Apparently, they want any obvious searches for porn, and then they want to pull all searches in a given week, just to see where they go and if it is to porn. Jeez O Pete, what next. Something else to worry bout. Glad I got my good sites like ICM and its forums on my fav's.lol Everyone have a good one

Pretty fucked up, and I don't even believe for a sec this has anything to do with porno and protecting kids, parents can limit access to stuff anyway, and beyond the limitations inherent in that, i.e., kids will be kids and naturally curious, who thinks that seeing a titty, pussy, or cock is going to send a pre-teen spiralling out of control and into the gutter?

Come on guys... I agree the goverment goes overboard, but if they are doing this to go after kiddie porn peddlers...I see no harm. If they are using their powers for other issues I see problems, but people who produce that kiddie porn or buy it should be executed by a slow painful method.

OK, so are they seeking to go after people who are involved in selling child pornography? I may have missed it in reading, but I was under the impression that they were seeking to somehow protect children fron viewing porno online, perhaps i just misread or missed that.
And even if that's the case, how will spying on everyone help that effort anyway? They can just as easily go online and search for child pornography.

Define 'abused'? If we're talking about children who are abducted and forced into the sex trade, I hope they're doing more than going through search engine info, and once a child is abducted as such, he/she is likely gone forever. This spying program has nothing to do with helping children in any way that is clear to me.

The child act of protection the Goverment tried to pass before was not just about kiddie porn.
In fact it is in reguard to what a child may find while surfing the net to include adult legal porn sites.
What would happen if they can pass this law is sites found unprotected offering adult porn would be fined big fines.
So I feel imo what the Goverment is looking for is another way to make more money off the internet.
They use the ploy of protecting a child as a way to get people to agree to allow them to remove your right to privacy.
Its up to parents to use protective software and be alert in what a child is doing on line.
There are loggers parents can and do install so they can know exactly what their kids are looking at.
These laws would really crush the legal porn vendors as they need to advertise to bring people to their sites.
if these laws pass they would have no effective way to offer their service for sale.
This is not just about kiddie porn.
As they would not stop there.
Its just the excuse to use the law to aquire the search engine records.
Do you think they would not use this to go after and monitor people who type MJ into the search engine?
And would be many red necks who would say as long as they are only trying to rid the world of pot heads then its ok a good thing.

its best to read it in full and dont miss the small print.
People have a right to privacy.
What a person decides to borrow from a public library is none of the goverments buissness.
What Magazines we buy is not the goverments buissness either.
When people use a search engine.
I would like to feel while the Goverment is stopping poor and ill people from getting the funds for medication and life support.
I am sure money being wasted spying on ALL americans could be used to help buy fuel and medication and food for the poor.
I am sure the money wasted spending millions of dollars searching for pot smokers and growers could also be used to help people who need medications who in some cases dont get the meds because they cant afford to pay the co payments.
I think its great that Google has stood up and said no way to these unfair requests.
As for Yahoo I have lost enough respect for them to remove their tool bar from my browser that I dont recall asking for in the first place.
I will never load a yahoo web site or search engine again.
I will use google.
