Ace grow status and new sip

It’s been a long road but my grow is on track. I just finished revision 2 of my tent. I’m hoping these are serious improvements that will help increase plant health and overall yield.

I’m running an all Ace grow, 2 of 3 orient express popped and are doing well, 3 of 3 bubba kush x kali China popped and going quite well and three Malawi crosses I made last grow. I had a wonderful standard father with fast flowering short squatty mother. I popped three of those beans and have them alongside the rest.

I came up with a sip rigup that I can’t think why it won’t work. Also potted these in fabric grow bags. Placed them on top a 7 quart plastic container filled with lava rocks. All this in a 30 gallon tote filled with water to below the bottom of the fabric bag. Also drilled many holes in the plastic containers so the water would enter freely.

I’ve now had one Malawi and a female orient express in this setup for a week. So far so good but the soil was wet when I put it in. A few photos.

My sip and ace grow are doing great. Flipped to 12/12 yesterday and am waiting for the fun to begin. One thing my humidity is up way high. I suspect due to the large red tote. It’s also not real simple to add water to the tote in the very back. Other than this though things are great. I left for a week and came back to a thriving crop! A couple of jpegs...

Hi blondie,

Thanks for starting a new thread and for choosing ACE genetics for your new indoor cycle, much appreciated :tiphat:

They are looking healthy and happy. Glad to see them already in flowering. Best wishes!

Things are getting interesting in the tent. One bubba kush x kali China was touching the top of the light. The thing took off like crazy. This new setup has worked a bit too well. Starting to see some white hairs. The one Malawi f2 I put in the sip turned out to be female. It’s in great shape. I’m looking forward to a properly grown Malawi. The one strange thing is the leaves are More indica than sativa. Both my oe plants are great. The one has very sativa leaves. I hope the stretch is over...

Sounds like this grow will bring some nice variety to your stash!

How old is your Malawi with the wide leaves? I have one growing outdoors now that started as a seedling with wide leaves, and kept them until I transplanted her outside at two months old. After a month outdoors, her leaves are now nearly as narrow as the Golden Tiger next door.

I wonder if yours might also get narrower as the plant ages?

My Malawi is about 2 half months. I have issues watering properly and as a result growth was slowwwwww until this new setup. So here are a few more jpegs of the Malawi. It’s coming along nicely. Not sure if leaves will get thinner.. I’m hoping the fast flowering from the mother continues though. That bubba kush x kali China is going apeshit still ! I’ve lifted my light as high as possible. It’s few inches from the glass. Malawi images.... what you think?

Hi blondie,

In order to evaluate better the health of your plants, kindly take some pics without HPS light and get back to us.

Hi dubi. Sadly I am not healthy enough to lift those plants now. I cannot remove from my tent, away from the hps light. They are extremely healthy, except one. They have stretched more than any plants I’ve grown before and are all now touching the bottom of the lamp. I guess this is what they are supposed to grow like and this new sip has greatly improved my grow. I’ve tied them down some and got them off the lamp a little.

A few images with the hps. Best I can do for now. The one with the cola into the lamp is my Malawi f2. It was several inches below the lamp Friday and grew like crazy. The one with the cola grown out of the lamp is an OE.

Things are looking good, but your tops might suffer from being tooo close to the light in the nearby future. Is it 600w hps or 400w? I'd still try to tie em down alot more, like 90 degrees. Or even snap from the stem and bend em, they are still in so early flowering they will recover and steam forward.

In my own setups when I put too many Ace in genetics in a small space, the result is similar to yours. Ace genes have amazing grow power and if you put too many/ veg too long this is what happens. I'm thinking about buyin a bigger tent..and after that more light. Or then you just need to veg a lot less and use smaller containers. Also cutting and tying plants are great practices, that should be used from early veg period to avoid excessive stretch.

But your plants are still looking great, enjoy the ride B)

Thanks rl. Y I’m definitely learning on this grow. Flower earlier.. much earlier with ace Gens. This is 600 watt. I am fearing you are right, my colas will suffer. I’m going to do more tying tonight.

Yes, I’m enjoying the Ace ride... good stuff.

These are week four images. Sorry about the hps but this is it for now. Things are looking great in the canopy. I tied down more colas but still have some closer to the light than I would like.

First image below OE on the left and my Malawi cola and some smaller buds on the right. Second is two OE’s, third is my other malawi cola from same plant, last is a group shot.

Everything is coming along. I’m just sitting back and waiting. No feeding.. I’m Seeing how my current soil mix and current nutes do. Looks good so far. If so this is easy to reproduce and tweak some.

I agree with rismooth, nice plants but hell close to the heat, wich temp do you have? usually when gene of wild sativa is in the mix I use a small window of one week for seeds and didn't at all with clones. in veg time you don't notice a lot stretch but switching to flower can be 3 to 5 times bigger or even more.

Your summer indoor grow is looking good blondie :)

I would follow rlsmooth and akirabull tips and don't let the tops to be so close of the lamps. Check the temps of the tops with the light on are not over 28ºC.
Best wishes for the rest of the flowering!

Today is day 56 of flower. I think one of my OE is done. The other is close. I removed my hps bulb and put in my mh bulb for some photos. I would appreciate comments on if anything is done or close or ??

Temps at the canopy is 91F. Down low by the soil temps are 84.

First jpeg is bubba kush x kali China. Note the purplish leaves. I think molybdenum issue but my ph is 7 so what gives? I think this plant is very close but maybe another week. Thoughts?

Next jpeg is my Malawi f2. I think it can use at least a week, maybe more. ??

Next is orient express, sativa leaning pheno. Looks close, a bit more time?

Next another bubba kush x kali China. Not quite I think.

Last is another OE, indica leaning pheno. I think I want to pull this one. ??

Hi blondie,

The purpling on the Bubba Kush x Kali China comes from the genetics, mainly from KC side, the one in your first pic is a Kali China pheno. ... Both BK x KC look ready.
The Malawi too. The Orient Express sativa pheno needed 1-2 weeks more since the pics were taken.

Wish you enjoy with your harvest! :)
