Rep. Charlie Crist (D-FL) and Rep. Don Young (R-AK) have re-introduced legislation designed to protect the LEAST endangered people in America-the federal work force. the bill they put forward would protect federal workers in legal medical states from any "adverse personnel" moves against them by employers in states with legal medical cannabis. WTF??? why should THEY get to keep their jobs & the REST of us left spinning in the wind? they have better pay, easier jobs, better insurance (paid for by US!) and damn near no fear of getting laid off. protect EVERYONE, or go fuck yourself with something wrapped in barbed wire...:moon:

This is exactly what happens when folks say that "this legalization is good enough for me man... baby steps man... we can't have what we want all at once... etc. etc etc."

I'm sure some of them will be out of work again during the next government shutdown. This legislation is probably there to protect the politicians from their own dirty laws that affect the rest of us. Poor politicians, never catch a break do they?

I have heard that the feds are having a hard time finding computer hackers that don't use cannabis, so they need protection...

Not against anyone being immune to dumb pot laws but yeah, this is what big gov/socialism looks like eh?

Promise equality and deliver inequality. Oh well, some people are getting a good life. Pensions, can not be fired almost, now no pot laws for them. Must be nice.

I used to be told that if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. Nowadays people are just too happy being stupid to be civil..

I don't get it... I know I'm missing something here.

They're being protected from what, exactly? Getting to keep their jobs if they DON'T use cannabis and the state says they have to?

Here's a link that explains it:

http://www.sunshinestatenews.com/st...l-cannabis-options-federal-employees-veterans

Which is great news at least if it passes. Sets a precedent the private sector will have to pay attention to. If you're driving a forklift, trucking, welding, or whatever you'll still be screwed but it will make it a lot harder for states with medical laws to discriminate against their employees, if they still are.

We're not talking about senators and the big boys here, we're talking about janitors, sanitation workers, all the shitty menial jobs plus rangers, fire fighters, contractors and the rest. Huge group of people. Although I had friends that worked in the ranger trade at the National Park at Mt Rainier and we got wasted every time I visited. Doubt they were tested.

Civil employees set the standards.
Its a start. Not an end.

It's just pure ignorance. Ignorance is the only reason cannabis is treated differently than any other medication out there. There shouldn't even BE any legislation which is exclusive to cannabis.

How many commonly used medications are there, where you can get fired for using it at work? How many prescription medications will land you in jail if you get caught driving while using them?

Ignorance. Plain and simple.

i hope you are right, really! but look at how different standards are between federal employees/civil servants & "normal people". they set standards all right, but damn near nobody else gets to live by those. if one class of people gets a protection from an injurious act, why should not ALL classes of american citizens be afforded that protection? it costs the govt no money to give us a protection unless someone else (hereafter referred to as "the defendant" :)) violates that protective barrier which the govt has proscribed. we need a citizens rights law like Canada has which protects citizens from drug testing in the workplace, UNLESS you are in 1 of (i think ) 5 or 6 jobs. IE airline pilots, train engineers, tugboat/ferry captains etc.

Big Pharma is dying, they're being killed by the "Pissed Off Parent's Brigade." You know them, they may not be an organized group, but they're the ones who are educating the world about big pharma killing their child with Rx. The parent's who are watching other kids live, because they're using the cannabis big pharma is lobbying against.

With the erosion of ignorance, sane legislation is slowly taking place. It's going to bust wide open, or there's going to be blood in the streets.
