A ghost story

I run several rooms with plants in different stages.

There is an upcoming harvest and flowering cycle.
I will try to report a little about the way I do things.

I just topped the soil with the good stuff. One bean made it through :dance013:

I see that you know what you are doing. Looks excellent! Highgrade. :)

Care to share what your soil mix is? And if you need to reammend during a cycle?
I switched from synthetic in coco to growing full organic 3yrs ago. I'm just an organic rookie.

Thx for the compliment.

I could do a detailed report on my soil and amendments.

It is a no-till 7 gallon pot though, nothing special. I don't really amend it. It's mostly cover crop, mulch and soil life. I do very mild foliar sprays from time to time (home made) but nothing special.

I call it "the laziest way to get the best product"

Drying environment:

20°C (68°F)
45% - 55% RH

Carbon filter + 4 fans (indirect air circulation)

I track this in a precise 24h log to make sure the peaks are not to high or low.

This was the last update:

I added some cover crop:

  • yellow mustard
  • crimson clover
  • rye grass
  • wheat grain
  • Calendula
  • Tagetes
  • Watercress
  • Chives
  • Bear's garlic
  • and some other edible flowers

Preparing the soil for the next run

Add some homemade compost.

Add some wood flakes

Mix the top soil (4 - 5 cm / 2 inch deep)

Add some hay

I'll keep it like this for a few days and then water in some mycorrhiza.

I just prepared some new soil.

Here's an album with all the ingredients:
https://www.icmag.com/ic/album.php?albumid=79639

For rock dust, clay/mineral soil and epsom salts I used different varieties (labeled as "var 1" or "var 2")

50l coco peat
3l clay pebbles
2.5l lava rock
2l worm castings
900ml biochar (not active)
900ml insect frass
900ml wood flakes
900ml cactus soil (var 2)
900ml alfalfa meal
900ml rice hulls
600ml neem meal
600ml kelp meal
600ml rock dust / azomite (a-z)
600ml rock dust / pebbles (a-z)
600ml clay cactus soil (var 1 / more clay)
600ml oyster shells
600ml malted barley
600ml grow-kashi
500ml nettle juice
300ml fish meal
300ml clam meal
200ml molasses
150ml seaweed chalk
100ml egg shells
100ml coral sand
75ml mycorrhiza
50ml epsom salt (var 1)
30g epsom salt (var 2)
15g bacteria / trichoderma

I always wear a mask, use gloves and food grade bins.

Pre mixed

I mix this step by step in a bucket (turn and shake)

This is perfectly mixed

The final result (after approx. 30 minutes of mixing)

The last step is to dampen and let this sit in the dark for 4 - 8 weeks.
When this is ready I mix it 50/50 with homemade compost and let it sit for another 1 - 2 weeks.
