CLEVES, Ohio (CBS Local) — An entire school district in Ohio was shut down for two days this week after nearly 600 students called in sick, the district’s superintendent said.
All classes and after school activities at Three Rivers Local School District in Cleves were cancelled for Thursday, Jan. 30 and Friday, Jan. 31. because of a major flu outbreak.
Superintendent Craig Hockenberry said out of nearly 2,400 people who attend or work at three schools on campus, about 600 students and as many as 50 staff members are out sick.

A Chinese Journalist who tells about his six days in Wuhan. It is interesting to watch. You can activate english subs.
He tells in the hospitals about 70% of the people get oxygen and they have no test kits anymore. And many Chinese are 'sealed' in their apartments. It seems apartment blocks get sealed with all the residents inside. They can't go to the hospitals. Even if they are not sealed in their apartment, they don't know how to get there, because there are no public transports and no taxis.The city is huge.

Horse is out of the barn with this one I think. In US we have good medical and such, but still, the flu goes around every year and I think this is on par with the common flu. They could have shut down any traffic between China and US at the first knowledge of the virus, but that would cost money from lost trade and whatnot.
Money is first you see. Now the money is going away anyhow, and with it a few lives? Got out of stocks because of this before the selloff last friday. That and the chart that looks like Jan of 2018.

This Chinese guy says he is a native of Wuhan and no Wuhan resident would eat exotic meat. And you should add two zeros to the official numbers. And of cause he tells the same like all other: There is no help in hospitals. Health system is completely overstrained.

“The antibodies may not remain for a long time, so there is still a risk that these recovered patients will be infected again,” Zhan said. “They should continue to keep themselves protected.”"
This means that you can get infected again and again. Comparable to the normal cold, with the difference that this 'cold' is probably deadly for you.

There is a small possibility that the virus affects Asian folks differently than Caucasian or other races.
But probably - it will be the same for the rest of us Gentiles as for the Chinese.
So it will REALLY SUCK if the virus sprouts up in a US city.
The US response to the virus seems to be to hope that an urban environment like most of the US, will somehow stop the virus from spreading.
The US gov quarantined 200 airplane passengers and let another 49,000 ish just go home - with no follow-up.
Seems like they're just crossing their fingers.
The virus might be a tiny machine that you can't see, whose functioning you have to deduce by its actions, but it can only be counted on to culture the same in an American or European or Indian petri dish, as in China.
I think people expect their monsters to be big.
If it was Godzilla they could sent in some F16's or F22's or F35's and bomb the thing assertively.
The basic idea of a quarantine is ridiculously simple - it's a staycation. 2 week staycation. That's most of what is needed to keep the virus from spreading.
Maybe the US gov is silently & stealthily following up with the 50,000 or whatever inbound passengers from China. And only publicly quarantining 200 of them.

And consider the disease is slowly. Incubation time is up to 14 days, then one week slightly symptoms, then getting worse and worse, after five weeks many need intensive care. There are so many cases in China simply because they had more time to develop symptoms.
