at least in veg. It must be a soil problem... Going to have to check the pH. I'm guessing it's on the acidic side.

The runt plant and a good example of leaf hopper damage.

After a rough start they're really starting to look good, as far as the leaf hoppers maybe google natural leaf hopper deterant or something & maybe you can find herbs/spices/oils etc in your kitchen that will help keep them away including other potential pest.

Thanks man! I just realized I planted these about a week later than last year, yet they are at least half the size that they were last season around this time. Less than 2 weeks til flower. They do stretch in flower just not as much say Northern lights. I really like this strain, it has some knock-down power and smells/tastes great!

Not too worried about the leaf hoppers. Once the resin starts flowing the bugs stop messing with them.

I have some pretty wicked tooth pain going on at the moment from some dental issues and a serious injury that happened to my jaw a while back. Needless to say, the insomnia is really acting up as well. Don't smoke often but what the hell, I have a grinder full of kief from Orange Grove, Northern lights, and a local strain I grew which I got from the Amish around here who plant out in the corn fields.

I must say that I am a man who loves his amber trichs! Now time to enjoy a kief joint! :) :joint:

Finally had time to drop by the plot tonight. Was kind of busy last week and was in the hospital. Feeling better now though! :)

Plants seem to be doing better... I raised the pH of the water and gave them a feeding of Jack's Classic Blossom Booster.

A few of the plants are starting to put off that awesome orange/citrus smell. Rubbed the stalks and could not stop smelling my fingers! Good stuff. Also, they're starting to flower... 2 confirmed male (which I pulled) and 1 female. The rest still haven't shown their sex.

The first photo is of one of the 2 big plants and it was a male. Sucked pulling it out, I can't be the only one who feels a bit bummed by having to pull such a beautiful plant. Fingers crossed the other big one is a female.

Sorry for the blurry pics, the mosquitoes out there are nuts. Even when covered in bug spray they try to get my eyes.
